I really hope they do sell the S-300 because of the US and Israel doing about Ukraine and are war mongering against russia.

Russia will sell I have no doubt but I hope Iran will order 6 new Lada class and 1000 T-14 and 30 S-300 batteries as well as 150 of Su-35BM and ton of other stuff needed to fend of pesky gringos.

It does not take much for journos to make a mess and now the whole thing will go to "invisibility" mode
Given US policiy in Ukraine I have no doubt Iran, Argentina and whoever will se the best of Russian weapons in many more nice defense contracts to come
I like your posts Viktor. Always full of optimism.

I hope not that Armata will be for sale, it should be treated like T-64 and not selling it anyone, not even a downgraded version the T-90MS is already more than most countries can build themselfs even western competition.

Russia Confirms Sale of S-300 Missile Systems To Iran
MOSCOW — Russia on Tuesday confirmed its decision to deliver S-300 air defense missile systems to Iran, but said it could not yet announce a date.
"The decision on delivering S-300 to Iran has been taken but the realization of the project will take some time," Yevgeny Lukyanov, deputy head of Russia's security council, was quoted by Russian agencies as saying.
"As I understand, the time of delivery has not come yet," he said.
Talks on the controversial deal, which has been frozen since 2010, finished Monday with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian pronouncing them a "success."
Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Tuesday that the agreement is still being finalized.
President Vladimir Putin last month lifted a ban on supplying Iran with the sophisticated systems, following the landmark framework deal Tehran struck with the West over its nuclear program.
He said several days later that Iran is "demonstrating very high flexibility and clearly wishes to reach a compromise on this nuclear program," which is why Moscow lifted its own ban.
The decision sparked condemnation from Israel and concern from Washington, as it came before the lifting of the sanctions by the UN Security Council, which originally caused Moscow to freeze the deal.
Now Russia is arguing that the missile system is exclusively defensive and does not even fall under the sanctions.
Iran's Amir-Abdollahian predicted that the delivery would go through "at the soonest opportunity possible."
Iran's deputy oil minister Amirhossein Zamani-Nia said Monday he hoped for a total lifting of international sanctions later this year if world powers resolve all remaining contentious issues and strike the nuclear deal by its June 30 deadline.

The general director of "Almaz-Antei" is ready to deliver the S-300 to Iran
http://tass.ru/armiya-i-opk/2012784
MOSCOW, June 2. /TASS/. The concern "Almaz-Antey" is ready to supply anti-aircraft missile systems s-300, including Iran, stated on 2 June the General Director of the concern Yan Novikov.
"With us, all restrictions are removed, there will be a contract, will supply s-300 including the Iranian Republic," he said.
Earlier, President Vladimir Putin has lifted restrictions on the supply of s-300 systems to Tehran. Russian officials have stated that the decision to deliver has been made, however, until the contract is finalized.
The implementation of the previous contract to supply s-300, concluded in 2007, was suspended due to UN sanctions against Iran, imposed in the fall of 2010. Later Tehran challenged the decision by anti-aircraft systems through the court

Deliveries of what?
The country and its economy is close to collapse. Even if they hold out the whole country is devestate and has no way of paying.

Sure, but whether Iran pays/stations it's S300s there, or Russia does, seems pretty useful considering escalation in Turkey's involvement/ no-fly-zone talk/etc.

Collapse of Syrian govt and victory of terrorists might be much, much more expensive for Russia than couple of S-300 batteries.
If S-300 is thereor not we do not know and maybe never learn. Nevertheless as long as there is no direct western aggression on Syria we can assume something is already there. Syrian express is bringing cargo fairly often.

Syria stayed afloat so long just because of Russian (material and political) and Iranian (I presume mostly Hamas and volunteers) support. Which Gaddafi had none...
New S-300 is part of deal to protect Iran but is older S-300 are already there? maybe only Buks? Anyway must be enough strong AAD in Syria otherwise over Damascus would be NATO would perform carpet bombing genocide of civilian population as thy usually do.
IMHO this Iran´s nuclear deal is important for Russia to ¨import¨ Iran into SCO. This would be tremendous success and step in right direction in repelling western aggression and squeezing western influence out of inner Asia.

The sooner they get these systems in the country the better for Iran. I hope there wasn't some agreement on stalling these systems during the negotiations. Is there any truth behind the SU fighter purchase talk? Do we know what fighter is being discussed, if any?
