Commander of the Northern Fleet: Borey submarines will form the basis of naval strategic nuclear forces in the next 30-40 years
They currently include seven strategic submarines.
SEVEROMORSK, June 1. /TASS/. Submarine cruisers of the Borey project will be the basis of naval strategic nuclear forces (SNF) in the coming decades. This was announced on Wednesday by the commander of the Northern Fleet (SF), Admiral Alexander Moiseev.
"The concept and plan for the construction and development of the Navy until 2033, as well as within the framework of the agreement between the Russian Federation and the United States of America "On measures for the further reduction and limitation of strategic offensive weapons" provide that in the next 30-40 years the basis of naval strategic nuclear forces will be "Boreas", - said Moiseev.
At the moment they include seven strategic submarines: nuclear submarines of project 667BDRM ("Dolphin") and projects 955 ("Borey") and 955A ("Borey-A").
At the same time, according to the commander, the general-purpose naval forces of the fleet will represent multi-purpose ships and submarines of five or six projects, mainly carriers of long-range high-precision weapons, including hypersonic ones. "At the same time, submarines of projects 885M Yasen-M, 636.3 and 677 will form the basis of the submarine forces, and frigates of the first rank of project 22350 of the Admiral Gorshkov type will be the basis of the surface forces," he added.
Now they are represented by three formations and a formation of naval subordination (the 43rd division of missile ships). They perform the tasks of combat service, combat duty, protection and protection of the state border in the underwater environment and in the airspace in the area of responsibility of the fleet.

In Vilyuchinsk, the nuclear-powered cruisers were met by the commander of the submarine forces of the Pacific Fleet, Vice Admiral Vladimir Dmitriev
MOSCOW, 28 September. /TASS/. Nuclear submarines (NPS) "Knyaz Oleg" and "Novosibirsk", transferred to the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy, arrived at their permanent deployment in the Kamchatka Territory. This was announced on Wednesday by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"Strategic nuclear missile submarine (Project 885A, Borey-A)" Knyaz Oleg "and nuclear submarine with cruise missiles (Project 885M, Yasen-M") "Novosibirsk", having made an inter-fleet transition from the Northern to the Pacific Fleet , arrived at the point of permanent deployment in Kamchatka," the message says.
A significant part of the route, almost 5,500 miles long, the nuclear-powered ships passed under the ice of the Arctic. As part of the Umka-2022 integrated Arctic expedition, the Novosibirsk nuclear submarine, being on the surface, launched the Onyx anti-ship cruise missile at a sea target from the Chukchi Sea.
In Vilyuchinsk, the nuclear cruisers were met by the commander of the submarine forces of the Pacific Fleet, Vice Admiral Vladimir Dmitriev. "He received a report from the nuclear submarine commanders on the completion of the Arctic inter-naval transition and congratulated the submariners on their arrival at their permanent base," the report says.
The Knyaz Oleg strategic missile submarine, built at Sevmash (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation), is the second submarine of the modernized Borey-A fourth-generation nuclear submarine project. She was laid down on July 27, 2014 and launched on July 16, 2020. The boats of the fourth generation differ from the first nuclear submarines of the Borei project by lower noise, more advanced systems for maneuvering and keeping at depth, as well as weapon control.
"Novosibirsk" is the first serial nuclear submarine of project 885M (code "Ash-M"). Laid down on July 26, 2013, launched on December 25, 2019. The main strike weapons of Project 885/885M submarines are Kalibr and Onyx cruise missiles.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the shooting was carried out from a submerged position from the White Sea at the Kura training ground in Kamchatka.
MOSCOW, 3 November. /TASS/. Nuclear submarine cruiser "Generalissimo Suvorov" has successfully fired a ballistic missile "Bulava" as part of the final stage of state tests. This was reported to journalists on Thursday in the Russian Defense Ministry.
"The crew of the newest strategic missile submarine Generalissimo Suvorov of the Borey-A project successfully fired the Bulava ballistic missile as part of the final stage of state tests," the military department said.
As specified in the Russian Ministry of Defense, the shooting was carried out from a submerged position from the White Sea at the Kura training ground in Kamchatka. "The flight of the Bulava ballistic missile took place in the normal mode. According to the confirmed objective control data, the warheads of the missile successfully arrived in the designated area of the Kura battlefield," they stressed.
Earlier, General Director of the Northern Machine-Building Enterprise (Sevmash, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) Mikhail Budnichenko told TASS that the Project 955A strategic nuclear submarine Generalissimo Suvorov was being prepared for transfer to the fleet.
Nuclear submarine strategic cruiser "Generalissimo Suvorov" belongs to the fourth generation of nuclear-powered ships of the improved project "Borey-A" (designer - St. Petersburg Central Design Bureau of Marine Engineering "Rubin"). The project implemented fundamentally new technical solutions, improved equipment, reduced the level of physical fields, increased security, and completed a set of works on import substitution.
"Generalissimo Suvorov" was laid down at the Sevmash plant on December 26, 2014, and was taken out of the shed on December 25, 2021. It is planned that the submarine will replenish and strengthen the grouping of nuclear submarines of the Pacific Fleet.
