Russian arms exporter Rosoboronexport Reports $34 Billion in orders

Russia’s state arms exporter said Wednesday that its order portfolio stood at $34 billion as of June 1. Rosoboronexport delivered $6.5 billion worth of weaponry to foreign customers in the first half of this year, deputy head Igor Sevastyanov announced, adding that the current order portfolio included contracts with 67 countries. Russian news agency Novosti reports.

Russia, which last year sold $15.2 billion worth of weaponry, is the world’s No. 2 arms exporter, behind the United States. Russia’s main arms customers are India, Algeria, China, Venezuela, Malaysia and Syria. Vietnam also emerged as a significant purchaser in 2010, when it signed a deal to buy submarines, aircraft and other military hardware.

Sevastyanov added that his company was in talks regarding contracts worth a total of more than $80 billion. But it was not immediately clear in what time frame those contracts could be concluded.

JSC Rosoboronexport: Products and News - Page 2 Empty Iskander Export?

    Interesting stuff:

    Itar Tass

Russian design bureau ready to export Iskander systems

Itar Tass wrote:KOLOMNA, February 07, 7:30 /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Kolomna Machine-Building Design Bureau is ready to export Iskander tactical systems, its Director-General and chief designer Valery Kashin told ITAR-TASS.

The bureau conducted intensive marketing research in the previous years and even prepared a contract with a foreign customer, but it was never signed for political reasons, he said.

“Then we stopped advancing the Iskander to foreign markets after we had been awarded a long-term contract from the Defence Ministry to supply the system to the Russian army, and we had to increase our output four to five times to fulfill the obligations,” Kashin said.

Foreign customers were advised not to file any requests for purchase until 2015. “Now that we have reached the required level of production to fulfill the contract with the Defence Ministry, we and Rosoboronexport have resumed our efforts to advance the system to foreign markets. And we have already received some requests,” he said.

I'd be interested to know, just whom they'd be exporting it to...

I figure this is the best place to put this information as it is about Rosoboronexport and it is sticky so it will remain visible.

I will just post the article rather than try to explain as the article says it all:

    23.12.2013
Rosoboronexport has adapted “Russia’s MTC” to iOS

The English version of “Russia’s MTC,” a book published by Rosoboronexport (part of the Rostec State Corporation), will be available for downloading on iPhone, iPod and iPad mobile devices via iTunes app since January 1, 2014. It has been called “Russian Arms.”

Over the past three years “Russia’s MTC” has been published twice. The first edition, which incorporated the entire history of military-technical cooperation (MTC) between Russia and foreign countries for more than a 100-year period, was released in the paper version in 2010 to mark the occasion of Rosoboronexport’s 10th anniversary.

The second enlarged edition was released in 2013 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the domestic MTC system. The decision to adapt the English version of the publication to mobile devices running on the iOS platform was made to make the book more accessible to foreign experts who are interested in the history of Russia's MTC.

The book contains links to many monographs and unique archival documents published for the first time. This edition is encyclopedic in nature and is of a great historical value.

As its title suggests, “Russian Arms” focuses on the achievements of the national defense industry enabling Russia to rank among the global arms market leaders.

The authors are looking into the possibility of adapting the book to Android, which will significantly expand its readership.

The link to download the book: https://itunes.apple.com/ru/app/russian-arms/id768715952?mt=8

Rosoboronexport, a subsidiary of the Rostec Corporation, is the sole state-owned arms trade company in the Russian Federation authorized to export the full range of military and dual-purpose products, technologies and services. Rosoboronexport is one of the leading world arms exporters to the international market. Its share in Russia's military exports exceeds 80 percent. Rosoboronexport cooperates with more than 700 enterprises and organizations in the Russian defence industrial complex. Russia maintains military technical cooperation with more than 70 countries around the world.

The Russian corporation Rostec was established in 2007 with the purpose to render assistance to industries in the development, production and export of high-technology military and civil-purpose products. It comprises 663 enterprises grouped into eight holding companies in the defence industrial complex, and five holding companies in civil industry branches. The Rostec subsidiaries are located in 60 regions of the Russian Federation, and export their products to more than 70 countries worldwide.

Russian Be-200 amphibian aircraft conquered Asia
    Russian Aviaton » Tuesday March 31, 2015 13:32 MSK

Results of the first two days at LIMA-2015, held at Langkawi island (Malaysia) exceeded all expectations. New interesting prospects have emerged. Deputy CEO of Rosoboronexport Sergey Goreslavski told Rossiyskaya Gazeta about intense negotiations with leaders of the defense ministries of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries.

According to him, here at LIMA-2015, new prospects and ideas have emerged right in front of their eyes. Meeting of leaders of ASEAN countries held before the LIMA-2015 show contributed to these results. Today the association includes ten countries. Besides political leaders, ministers of defense also held their own meetings. Many of them have visited LIMA-2015 show. Sergey Goreslavski said that ongoing matters as well as new interesting projects have been discussed. Matters related to strengthening military-technical cooperation, including transfer of cutting-edge technologies to the region’s leading defense enterprises, have been considered.

The parties confirmed their interest in Su-30MK and Su-35 fighters. Bilateral negotiations on deliveries of Su-35 fighters to one of the region’s countries were started. Positions of Russian helicopters in the region are being strengthened. A breakthrough occurred in promotion of Be-200 amphibious aircraft. Initially the manufacturer expected the demand for this aircraft in the region of a thousand islands to be high. But it wasn’t all that simple. And then it was a blessing in disguise. Be-200 proved its worth during search-and-rescue operations carried out after a Malaysian Airbus disappeared in December 2014 near Java Sea.

Having assessed the capabilities of Be-200 amphibious aircraft, many countries, first of all Indonesia, were ready to consider the possibility of purchasing the jets of the type. Intense negotiations are underway. Negotiations were also held at LIMA-2015. Indonesia is also considering the possibility of expanding its fleet of BMP-3F vehicles. Only this country, besides Russia, operates these unique amphibious vehicles. Indonesian marines love Russian infantry combat vehicles.

Ministers of Defense of almost all the countries of this region expressed readiness to visit a number of defense exhibitions to be held in Russia. There will be many of them this year. First of all, this refers to MAKS-2015 airshow. International Maritime Defense Show (IMDS-2015) will be held in St. Petersburg and Russian Arms Expo (RAE-2015) will be held in Nizhny Tagil.

Delegation of Rosoboronexport held negotiations with representatives of 20 countries during the first two days at LIMA-2015, including meetings with a number of Defense Ministers. This result may be considered as a record. And the most important thing is that this was not just talking. The parties paved the way for future contracts in the area of military-technical cooperation.

    Sounds promising.

I find it a bit strange the Be-200 hasn't had export success so far as it seems like a good aircraft for it's perceived roles. Nothing really close to it on the market.

Also it's a pity they ditched the A-40 a few years back....that thing was a monster

They are superior in many aspects. The Ka-52 is superior in all aspects of flight performance, while being superior in protection ballistical and electronical to any other AH, with co-axial eleminating around 25% of the causes of losing power to tail rotor or getting shot down due the damage to the tail rotor, bulletproof glass at the front, good cockpit armor even tho not on same level as Ka-50 or Mi-24/28 but still high and ejection seats. Standard MAWS and DIRCM system. More capable weapons are integrated not just common ATGM and some ATAM for selfdefense, but also Anti-Surface Missile Kh-25/31, Anti Ship Missile Kh-31/35/38 with ranges of 120-300km (practical it is lower due altitidue launche), R-73M, Cluster bombs, guided rockets Ugroza S-13/24/25, Vikhr-M which is dual purpose ATGM for ground and airtargets of slow jets, UAV and Helicopters.

Image Processing which gives it even in Thermal Vision better images of the targets which can be much easier to identify if people are armed or not unlike several times in Apache where Image Processing is abscent and Thermal sources are painted entirely only white or black which reduces the information of its target and fairly short range of target identification, while more modern FLIR's have high resolution with image processing, providing for the operator not only a better image of the surroundings to analyse the situation but aswell sustaining enough information to identify if armed guys are soldiers or probable insurgents, to avoid friendly fire which happened in the past several times.

There are many more points, but not really going to much more then that right now...have to deal with pc virus.

Very interesting to look at the catalogs for the different branchs of the armed forces.

I'm a Little surprised about to find not Surface-Air systems. Not in the Catalago for the Land Forces Systems, and also not in the Catalog for Aircraft Materiel. Maybe I'm missing something.

At Least Four Countries Interested in Purchase of Russia's Modernized Il-76

At least four countries - Iran, Algeria, South Africa and Kazakhstan - had shown interest in buying the Il-76MD-90A (also known as Il-476), the general director of aircraft-maker Aviastar-SP said Friday.

"I think, that the Il-76-MD-90A has a big exports potential…I hope the first plane will be ready for export in 2017," Sergei Dementyev told RIA Novosti.

Report: Russian Register of Conventional Arms, UN 2014

On the website of the United Nations Register of Conventional Arms as an afterthought, there is evidence from the official report of the Russian Federation to register for 2014.

The study shows there is data, Russia has officially declared the supply in 2014 on the export of these weapons, subject to the consideration of the United Nations Register. As usual, the types of weapons and equipment in the Russian report is not specified, so the corresponding notes are made by us.

It is easy to see that the report suffers from obvious incomplete and much of the supply has not entered (the same helicopter gunships to Iraq).

    I. Basic tanks:
    Azerbaijan - 65 (T-90)

    II. Armoured combat vehicles:
    Azerbaijan - 78 (BMP-3)

    III. Large-caliber artillery systems:
    Azerbaijan - 118 (2S19M, 2S31 Vena, MLRS "Smerch", TOS-1A)
    Kazakhstan - 6 (MLRS "Smerch")

    IV. Combat aircraft:
    Vietnam - 4 (Su-30MK2)
    India - 4 (MiG-29K / KUB)

    V. Attack helicopters
    India - 40 (Mi-17V-5)
    Kazakhstan - 2 (Mi-17)
    Peru - 8 (Mi-171SH)
    Rwanda - 2 (Mi-17)
    US - 30 (Mi-17V-5 for Afghanistan)

    VI. Warships:
    Vietnam - 2 (submarines Project 06361)

VII (a). Missiles and missile launchers:
India - 7859 (as you can tell, the vast majority - TOUR "Reflex")
Indonesia - 6 (presumably aviation SD)

The artillery market is going to grow huge in the next decade, countries will be looking for artillery system that are capable. How are Russia's artillery systems and are they developing new ones? Can Russia compete in the artillery market?

I imagine the best place to discuss this and find your answer is here: Artillery thread

Russia has lots of advanced artillery proving their worth.  Russias real competition will be Germany, South Africa and South Korea I imagine. US system (Gladiator or whatever it is called) is apparently an over engineered POS mentioned by users here.

South Africa nor South Korea are in competition with russia, they do not have the capacity to serve customers even if they wanted it. The market is also not really that interested in those countries.

And I though the G6 (correct name?) Was regarded as one of the best in the world?  And I think the name for the US was crusader I might be wrong again though.

It will be the competition on who can bribe the most.
