Priviet and hello to you all.
I'm Firebird, born in England and still live there. But there's Russian blood in my veins, mixed with the Anglo. Its great to see Russia as a proud and confident nation once more.

Thought I'd pop by to chat and share my thoughts on the New Russia and CIS.

No.
No Russian blood at all, Scottish, Welsh, English, and Irish blood mostly.

For years I was told about the evil backstabbing Ruskies, and then I met some Russian fishermen at the local port and they were nice and gave me some chocolate and I started to read more and more about them. (I was about 8 years old when I met them and was given the chocolate).

Pretty soon started to realise the problem had nothing to do with communism... I have a British book printed in 1870 that talks about the Russian threat to India, only the threat is not to India itself, but British colonial rule in India... which is clearly not the same thing...

End of the world next year apparently... 2012 and all... don't believe it myself of course.

It is funny that so many suggest the Mayan calendar ending in 2012 is proof they knew the world was going to end in 2012... of course if they knew that why didn't they anticipate their own demise and do something to prevent it.

I would put more stock in their calendar telling us about the end of time if they were smart enough to still be around to tell us... the fact that they aren't around suggests their ability to see the future was a bit limited.

Makes a good story though.
