    Actually the presence of Kalashnikov design is much bigger than people usually expects.

    Look at FN FNC, Insas, Pindad, SIG SG 540, Galil, Stoner 63... they used the similar gas operation mechanism to Kalashnikov.

    Other notable Western firearms follow the design of SVT. For example, FN FAL and its derivatives, AR-18, G36, Steyr AUG, FN SCAR,...
