I'm still not convinced, by the patch.
Not that a single MBT capture is big news, but I do detect the propaganda points these FSA moderates are trying to achieve.

    Still sort of sux...

As my commanding officer once said: "Only worse thing than losing equipment, is arming your enemy with it". There is reason why we all despite not being frontline unit had handgrenades and rifles issued.

or maybe this would be a good occasion to bom it by RuAF together with FSA who did not keep cease of fire regime...

Well, it was bound to happen. M1A1's were captured by terrorists in Iraq as example. 1 T-90 tank isn't really a large lost especially since its shtora is broken and possibly other optics. So afterwards, it was probably abandoned. I wonder why the SAA didn't bother to burn the tank is kinda beyond me.

Nothing in there to learn though for US. Early 90's T-90 tanks were OK, Kontact 5 and such are great but not nearly as good as T-90A and T-72B3M. I think US had plenty of time to look into Kontact 5 through T-80U's in the past.

Regardless, a loss for SAA since such a machine has proven quite worthy for them. Idiots they are for losing it without torching it afterwards to prevent the enemy from gaining access.

Islamist rebels capture their first T-90 tank from the Syrian Army in Aleppo
    By Chris Tomson - 10/06/2016 11

During a Syrian Arab Army (SAA) offensive in northern Aleppo yesterday, rebels not only repelled the attack, but also captured a newly delivered Russian manufactured T-90 tank.

The heist was showcased on social media by Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki, an Islamist group operating in the Aleppo governorate.

Al-Masdar News investigated the claim with a military source embedded with the SAA’s Tiger Forces and can confirm the loss of one T-90 tank during yesterday’s battle.

According to the source, the tank suddenly malfunctioned, having suffered a complete power cut that rendered it useless. The tank crew then attempted to reboot the T-90 tank, but it failed to comply.

Subsequently, Syrian soldiers of the Tiger Forces dropped grenades into the tank and were forced to abandon it under heavy fire from insurgent positions.

The tank malfunction played a key role in obstructing yesterday’s offensive as it disrupted the Tiger Forces’ assault formation, forcing Major General Suheil al-Hassan to pull his troops back to their original positions on the outskirts of the Al-Mallah Farms.

^^ T-90 incident and subsequent abandoning was very unfortunate but hope UAVs are keeping a watch on the area to let know where the terrorists are moving the T-90 and who all the 'visitors' are.....but do they have UAVs that give real time videos??

Regarding loss of Tiger Forces T-90.... the terrorist video shows the tank being in motion and the report mentioned the forces putting grenades inside to disable the tank. So i'm guessing they put those grenades inside the combat module which was likely already empty. Else a grenade most likely would have caused the ammo to explode.
I hope except the mobility part, the combat module of that T-90 has indeed been neutralized by the said grenades.

There is reason why Muricans have thermite grenades as part of tank equipment. However spraying oil and diesel inside and lighting it up would do the job also.

Good work to the SAA! They lost a f*cking tank Russia provided in a damn offensive with support of infantry and armored vehicles. And why wasn't the Russian air force sent to help in a recovery OP. I just cannot wait for the Raqqa OP to finish so Aleppo can be focused on. I want all those terrorists murdered brutally.

How long do you fellow forumers think it will take to get to Raqqa and then how long would it take to liberate Raqqa?

It is going to be a bloodbath of epic proportions and only hope SAA has of coming out of there in anything resembling being alive is if ISIL gives up and retreats or if VKS levels the place Dresden style.

I just hope that during the battle Good Lord Darwin removes all incompetent SAA grunts from the gene pool but that would leave SAA with maybe 50 men left tops... Rolling Eyes

In Northern Syria, the French military began construction of a base

    http://ria.ru/syria/20160610/1445618397.html

DAMASCUS, June 10 — RIA Novosti. French forces, stationed in the North of Syria, began the construction of a military base near the city of Kobani in Aleppo province, said the Agency Sputnik Kurdish source.

"France began the construction of the base like the us. The French base will be built on the Mishta Nur hill located above the town of Kobane from the South-East side," said the source, adding that the base will serve to embed French military experts and advisers stationed in the area.

The source added that in the town of Manbij in Aleppo province is French and British experts, also there are American experts who advise the "Democratic forces of Syria" (SDF) in the fight against the terrorist group "Islamic state" (IG, is prohibited in Russia).

so Intl Law abiding France and US is helping terrorists to occupy Syria right? scum should go to hell

Please give us the forces structure and details regarding how many tanks/armored vehicles and troops were involved in the operation, objective of the operations and the plans.

You seems to know too much about everything happening on the ground sitting behind your computer hundreds of km away from the battlefield.

I'm curious to know what really happened which brought us to see that T-90 falling into the hands of the terrorists, so your insight would be helpful.

Loosing a T-90 is bad as such and on top of that such a situation...well hope not.
Btw, if I'm not wrong Tiger Forces probably got a (or more?) T-90 transferred to them during the Palmyra offensive and I had posted that image from twitter.

Last time they forgot to shut their cupola, disabling Shtora and got hit by an ATGM. We do see them taking an awful lot of selfies on twitter, grow hipster beards, juicing steroids and so on... so one could assume something in between happened.
