Myanmar Air Force Signs For JF-17 Squadron
Press reports suggest that the mystery launch customer of the AVIC/PAC JF-17 ‘Thunder’ is Myanmar Air-Force with an order of 10-12 units. AVIC has never officially disclosed the identity of the client.
The PAC JF-17 Thunder, or CAC FC-1 Xiaolong (Fierce Dragon), is a lightweight, single-engine, multi-role combat aircraft developed jointly by thePakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) and the Chengdu Aircraft Corporation (CAC) of China. The JF-17 can be used for aerial reconnaissance, ground attack and aircraft interception. Its designation “JF-17” byPakistan is short for “Joint Fighter-17”, while the designation and name “FC-1 Xiaolong” by China means “Fighter China-1 Fierce Dragon”.
Former attempts to sell the JF-17 to Sri-Lanka, Nigeria and Argentina have so far failed.

"Myanmar army appears to have imported new air defense systems from Russia, it may be a Buk missile or Tor. Myanmar’s military blog recently published pictures taken at a wharf in the country showed that the appearance of the base chassis specialized MZKT-6922 system as the basis for modern air defense missiles from Russia. This sparked speculation that Myanmar’s military may have to import a certain weapon systems from Russia. Because part of the roof is covered by canvas difficult identify whether this chassis carrying any weapons systems.
According to the Russia documents, the current base chassis MZKT-6922 is used as a platform to put the improved variant of air defense missile systems Tor, Buk, Osa-1T and T38 9K33-1T Stiletto. Specifically, MZKT-6922 is used as the chassis for air defense systems Tor-M2E short-range is designed to destroy most of the air targets such as aircraft, helicopters, UAVs, cruise missiles, smart bombs.
Tor-M2E air-navigation allows 4 channel 4 rocket attacks leading 4 goals at the same time, ultra-fast response time is only 7 seconds, air-to-air missile launcher 9M331 high vertical with 10km range, shot 16km distance, speed 1km/s. Based on a MZKT-6922 can also be used in a variation of air defense systems Buk-M2E medium-range. The gas component Buk-M2E system resource use based on a MZKT-6922. The system is capable of destroying targets up to 30km high-altitude, long-range 70km, the lower the probability is very high goals.
MZKT-6922 chassis is also used as the basis for anti-aircraft missile system Osa-1T 9K33-1T – upgraded variant of 9K33 Osa system produced by the Soviet Union, made by companies Tetraedr of Belarus. The system is equipped with ammunition missile with a range of 20km 9M33M3-1, additional camera channels aiming Day / Night OES-1T. Myanmar to showcase modernized «Kvadrat-M» Air Defence System on military parade.
The «Kvadrat-M» is an modernized Surface to Air Missile system developed by Belarusian company Alevkurp JSC. The «Kvadrat-M» using a MZKT-6922 lightweight wheeled chassis similar to that used by the «Buk-2M» and «Tor».
Repairs to the modernization of «Kvadrat-M» made of “ALEVKURP” together with JSC “Plant 2566 repair electronic equipment” (RB).
As anti-aircraft missiles are, with high probability, not be used outdated original 3M9 missiles and rockets from SAM “Buk-M1” or “Buk-M1-2” – 9M38M1 or 9M317E respectively (Russia recently supplied the weapons for SAM 9M317E Belarusian air defense system “Buk-MB”, which was exported to Azerbaijan).

Myanmar Mi-2 military helicopter crashes,3 dead
Three Burma Army officers died when an MI-2 military helicopter crashed today in Pegu’s Daik-U Township, according to the Office of the Commander-in-Chief.
The office’s initial report stated that the chopper, having undergone major maintenance at Meiktila air base, took off around 9 a.m. for Tenasserim’s Myeik air base. The chopper stopped in Taungoo, also in Pegu, to refuel and then continued toward Hmawbi, in Rangoon Division. Due to bad weather, it crashed before reaching its final destination.
The pilot, Maj Yan Naing Htoo, co-pilot Capt Tun Tun Naing and Sgt Tin Tun Lwin were reportedly killed on the spot. There is an open investigation into the cause of the accident.
This is the fourth known air force accident in recent months. In February, a Beechcraft airplane crashed near Naypyidaw International Airport, killing all five army officers onboard; in March, there was a runway accident at the same airport due to a mechanical failure; in April another chopper crashed in Mandalay Division.

Re: Myanmar Armed Forces
Myanmar Navy exercises "Marine Shield-2017"
Οn March 31st, 2017 in the Bay of Bengal were large-scale exercises of the Myanmar Navy, "Marine Shield-2017". The country's navy has been developing quite rapidly in recent years, and, first of all, due to ships of their own construction. Myanmar built its first frigate F 11 Aung Zeya at the naval shipyard in Sinmalaika in 2006-2010, the ship was commissioned after protracted tests in December 2011. In early October 2012 in Sinmalaika, the second frigate F12 Kyansittha was launched, featuring the use of Stealth technology elements in the design. Construction of the frigate F14 Sin Phyu Shin was conducted under the Chinese project and with Chinese technical assistance. The frigate is a further development of the design of the previous frigate F 12 Kyansittha built in Sinmalaica, being also made using the Stealth technology, but differs in the changed architecture and composition of the weapons.
In January 2017, the Myanmar fleet replenished with a new missile corvette Tabinshwehti, which received the number 773. Tabinshwehti - the third Anwrahta missile corvette in the Myanmar Navy. It was built at the state shipyard of Thilawa and launched in 2014. The first - Anawrahta (771) - was adopted in service in 2001, the second - Bayinnaung (772) - in 2003.
In recent years, the Ministry of Defense of Myanmar has been making great efforts to modernize the Navy. Experts attribute this to the relations with Bangladesh, complicated by the dispute over sovereignty over the 320-km exclusive economic zone in the Bay of Bengal. In 2012, the United Nations International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea recognized the rights of Bangladesh to the area, after which the War Department of Myanmar began to replenish and modernize the existing fleet. In addition, it is known that the Ministry of Defense of Myanmar was negotiating with Indonesia about the purchase of landing and helicopter dockships, and with Russia and China - the acquisition of submarines.

Re: Myanmar Armed Forces
The introduction of the first fighter JF-17M in the Air Force of Myanmar
December 15, 2018 at the airfield of the flight school of the Myanmar Air Force in Maithila (near Mandalay) celebrations took place in honor of the 71st anniversary of the Myanmar (Burmese) military aircraft. During the ceremony, the first four JF-17M light fighters received from China were solemnly introduced into the Myanmar Air Force, as well as the ATR 72-600 turboprop transport and passenger aircraft and a Chinese-made multi-purpose Z-9 helicopter.
Recall that Myanmar has become the first foreign download and recipient of a lightweight JF-17 (FC-1) Thunder fighter jointly produced in China and Pakistan. Earlier it was reported that the contract for the purchase of six JF-17M fighter jets (export version of the JF-17 Block 2 aircraft) was concluded by Myanmar with Pakistan in March 2015, the cost of the contract was, as it was then claimed, 129 million euros.
Aircraft must be assembled in Pakistan at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) aircraft company in Kamra. However, the implementation of the contract was delayed due to tensions between Pakistan and Myanmar due to the persecution of the Rohingya Muslim minority in Myanmar. Therefore, the developer of this aircraft, the Chinese aircraft manufacturer Chengdu Aircraft Industries Company (Group) (CAC) in Chengdu, assembling Myanmar aircraft, and the Myanmar aircraft produced only airframe constructors for the Myanmar aircraft became the lead contractor for the supply of JF-17 fighters to Myanmar. on a contract basis. Like all JF-17, Myanmar fighters are equipped with engines Rossi-RD-93 production.
The first JF-17M fighter for Myanmar made its first flight to Chengdu in June 2017, and all six fighters were reportedly delivered to Myanmar from the PRC in the autumn of 2018. Now the first four of them (Mnmanskie airborne numbers from "1701" to "1704") officially entered the Myanmar Air Force.
According to some reports, Myanmar has increased the order for the purchase of JF-17 to 16 aircraft and conducted preliminary negotiations on the partial localization of the assembly of these aircraft in Myanmar.
