The Leopard 2 pic is mine. Taken from the range tower
Thanks for sharing... wasn't being snippy...
when I re read my post I thought it sounded like a challenge... it was certainly not meant to be.
I thought if the original pictures were yours that you might remember how the situation developed... ie were the troops already there and the tank pulled up beside them or was the tank already there and the troops arrived.
As I mentioned the fact that they are facing prefabricated buildings I rather suspect main calibre tank fire was not expected so such a position is not as bad as it looks.
Being this close to the tank means you can see where his optics are pointed and therefore roughly what he is looking at and your points of references are very similar... ie dead ahead or 11 oclock etc etc for spotting targets and firing points of the enemy... the tank could fire "machine gun support" and use its optics to aide the infantry and in real combat might fire main gun ammo to support the attack if heavy fire appears to be coming from one building, but during this training I suspect main gun ammo would not be fired and if they did they would warn nearby troops.
I wonder if hearing protection is part of Ratnik 2 or the upcoming Ratnik 3... a set of directional microphones and ear protection would be rather useful in combat to improve situational awareness and protect the troops.
