So under current circumstances it seems nuclear and other energy projects with turkey will most likely be delayed or even shelved. I hope the loss of Turkey won't be a significant setback for Russia. I we won't see Turkish stream being built anytime soon. Any chances current Bulgarian regime can be replaced with a pro Russian one so Russia can restart South stream?

It is better to focus on expanding North Stream than dealing with weak Balkanese governments.

Bolivia and Russia sign MoU on Nuclear Energy.

So this is the first step. In near future we could see Russian nuclear plants in Latin America. Hopefully Venezuela also goes with it too.

Ukraina plans to continue the uranium enrinchment contract with Russian TVEL. People are expected to sign a new contract in the spring of 2016.

Probably everybody knows that Kyiv is sending uranium to TVEL for enrinchment and these enriched uranium will be used for Ukraina's nuclear power plant. The value of trading this year is about 5 mil USD.

So... yeah, Maidan "patriots" still do business with Russian "invaders" pirat

Rosatom is expanding network to strengthen global footprint: Evgeni Griva, Rosatom (South Asia)

    http://www.financialexpress.com/article/industry/companies/rosatom-is-expanding-network-to-strengthen-global-footprint-evgeni-griva-rosatom-south-asia/208970/

Rosatom has been actively building up its network of regional offices. Do you plan to establish a representative office in India?

Rosatom is now actively expanding its global footprint. The State Corporation is opening its regional offices. Rosatom is expanding its branch network to strengthen its global footprint in accordance with its long-term development strategy of increasing the foreign orders portfolio up to $190 billion. This is the ambitious but achievable goal of the State Corporation for the next 5 years.

What is the current status of the Kudankulam nuclear plant construction project and is there any progress with the construction of power units 3 and 4?

Currently, the NPP Kudankulam project includes the construction of six power units with VVER-1000 type reactors. The first unit of Kudankulam NPP was commissioned in 2013 according to the latest safety requirements. By the beginning of the scheduled preventive maintenance (SPM) the nuclear plant had already generated 6873 million units of electricity, and the turbine generator had been in operation for 9267 hours. Thus, the installed capacity of the Indian nuclear power plants reached 5780 MW. This is the world’s first nuclear power plant, which has implemented and successfully operated “post-Fukushima” tightened security measures. The generation tariff for Kudankulam NPP is maintained at the level set by the Indian government in 2010-2011 without any escalation. This rate is considered to be one of the most competitive in India. The first SPM has now successfully completed, the turbine is running, and the unit is expected to be connected to the grid within a few hours. The second unit assembly is finished. The hot run stage is completed. The physical launch is scheduled by the Indian party for mid-2016.

During the recent visit of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Russia it was announced that the signing of the MFA for the construction of units 5 and 6 is planned in Q1 2016. What is the status of this project?

The technical and commercial proposal for the installation of Kudankulam power units 5 and 6 has already been provided to the Indian party. Atomstroyexport JSC and the Indian Nuclear Energy Corporation are currently involved in detailed discussions of the project and the Master Framework Agreement with regard to the Indian party requirements concerning further enhancement of the project safety and localisation.

In the same visit, it was announced that an agreement has been reached on allocation by the Indian party of one more site for a Russian design nuclear power plant apart from Kudankulam NPP which is already under construction. What is the progress in this area?

Apart from the Kudankulam NPP, Russia and India are considering the possibility of building a number of other nuclear power plants. These are all practical steps to implement the most important document signed on December 11, 2014 – “Strategic Vision of Strengthening Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy between the Russian Federation and the Republic of India”. An agreement has been reached on the allocation by the Indian party of one more site for the construction of six new nuclear reactors of Russian design. We hope to get more detailed information about the site from the Indian party as soon as possible.

The company has signed the production localisation program in India for Russian designed nuclear plants. What does this program envisage?

During the visit of the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to Moscow an Action Program was indeed signed between the State Corporation Rosatom and the Atomic Energy Department of the Government of India on the localisation of production in India for nuclear power plants of Russian design. The Action Program includes areas of cooperation in the field of joint machinery production, especially the production of equipment which can be supplied to nuclear power plants, as well as cooperation in the field of joint development, mastering and technological support of the implementation of end-to-end production technologies of products for heavy and power engineering industries.

Construction on the project "Breakthrough" in 2016 will cost 3 billion rubles

    http://ria.ru/atomtec_news/20160218/1376931047.html

MOSCOW, 18 Jul — RIA Novosti. The cost is scheduled for 2016 construction and installation works within the framework of Russian nuclear project "Proryv" will amount 3 billion rubles, is reported in the corporate newspaper of the enterprise of the fuel company of Rosatom TVEL "Siberian chemical combine" (SCC) "New era".
In the project "Breakthrough", which is performed at the site SGChE in Seversk of Tomsk region, will be worked out technologies of closed nuclear fuel cycle based on fast neutron reactor.
Power units with fast neutron reactors are considered to have great benefits for the development of nuclear energy. With their help it will be possible to close the nuclear fuel cycle, in which due to the expanded reproduction of nuclear fuel will significantly expand the fuel base of nuclear energy, and will also be able to reduce the volume of radioactive waste due to the "burning" of dangerous radionuclides. Russia, according to experts, ranks first in the world in construction technology of fast neutron reactors.
During "Breakthrough" will be created pilot demonstration power complex. In its composition enters the reactor on fast neutrons with lead cooled BREST-OD-300 and the complex on production of mixed nitride uranium-plutonium (SNOOP) fuel for this reactor and a facility for processing spent fuel. Fully "Breakthrough" scheduled to launch in 2023.
"At the moment the builders have completed the Foundation and the zero floor of the building of the future complex. Last year for site clearance and piling was sent to more than one billion rubles. In 2016 JSC "SGChE" is planning to perform construction and installation works at three billion rubles", — writes the edition.
SCK — forming enterprise of Seversk. It combines by four plants handling nuclear materials. One of the main activities of SCK — providing for the needs of nuclear power plants in uranium for nuclear fuel. The company also actively develops non-nuclear business.

Russia eyes manufacture of nuclear power components in India

Two countries plan to build 12 reactors in next two decades

ussian atomic power corporation Rosatom is looking forward to participating in the Make in India programme and assembly of fuel rods and control system components appear to be on the cards, an official said.

Oleg A. Grigoryev, Vice President of TVEL, Rosatom's fuel company, told IANS in an interview on the sidelines of the Atomexpo 2016 that it was looking forward to assembling fuel rods in India.

On similar lines, Andry Butko, Director of Rusatom Automated Control Systems (RASU), said that some components for nuclear power plants can be assembled in India. Gradually, components can be produced in India for use at home, by Russia and for exports.

This comes as an India-Russia joint venture, the nuclear power plant at Kudankulam, which has two of its reactors up and running while four more are in the pipeline. The two countries also plan to build 12 more reactors in the next two decades.

Grigoryev said his company is open to the proposal for localising some production in India, but added that it will be feasible only when more nuclear reactors are commissioned.

"We understand India has a strong desire to localise; we are open for such cooperation. We can localise the assembly," Grigoryev said.

"The fuel rods can be assembled in India using the fuel pellets we supply. We have already developed and signed a roadmap with schedule and specification of what has to be done, but much depends on the number of units," he said.

"A facility for assembly of fuel rods with just two reactors functioning in the present situation will not be profitable," he said.

Butko, on similar lines, said that India and Russia have a programme for localisation of manufacturing in the field of nuclear power.

"The other aspect is that of deep localisation, when we produce in India some components for India, Russia and also other countries," he said.

RASU is official business integrator of comprehensive industrial automation solutions provided by Rosatom for the international market. It builds the control systems for nuclear power plants, which can be called the brain of the plant.

"Currently India and Russia have a programme for localisation of components of nuclear power plants. There is an intergovernmental agreement on localisation and we are ready to become a part of it with our systems as well," Butko said.

A 'Programme of Action' for localisation of manufacturing in India for Russia-designed nuclear plants was signed between India's Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and Rosatom in December 2015.

The programme includes joint machinery production, especially for nuclear power plants, as well as cooperation in the fields of joint development, mastering and technological support for heavy and power engineering industries.

And so it begins the new era in nuclear industry

The potential for these systems is enormous... for example coastal places in the middle east they could use sea water and electricity to generate fresh water for the desert... in the pacific for small islands they can provide electrical power and fresh water. For coastal areas and areas near large rivers in Siberia they can provide heat and electricity and fresh water...

It took 12 years to make the FNPP, and it still before the loading of fuel.

It is too big, and too expensive atthe moment.

For next gen they are planning RITM-400, ifthey can putthat into a sub 20000 tonn vessel then it can be an economicaly viable project.

The current reactor is too small, and the overload of the Russian shipbuilding is too big.
