Saudi and UAE backed forces clash in southern Yemen as tensions flare up

BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:40 P.M.) – A renewed exchange of artillery between the Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces and the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council in the Abyan Governorate took place on Friday, resulting in a new wave of hostilities.

The spokesman for the Transitional Council forces in the Fourth Military Region and the Abyan Axis front, Muhammad al-Naqib, said on his Twitter account, that the forces of President Abd Rabbah Mansour Hadi’s government were responsible for violating the ceasefire regime in southern Yemen.

What a mess ! i remember some Saudis who said they have a good airforce so they will end the issue in a matter of months .

But look now after around 6 years of the Saudi intervention , even they can't protect the government there .

This is Allah's karma for the morally bankrupt Saudi's, and they're facing an Afghan War on their own borders. The SaudiMight Military should be happy the Eurasian powers haven't supported them to the extent that the Saudi's have supported insurgencies, otherwise Eastern Saudi Arabia would be a separate country right now.

When I see the results of Saudi Arabia screwing up these fights, it is like another look at similarly to India's military. All the mixed "best of the best" equipment doesn't win wars.

As soon as there is money trouble, they won't be able to field half the equipment they got.

Another video of battles in the Yemeni province of Ed-Dali between the Houthis and supporters of President Hadi, in which the T-34s were used. The Houthis captured the T-34-85 of the Hadis, finished off the crew, pulled out the ammunition, and then burned the tank.

You're doing a terrible disservice to the vastly more competent Indians by comparing them to Saudis. Sure, India's procurement system is so messed up that it more than hampers their performance on the battlefield especially against opponents who know what they are doing but they aren't combat inept to the level of the Saudis that even with a preponderance in material, superior technology, and the direct backing of a military superpower and a naval blockade of their opponent still manage to see themselves on the backfoot despite years of conflict. Give the Indians a lot more credit than that.

IAF is probably incompetent ( assuming they missed their target - jihadi training facility the previous day) but not for the above reason.

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman's Mig-21 succumbed to electronic jamming carried out by PAF. So he could not receive the instruction from ground control to return. At supersonic speed it takes a fraction of a second to cross the border, assuming his Mig-21 did cross the Line of Control (LoC). Not that he wanted to fight 2-3 PAF fighters.

Completely incompetent, apart from being corrupt. Last year got their ass handed out to them by the Chinese. Yet the Indians could not fight back. 10 months later the Chinese are digging in their heels and the Hindus neither have the guts nor the means to expel them.

Possible. It's quite possible that SPICE-2000 is quite a mediocre weapon. But as this latest report shows, Indian AF is procuring more SPICE and also HAMMER from France.

The IAF denied those charges (of missing the target) and released these details stating that the target was hit.

Why procure both HAMMER and SPICE? Basically they are of the same type. I do not know.

This same report also states that a number of Russian air to air and cruise missiles like Kh-31 is being procured.

Kh-31 is anti radiation. Those jihadis who were targeted apparently had 300 plus mobile phones that were switched on. IAF could have used Kh-31 to target that camp.

Most middle eastern countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain train their Air Force pilots quite well. Moreover, countries like Saudi Arabia and UAE also recruit regular pilots from Pakistan to boost their own capability.

Whether an M1 Abrams or a T-34 it seems to make no difference to the Houthis

They'll burn that sucker and chant in front of it
