In 1978 MiG-23 aircraft were sent to Cuba, which caused concern in the USA.
"The Carter Administration denounced yesterday that Cuba has received an undetermined number of Soviet fighter planes, of which it is unknown whether they can transport and launch nuclear bombs. A spokesperson for the State Department confirmed that these planes appear to be the sophisticated Mig-23 and that The United States is currently analyzing whether the shipment of these planes violates the Soviet-North American understanding of 1962, which put an end to the so-called "missile crisis."..."

The differences between the MiG-23 and the MiG-27.

Another not so visible difference is that the MiG-27 has a pair of extra rear ventral supports.
    Apart from the 6-tube cannon.

More than 6,000 units of the MiG-23 and MiG-27 aircraft were manufactured.

This MiG-23M, photographed in the mid-1980s, carries R-23 and R-60 missiles and a ventral fuel tank. The MiG-23M became the first truly serial modification of the MiG-23. In total, the country's air force and air defense received about 1,300 fighters.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but your rate of posting posts borders on spamming.

Some members don't like that sort of thing, though it is not in the rules because you are not actually spamming and not off topic, but can I suggest you post when you have more than one thing to post.

That way you post several things at once.

I could also be useful if you try to start conversations or discussions.

In the 1970s and 1980s I found most of the Soviet aircraft to be a bit boring... the MiGs and early Sukhois all looked like shiny metal tubes with wings and tails on and were not very interesting to me at all and that was made worse by the F-16 and F-15... though to me the F-15 will always be an American copy of a MiG-25 which was an interesting aircraft.

Ironically by the end of the 1990s and early 2000s I was sick of seeing MiG-29s and Su-27s despite how excited I was when these two aircraft were revealed in the 80s and 90s.

Now I can see the development and technology trends in the different aircraft types and I actually find it fun thinking about taking really old planes and putting new stuff in them to see how that would effect their performance.

Something along the lines of taking a T-34 and putting an S-60 57mm gun on it and loading it with four round clips with modern APFSDS rounds and shooting up German tanks and vehicles of the time.

Imagine a Tu-16 with its old AM-3 engines with about 9,500kg thrust force each and weighing 3 tons each, replaced even with more modern lighter and more compact engines with better fuel efficiency.

Or indeed the Tu-128 with a modern AESA radar and newer engines to increase performance.

The plane I would like to rebuild and equip with all modern materials and engines and technology would be the ANT-25 long range aircraft... with modern composite materials and a modern fuel efficient engine it would be fun to see how much you could extend its range to.

In reality, I thought there was nothing about this plane, that's why I started posting some generalities, so I could later debate, as we had been doing in the MiG-29/35 thread.
