    More information on the trio air defense system. I still think Belarus needs to stop wasting money on systems that will never get into production.

    "The Trio system is designed to protect military or civil pieces of infrastructure and military units and formations against small-size aerial targets, including drones. The weapon integrates a mobile command and control (C2) post with integral reconnaissance subsystems, upgraded Strela-10 (NATO reporting name: SA-10 Gopher) self-propelled short-range air defense system, a modernized ZSU-23-4 Shilka self-propelled anti-aircraft gun (SPAAG) system, and Berserk unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) armed with two Gryazev-Shipunov GShG-7.62 7.62 mm rapid-fire machineguns.

    The Trio system features a structure that integrates the abovementioned assets. The manufacturer says the weapon effectively destroys small-size aerial targets, including UAVs with very low visual signatures. "All the components of the Trio are mounted on tracked vehicles and therefore have high maneuverability in rugged environments," said the representative of the GKVP.

    The C2 post with integral reconnaissance subsystems has automated the new weapon`s functioning. "The post features a passive optical-electronic locator that has a traverse angle of 360° and an elevation angle between -7° and +70°. It acquires target information and sends it to the combat vehicles integrated with the Trio system," said the spokesperson for the Belarusian committee.

    The upgraded Strela-10 SAM system has received a round-the-clock passive optical-electronic station that detects and tracks aerial targets in passive mode at a distance of up to 20 km. It also calculates the coordinates of a target and warns an operator when an aerial vehicle approaches. "In order to engage low-size aerial platforms, including UAVs, the [Strela-10] combat vehicle has been modified to fire the upgraded R-60BM [AA-8 Aphid] air-to-air missile that can engage a target that is 30 cm long and 30 cm wide. The missile carries an infrared, thermal imaging, or laser seeker," said the representative of the GKVP.

    The modernized ZSU-23-4 Shilka SPAAG has been fitted with a modern optical-electronic reconnaissance-guidance system that has replaced the organic outdated radar. The updated system detects an aerial target at a distance of up to 20 km and tracks it at a range of 16 km. "This variant of the Shilka detects and tracks low-size aerial targets at a distance of up to 7 km," said the source. Like the modernized Strela-10, the upgraded ZSU-23-4 SPAAG can engage an aerial target that is 30 cm long and 30 cm wide. "The modernization has resulted in the Shilka`s ability to destroy existing and advanced small aerial targets, including UAVs, at low and extremely low altitudes", said the source.

    The Berserk UGV is armed with two machineguns that produce a rate of fire of approximately 12,000 rounds per minute. The robotic system can effectively engage a 30 cm aerial target at a distance of some 500 m. "The Trio is a relatively inexpensive system featuring high combat capacities," concluded the spokesperson for the GKVP."

    Interesting website of a defense company in Belarus three key systems

    "On-board defense complex (BKO) "Amulet" is designed to provide protection for helicopters:

    From all types of aviation and anti-aircraft guided missiles with active (semi-active) homing radar heads.
    From ground-based air defense systems using anti-aircraft guided missiles with a command guidance system.
    BKO "Amulet" also provides protection for the helicopter from "friendly fire" of aviation intercept missile systems and ground-based air defense systems.

    Main advantages and uniqueness:

    Automatic (without the participation of a pilot or operator) jamming by all the radiating radioactive elements of the enemy
    The number of simultaneously suppressed airborne and ground RES is not limited.
    Self-illumination of the BKO carrier helicopter is completely excluded.
    BKO operates without restrictions on the tactics of combat use of the protected helicopter.
    Full electromagnetic compatibility with proprietary helicopter electronic equipment"

    "BKO "Talisman" is designed to provide protection for combat aircraft: (aka mascot)

    From all types of aviation and anti-aircraft guided missiles with active (semi-active) homing radar heads.
    From all types of aviation and anti-aircraft missiles with optoelectronic (infrared) homing heads.
    From ground-based air defense systems using anti-aircraft guided missiles with a command guidance system.
    BCO "Talisman" also provides protection for the aircraft from the "friendly fire" of aviation intercept missile systems and ground-based air defense systems.

    Main advantages and uniqueness:

    Automatic (without the participation of a pilot or operator) jamming by all the radiating radioactive elements of the enemy
    The number of simultaneously suppressed airborne and ground RES is not limited.
    Self-illumination of the BKO carrier aircraft is completely excluded.
    BKO is used without restrictions on the tactics of combat use of the protected aircraft.
    When operating in tight battle formations, a BKO carrier aircraft reliably covers a neighbor who does not have EW facilities.
    Full electromagnetic compatibility with proprietary aircraft electronic equipment."

    "KRP "Mirage" is designed to provide electronic cover for ground-based weapons and military equipment from airborne radar reconnaissance systems by creating active simulating interference."

    And in development

    Aura Aircraft Attack Prevention and Prevention System
    Purpose: to protect civilian aircraft (aircraft and helicopters) from terrorist attacks (unauthorized launches) of guided missile weapons of intercept aircraft missile systems and anti-aircraft missile systems, including MANPADS.

    SPRA "Aura" provides the solution to the following tasks:

    - Detection of an attacking missile;
    - Definition of the angular sector (direction) of the attack;
    - Measurement of the range to the attacking rocket;
    - Display on the control panel information about missile detection and attack directions;
    - Automatic inclusion of equipment to counter a missile attack;
    - Disruption of the guidance of the attacking rocket.

    The structure of the Aura warning and counter-missile attack (SPRA) system includes:

    - Missile attack warning equipment (APRA-1);
    - Anti-missile attack equipment (APRA-2).

    The principle of operation of the Aura

    SPPRA : The Aura SPPRA is switched on by the crew before take-off and operates throughout the flight. APRA-1 warning equipment is in the detection mode of attacking missiles. The inclusion of APRA-1 on radiation is carried out simultaneously with the inclusion on the radiation of the airborne radar equipment (radio altimeter, weather radar) or by decision of the crew.

    Upon detection of an attacking missile (at the command of the APRA-1 equipment), depending on the hemisphere of the attack, the APRA-2 counteraction equipment is turned on (before the detection of the attacking rocket, the APRA-2 equipment does not emit counteraction signals).

    You can download the catalogues for all

    The problem with 7.62mm gatling guns is that they are going to be spewing out an enormous number of rounds with each burst, and while that will make them rather effective against small light targets you will have to problem that anything in the line of fire will also get hammered with the rounds that miss and many of the rounds that pass straight through the target.

    That is why I suggest a 40mm grenade launcher with fixed fuse rounds that detonate a forward facing fragmentation round.

    HE fragmentation rounds generate lots of small penetrators that are lethal over short distances but rapidly become harmless.

    A forward firing fragmentation grenade warhead concentrates the fragments in the direction of the target, but those fragments wont be lethal to people on the ground because by the time they descend to an altitude where people are they will be moved several tens of metres where their destructive effect will be very low.

    In comparison a 7.62mm rifle calibre round can be lethal out to 3-4km, a small fragment from a 40mm grenade will leave the grenade at enormous velocities, but also rapidly slow down and become not dangerous in about 40-50m or so. Bursting up in the air aimed horizontally at a flying target the danger to people or things on the ground will be minimal... and you can fire that grenade launcher as much as you like.

    If need be you can fire at targets on the ground... if the grenades detonate at 40m then angle the gun downwards so that troops on the ground 45m away can be fired upon and those troops will be hit with fragments to injure and kill if need be.

    Grenade Launcher’s Smart Sniper Sight Turned Up at Army-2019 Forum

    At the Army-2019 military forum, the representatives of Belarusian Optical & Mechanical Association (BelOMA) showed Mil.Press Today the sight 1P81 with ballistic computer and laser rangefinder for grenade launchers RPG-32 and SPG-9.

    Except for the reticle with two range scales (1.5 m and 2.4 m), the 1P81 sight is equipped with the laser rangefinder precisely measuring the distance to the target. The sight also has the integrated full-featured ballistic computer.

    Oleg Slipchenko, head expert at BelOMA, told Mil.Press Today that the point shooting was not only a small arms’ privilege. It is not less critical for grenade launchers as the operator often has only one ‘bull’s eye chance’.

    The economic aspect is important, too. A missed grenade launch costs much higher than a small arms’ bad shot.

    According to the company’s official, technological sophistication of the sights facilitates the firing process and becomes the industry trend.

    "Designing of smart sights is one of development trends in the aiming equipment industry. In combat environment, the first-shot hit is a top priority for any military professional. To that end, he must define the fire mission settings. Find the target range, make up for pressure, temperature, wind, ammunition type. For that purpose, we integrated the rangefinder, the ballistic computer and the input tools into the sight", said Oleg Slipchenko.

    As for the expert, the 1P81 sights were demonstrated in Jordan, where a member of the royal family tested the sight personally and highly appreciated its performance.

    The sight provides for mounting of the night-vision adapter. It helps to fire under the limited visibility conditions at the distance of up to 350 meters. The adapter employs the 2G+ electronic image converter.

    The sight weighs 1.5 kg, the NV adapter - 0.55 kg.

    Groza-Z1 will be presented at MILEX-2021.

    JSC "KB Radar" has completed the development and manufacture of a Groza-Z1 mobile system for protecting objects from unmanned aerial vehicles.

    The system automatically monitors the frequencies at which the most common UAVs operate. When UAVs appear, the system recognizes their signals and automatically suppresses control channels, data transmission, and navigation. As a result of the impact, the UAVs either fall, or make an emergency landing, or fly "home". In addition, an important advantage of the system is the possibility of setting up disinforming navigation interference to create a no-fly zone for UAVs.

    The detection range of drones is up to 2 km. The range of suppression of control channels and data transmission-not less than 500 m, the range of suppression of navigation-not less than 2 km, the range of setting disinforming navigation interference-up to 10 km.

    The system can be installed on any vehicle chassis, which increases its mobility and ensures fast delivery to the place of application. Work on countering UAVs can be carried out both in the parking lot and while driving, which allows you to protect not only stationary objects, but also to ensure the safety of transport columns.

    The Groza-Z1 system will be presented during the MILEX-2021 exhibition, which will be held in Minsk from 23 to 26 June 2021.
