Re: Yemeni Conflict: News
I think Saudis and Emirates will give to the western weapons and armor really bad reputation, as they are regularly destroyed in big numbers against light infantry with old soviet equipment. Those Oshkosh MRAPs really looks like piece of sh*t, considering how many were destroyed without heavy fighting.

They are not bad, they are fine, good as any other MRAP around i suppose but issue is that they are using them so badly that its suprising they have any left to be honest...

Re: Yemeni Conflict: News
There are lots od dead Saudis whom we simply don't see. the official figure of 120 dead is a load of BS, the real number is probably a few times higher than that.
A single IRGC division + maybe a Russian Spetznaz regiment (as a nice decoration) and after a year of fight KSA and UAE will be left with no army.

It's in the context of the whole text. It's not that those MRAPs are bad, but that Saudi and Emirate users give them bad reputation like they are crap, because of their incompetence.

JohninMK wrote:Perhaps a protocol has developed, Houthis fire a few rounds at Saudi vehicles, soldiers decamp and flee unhurt, Houthis ransack then destroy that which they don't need. Everyone wins, minimum casualties on either side, plenty of destruction (we put up a hell of a fight before we escaped), no fear in the next encounter, Saudis order more gear from the US. Its win win.flamming_python wrote:With the amount of Saudi vehicles standing around and not doing s**t while being leisurely targeted by Houthi ATGMs and RPGs; I'm starting to think that most of the explanation really does come down to the fact that Saudi forces and paid mercenaries really do bail and flee as soon as the first pellet pings off their tank armour.
That sorta thing is actually a lot more plausible than one might suspect.

Photos were taken with potato, thats more than obvious but i am almost convinced that is not any kind of mine. Since i served in Air Defence i had pleasure towing around Strela 2/M (SA7/B for less versed) on my back couple of times for recreational purposes of my superiors and i can recognise thermal Battery 9B17 for Strela when i see one.
Nicely visible battery on video.
Additional info whoever is interested: http://download.cabledrum.net/wikileaks_archive/file/us-manpads-study-guide-2004.pdf
Only mine this even remotely reminds of is Chinese Type 84, but THAT is not THIS:

"Saudi-led Arab coalition forces battling the Shi'ite Houthi rebel group have announced they seized a Yemen-bound Iranian boat carrying weapons that was masquerading as a fishing boat south of Oman's Salalah coast.
The shipment, which was seized on 26 September, on the third day of Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, had 18 anti-armour shells, 54 anti-tank missiles, 15 battery kits and other weapons on board. The 14-strong crew was also arrested by Arab authorities, according to an al-Arabiya report." - Source: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/saudi-led-coalition-seizes-yemen-bound-iranian-arms-shipment-1521810
Seems shipment contained Iranian built Troophan ATGMs too (TOW derivate).

I am preparing one abit bigger post regarding Saudi Arabia for later, mostly something they did in Syria last year. Naturally well documented post.

Mina's tragedy was unfortunate event...Unfortunately there are ongoing "media war" too between shia extremist and wahabbis. They mix shit out of context.
