The new large city electric bus VBG12E produced by the Russian holding company BMG will be tested in real operation in St. Petersburg. BMG is a private company that produces buses under the Volgabus brand.
VBG 12E was originally created for the Western European market in cooperation with one of the Austrian companies. The first prototype of the electric bus was presented back in 2019 under the name Deltabus, at the end of May 2021, a serial sample was shown, outwardly it almost does not differ from the car of two years ago.
The power reserve on a single battery charge of the VBG 12E reaches 250 km, the bus can take on board up to 75 passengers.
The body structure is completely low-floor, which simplifies boarding and disembarking, reduces the time of stops and allows you to transport low-mobility groups of passengers. All exterior panels of the bus are molded from composites, that is, they are not afraid of corrosion.

Russia's largest LED production line opened in the Kaliningrad Region.
On June 18, in the city of Gusev, Kaliningrad region, on the basis of the innovation cluster "Technopolis GS", the opening ceremony of the production of LED packaging was held.
To date, this is the largest and most high-tech such enterprise in Russia, its production capacity allows to produce up to 145 million LEDs per year, in the future they will be increased to 400 million.
Three main types of LEDs will come from the line of the newest enterprise: diodes 2835 PLCC, 3030 EMC and 5050 EMC, which currently occupy more than 90% of the Russian lighting market. The first line for the production of LEDs in the 2835 housing was launched. By the end of June 2021, commissioning works will be completed and production in housings 3030 and 5050 will begin.
Investments in the project amounted to 300 million rubles.
"By the end of the year, it is planned to organize the production of drivers for power sources of LED lighting devices for various purposes, and then to launch a large-scale production of secondary optics for LED lamps," the company representative added.
The new production of LEDs under the GS LED brand is implemented on the basis of high-tech enterprises of the cluster. The production infrastructure includes 700 m2 of its own Class 7 clean rooms, which have the potential to expand to 1500 sq.m. GS Group is the only LED manufacturer in Russia with its own clean rooms of this level of equipment. This allowed us to launch a new direction in the shortest possible time — in 1 year. As the main technology of LED packaging, the method of mounting crystals on a carrier frame is used, followed by micro-welding, sealing with a gel-phosphor mixture and testing according to its characteristics. High-performance equipment is installed in the production facility, which provides all these operations.
The volume of the Russian LED lighting market as of 2019 is estimated at 58.9 billion rubles, which is a little more than 1% of the global market (data from Lighting Business Consulting). The Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation estimates the market of state contracts, under which the replacement of traditional light sources with LED lighting should be carried out, at 442 billion rubles. This assessment assumes that government contracts will be implemented gradually until 2027. Today, about 35-40% of lighting systems in the Russian Federation have been replaced with LED, while the state program for the modernization of lighting and the replacement of lamps with diode has been completed by about 25-30%.

Russia has developed a technology for the production of magnetic powder for hard drives of unimaginable density and 6G smartphones.
A group of scientists from Moscow State University and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology has developed a fast method for producing a unique iron compound that is not found in nature in its pure form. The impressive magnetic properties of this material promise to both significantly increase the density of magnetic recording, and help with the development and operation of cellular communications 6G and beyond.
We are talking about epsilon-iron oxide (ε-Fe2O3). This modification has an extremely high coercive force of 20 kE at room temperature, and this is already the properties of magnets made of very expensive rare earth elements. Also, epsilon-iron oxide perfectly absorbs electromagnetic radiation in the sub-terahertz frequency range (100-300 GHz). This is the range in which 6G cellular communication will work. Due to the effect of natural ferromagnetic resonance, epsilon-iron oxide can absorb radiation in this range, which makes it convenient for preventing leaks — for shielding, and also determines materials that can help in receiving signals in this range.
In its pure form, epsilon-iron oxide was obtained in 2004. According to the proposed technologies, the synthesis of the material takes about 30 days. This is not suitable for industrial production. A team of Russian scientists was able to develop a technology for 30-fold acceleration of the synthesis of ε-Fe2O3. The proposed method, the development of which is the subject of an article in the Journal of Materials Chemistry C, opens up the possibility of synthesizing epsilon-iron oxide in one day.
The new material can serve as the basis for high-density magnetic recording on tapes and disks, as well as for next-generation cellular communication solutions. Material scientists from Moscow State University and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology have developed a fast method for producing epsilon iron oxide and demonstrated its promising potential for use in new generation communication devices. Its outstanding magnetic properties make it one of the most desirable materials, for example for next generation 6G communications devices and highly reliable magnetic recorders. The article by scientists can be read in the Journal of Materials Chemistry C.
Iron (III) oxide is one of the most abundant oxides on the planet. The forms of iron (III) oxide have exotic modifications: epsilon, beta, zeta and even amorphous. The most attractive phase for scientists is precisely epsilon iron oxide. This modification has an extremely high coercive force (the ability of a material to resist an external magnetic field). The force reaches 20 kOe at room temperature, which is comparable to the parameters of magnets based on expensive rare earth elements. The material also absorbs electromagnetic radiation in the subterahertz frequency range (100-300 GHz) due to the effect of natural ferromagnetic resonance. The frequency of such resonance is one of the criteria for the use of materials in wireless communication devices - 4G uses megahertz, and 5G uses tens of gigahertz.
The resulting material can be used for the production of converting or absorbing devices at these frequencies. It will be possible to make paints from nanopowder that absorb electromagnetic waves, and thus shield the premises from extraneous signals and protect the signal from being intercepted from the outside.
Epsilon iron oxide is an extremely rare and difficult form of iron oxide to obtain. Today it is received in very small quantities, and the process itself takes up to a month. Of course, in such a situation, we are not talking about widespread use. The authors of the study developed a technique for accelerated synthesis of epsilon iron oxide, which allows to reduce the synthesis time to one day (that is, to carry out a full cycle more than 30 times faster!) And to increase the amount of the resulting product. The technique is easy to reproduce, cheap and can be easily introduced into industry, and the materials necessary for the synthesis - iron and silicon - are among the most widespread elements on Earth.
“Materials with such high ferromagnetic resonance frequencies have enormous potential for practical applications. Today there is a rapid development of terahertz technologies: the Internet of Things, ultra-fast communication, scientific devices of a narrower application, medical technologies of a new generation. The 5G communication standard, which has become so sensational in the last year, operates at frequencies of tens of gigahertz, but with our materials we open up prospects for the transition to significantly higher frequencies (hundreds of gigahertz), that is, we are already dealing with 6G and higher standards. The Leningrad Metal Combine (LMZ, a constituent of Power Machines) has developed a low RPM, 1255 MegaWatt turbine for use in nuclear power plants. The first prototype has passed testing. The design is intended for scaling to around 1700 MW in the near future.
The advantage of low RPM (~1500) power turbines is that they have less failure points and last substantially longer than high RPM (~3000) turbines. LMZ is now the only company in the world that manufactures both low and high RPM power turbines.
