I am a American. I am a veteran of the 1st Gulf War. I served with the 2nd Armored div(fwd) and 101st Airborne div. I now work security for a living. I have always been interested in the Russian armed forces especially the various Spetsnaz units and VDV. Thank you for having me.

I was going to say "know your enemy" but that is a bit cynical... perhaps the more Americans get to know Russians the less problems there will be around the place.
I know a few people from the net who think the Russians just do things to annoy the west... ie they are friends with Iran just to get under Americas skin.
The reality is that the US has a real hangup about Iran that the majority of the rest of the world doesn't have and to be honest we look at history and think the US has been rather nasty to Iran for no good reason.
Russia doesn't befriend countries like Iran to annoy the US... Russia doesn't hate Iran because it has no reason to hate Iran...
Perhaps the more Americans realise this the better... and more importantly perhaps they can look at why their government treats Iran and indeed Cuba they way it does... do they need to continue with their own little cold wars? Look at US relations with Vietnam for instance... or indeed China... last time I looked both countries were still communist too.
