I like collecting stuff from the second world war, mainly from the german and russian perspective, it began when I was about 13 and i bought my first iron cross. History is much more interesting when you can touch it, feel it. Much better than seeing it through the glass of a museum or looking at photos online.

Sadly, its only a replica, though its an excellent copy, theres only a few slight details that give it away. These go for about £300, a real deactivated one would set you back somewhere between £3-4000. I saw one in relic condition a few weeks ago, and i mean a relic, rusted to buggery and so fragile i wouldnt dare pick it up, and that was £700. So im quite happy with mine for the price i got for it.

Re: My new toy :)
Nice.
Can I recommend a toy I bought a while back.... it is basically a PMM, Makarov air pistol that is made in the same factories the real pistol is made in.
It strips and functions like the real thing and has the same weight, but obviously has a CO2 cartridge in the magazine and only fires small ball bearings.
I don't really shoot it much, it is more a collectors piece...

She's a beauty, congratulations.
"but why" - Nobody ever needs a reason for collecting things.

What kind of a question is that now? For the PLOD FFS. You never know when the Bobbies will pull a 'Swanson brothers' on people. Better be "pur'pared" mate. ACAB etc
