I triple this notion, the name should change to "Bulava SLBM development thread".

Same here! It just doesn't look right compared to older Bulava launches, and becuase the missile is still relatively secretive... The only liquid-fuelled stage is the final stage, which was not shown in the video.Big_Gazza wrote:Mike E wrote:GarryB?magnumcromagnon wrote:Mike E wrote:For sure...George1 wrote:i think the title of thread must change..

My take was that the vid was just file footage from a previous Sineva launch, ie sloppy journalism. I've never seen any solids that run with a near smoke-less exhaust plume.

- Thanks to whoever for changing the title.

Nice to know others have the same opinion...Morpheus Eberhardt wrote:Mike E wrote:I still don't think the video launch was of a Bulava.
I agree.

Test launches are tracked in multiple spectrums, videoed, photographed, and telemetered, but very little of this ever gets publicized. For example, have you ever seen an R-9 ICBM launch video? I don't think I have. Actually for decades, outside of Russia, R-26 was mistaken for R-9. Even now, not many know about the entirely different concept of round-the-clock readiness, high-performance, cryogenic propellant system that R-9 ICBM utilized.
If you really want one, I can order one up!Vann7 wrote:
A bulava missile and a launcher submarine looks like a really cool present for CHristmas

"This is the first shooting" Mace "from submerged missile submarines of Project 955 (" Northwind "), having on board a full ammunition - 16 ICBM" Bulava "- said the source. - This will test how to behave in the ship after the shooting. Previously, all "Borei" went to sea to start the "Bulava", having on board only one missile, which was launched ".

Russian Navy intends to fire all 16 SLBMs at from one shooting

Only Bulavas 3rd stage is liquid. First two are solid fueled.
I doubt that they would waste the money on 16 Bulavas like that, so you are most likely correct.TheArmenian wrote:Hold your horses.
I am not sure they are going to launch 16 missiles.
I read and re-read the quoted article: It says it will launch a missile while having 16 on-board. Unlike previous launches that had only one missile loaded on board.
It does not mean it will launch all the missiles.
