Russia’s Voronezh Air Base to Get 5 Su-34 Fighters
MOSCOW, December 25 (RIA Novosti) – Five multi-role Su-34 bombers will be delivered for a second squadron of the Baltimore air base in Voronezh, southwest Russia, on Tuesday.
“Today five Sukhoi Su-34 multi-role frontline bombers have flown from the Novosibirsk aircraft factory’s air field. The jets will make a non-stop flight from Novosibirsk to Voronezh, a distance of over 3,000 kilometers,” said Western Military District (WMD) spokesman Col. Andrei Bobrun.
Bobrun said earlier that that the Novosibirsk aircraft factory planned to deliver ten Su-34 bombers to Voronezh in the near future.
The air force established its first Su-34 squadron at the end of 2011. A two-seat strike-dedicated derivative of the Su-27 fighter, the Su-34 can carry a payload of up to eight tons of guided weapons over 4,000 kilometers.
Russia launched full-scale production of Su-34s in 2008 at a Novosibirsk-based aircraft-manufacturing plant, a subsidiary of the Sukhoi Aircraft Holding.[b]

Re: Su-34 Tactical Bomber: News
Mystery solved
Today 5 Su-34 flew to Voronez and in within the month another 5 Su-34 will fly to Voronez
That will end Su-34 production planed at 10 one month late witch is like nothing happened.
But what is equally important is another confirmation about specific weapons being developed for just Su-34 will be over with testing
in 2013.
Remember seeing "alfa" missiles on Su-34 pic from back in 90ies.
I think Su-34 might all the sudden become very interesting export plane.

Russia to enlarge output of Sukhoi Su-34 bombers in 2013
Moscow - The Novosibirsk aircraft plant of the Sukhoi Holding (NAPO) will increase the output of Sukhoi Su-34 multirole bombers in 2013, a source in the defense sector told Interfax-AVN on Saturday.
"In 2013 the Su-34 production at NAPO will be larger than in 2012," the source said.
"While setting off batch production of Su-34, NAPO is constantly enlarging their output," he said.
NAPO made two Su-34 aircraft in 2009, four in 2010, six in 2011 and ten in 2012, the source said.
NATO is executing two state contracts: one to make 32 aircraft before 2013 and the other to make 92 aircraft before 2020. "The total order is 124 aircraft," the source said.
"The introduction of new cost saving technologies and equipment, the so-called smart manufacturing, is a token of a larger output of Su-34," he noted.
The Su-34 multirole fighter bomber is capable of destroying land, sea and air based targets in any geographic location regardless of the time of the day and weather conditions with the entire range of air-based weaponry, including high-precision. The active protection system and advanced computers of the generation 4+ aircraft assist in precision bombing and maneuvering while under enemy fire. Perfect aerodynamics, large capacity of internal fuel tanks, in-flight refueling ability, and extra fuel tanks increase the range of aircraft operation to the range of medium-range strategic bombers.
The aircraft has high flight and technical characteristics and maneuverability, long-range targeting systems, and a modern system for cockpit communication and data exchange with ground control stations, Army units, ships and aircraft. Su-34 carries highly efficient long-range multi-channel guided air-to-surface and air-to-air weaponry. It has an intelligent system of radar countermeasure and defense. Su-34 has high survivability and an armored cockpit. New air weapons will be installed in Su-34 to build up its combat potential.

Re: Su-34 Tactical Bomber: News
Its logical production must increase. With 10 Su-34 per year plan for 124 by 2020 (as today orders and I hope they will be increased)
can not be fulfilled. I hope they will soon be able to launch 20 or more Su-34 per year and introduce 200+ Su-34 by 2020

20 per year is the target they're aiming for and 200 Su-34's has been mentioned as the Air Force requirement when all Su-24's are retired.

Re: Su-34 Tactical Bomber: News
Well....we have 25-26 in RuAF service right now (not counting pre-serials). Some of them will remain in testing + have been heavily flogged, so might not have the same life as new birds being delivered to regular units.
With 15 a year, starting with 2013, we will end up with up with 130 by 2020, and that is being generous.
I am worried production will not get to 15 next year though, with all the system bottlenecks.

Izvestia caught making shit up, yet again
Recently they had an article that made its rounds in Russian media, that NAPO's work on Su-34s left a lot to be desired, and the plane had many deficiencies. They quoted a member of a MOD commission investigating the issue.
The MOD was contacted, and they made an official response - by a NAMED, existing polkovnik, Vladimir Drik: " Such a commission is made up, as are the "findings" ". He also stated that much of the facts presented in the Izvestia article were false.
Take Izvestia articles with an An-124 load of salt from now on. I suspect they will be @ an-225 levels soon though.

Re: Su-34 Tactical Bomber: News
Production is likely to increase each year, but I would suspect it wont continue to increase... it is called production management.
If you have to make 200 cars and you have ten years to do it, you don't plan to make 50 cars per year by the 3rd or 4th year... that is just bad planning.
I suspect they have planned their production capacity around the number of aircraft ordered and have structured the production to ensure they get all the planes built on time. They might fulfil the contract a little early but it wont be a lot early unless they know there will be a follow up order.
If you have an order for 140 aircraft you don't waste money creating facilities that can make 200 planes a year... unless you have assurances there will be a substantial follow on order or there are other planes that can be built in that production area that you have firm orders for.
In this case some assume that the Su-34 will be made to replace the Su-24 in numbers one for one. This is silly on many counts, first of all the Su-24 was a cold war aircraft to be used to fight WWIII... Russia has no need for such an aircraft in such numbers now, though it does need an aircraft, it has the luxury of getting a far more capable and sophisticated aircraft that can perform a range of roles that previously required several specialised aircraft.
Very simply the Su-34 can be a nuclear strike, conventional precision strike, jammer, recon, and anti ship aircraft.
The addition of Klub cruise missiles and Brahmos/Onyx missiles makes it a very capable strike aircraft.
The fact that it is so capable means fewer are needed... in fact fewer are wanted because having too many would mean not enough crew to operate it.
In addition the upgrades to the Tu-22M3M and Tu-160M and Tu-95MSM mean the long range strike role will actually be much better covered now than it ever was before for Russia.
Even the introduction of the PAK FA, which is multi role, the Su-35, which can also perform heavy strike missions, and the Su-30SM which also has significant strike capacity means that 140 Su-34s will probably be plenty.
Compared with the time of the Su-24 when the Tu-160 and Tu-95 were strategic bombers only, and the Tu-22M3 had dumb bomb delivery capacity and some anti radar capacity, though significant anti ship capacity too. The Su-27 had basic air to ground capability... in fact the only other aircraft with guided air to ground weapons were the Mig-27K/M and the late model Su-17s.
Very soon all Russian aircraft will have air to ground precision capability, so there will be no gap left with the retirement of the Fencer.

Re: Su-34 Tactical Bomber: News
Adding to what GarryB said, UCAV's are being developed so they will add to the ground attack platforms. The Su 34 will be a perfect mini command and control aircraft to guide various uav's and ucav's. Few AA missiles backed up with wingtip ecm pods and some fuel tanks, range will not be a issue. It has a spacious cockpit and the necessary comfort for long range missions.

Sukhoi Delivers 5 Su-34 Bombers to Russian Air Force
NOVOSIBIRSK, January 25 (RIA Novosti) - The Novosibirsk aircraft plant, part of the Sukhoi holding, delivered five multirole Su-34 strike aircraft to the Russian Air Force on Friday, the manufacturer said.
The jets will make a nonstop ferry flight from Novosibirsk to an air base in Voronezh, southwest Russia, a distance of over 3,000 kilometers (1,800 miles).
Six Su-34s were delivered to the Air Force in 2011, as part of an initial contract signed in 2008 for 32 aircraft. The Voronezh base received its first five Su-34 warplanes in late December.
Last year, the Defense Ministry said it would take delivery of 10 Su-34s in 2012, all of them to be deployed in the Western Military District.
The Air Force is due to get 92 Su-34s by 2020, in a contract signed in March 2012.
Together with the 2008 contract, the Air Force will eventually have a total of 124 Su-34s.
A two-seat derivative of the Su-27 fighter, the Su-34 can carry a payload of up to eight tons of precision-guided weapons over 4,000 kilometers.
The aircraft will eventually replace all of the ageing Su-24 strike aircraft in service with the Air Force and Navy.
The first Su-34s were manufactured in Novosibirsk in 2006, with series production starting in 2008.

Thanks TR1 for posting it , So in 2012 they got 12 Su-34 and that is what is lined up ?
