Same as SAP 14. Not a new jammer. L700 Tarantul ECM pod can provide electronic cover for a group of aircraft,Isos wrote:Is Tarantul the same thing as SAP 14 or a new jammer ? Do you have any official datasheet.

The upgraded Su-34 fighter-bomber of the 4++generation has entered service with the mixed aviation regiment of the Central Military District (CVO) in the Chelyabinsk Region. The flight and engineering staff of the regiment received the updated aircraft at the manufacturer's factory and flew to the permanent base airfield in the Chelyabinsk region, the Press Service of the Central Military District reports. The improved Su-34 fighter-bomber is equipped with special equipment that increases the aircraft's ability to detect air and ground targets and expands the arsenal of used means of aircraft destruction. The Sukhoi company is creating a modernized version of the Su-34 front-line bomber, which is in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS). The upgraded Su-34M fighter-bomber will be delivered to the Russian Aerospace Forces from 2021, UAC General Director Yuri Slyusar said in August 2020. "The appearance of the Su-34M, which we already have and serial deliveries will begin next year, it certainly makes the car unique," Slyusar said on the Zvezda TV channel. According to him, now the VKS is armed with more than 100 Su-34s, reminds the VTS "Bastion". Su-34 bombers have been actively involved in the fight against ISIL in Syria since the first days of the Russian operation in 2015.For five years of combat work in Syria, not a single Su-34 was lost, they have proven to be a reliable and effective machine. The incoming aircraft became the first Su-34 fighter-bomber in the Central Military District, which underwent modernization and entered service with the Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Central Military District in 2021. Re: Su-34 Tactical Bomber: News
can anyone make clear how many new su-34s and upgraded su-34ms respectively have been contracted?
https://dambiev.livejournal.com/2255139.html
Novosibirsk aircraft plant (NAZ) named after V.P. Chkalova
Last year, the Russian Ministry of Defense signed a three-year contract for the construction of a large batch of front-line Su-34 fighter-bombers. According to official information, in May 2020, a contract was signed with the Sukhoi company for the production of 76 Su-34 aircraft. According to plans, until 2027, it is planned to build from 8 to 14 Su-34 aircraft every year.
According to the TASS news agency, at first a batch of 20 Su-34 aircraft will be built at NAZ, and then upgraded Su-34M aircraft will be built and handed over to the Russian military.

Re: Su-34 Tactical Bomber: News
My understanding is that the last batch ordered was for 24 not 20 and then the new 76 Su-34M. They mentioned that all the first batches was to be upgraded to the new standard. Obviously that is starting already.

Apparently it's getting an 'improvement of the sh141 radar system to sh141m standard comprising the V400M radar and K-030BM computer' (Sukhoi, Key Publishing 2020)

Do you have the key publishing link by any chance for my self interest? If rostec presented 3 GaN EW airborne systems in 2014 for su-34, Su-57 and su-35, While the su-34 and su-57 received new radars designated with M in front of them, i wonder what the chances are the su-35 has new radar.

You'd have to buy it. I'd say it was worth it.

Re: Su-34 Tactical Bomber: News
All I want to hear is that they will be installing Kinzhals on new Su-34s
I would say new missiles being developed for the Su-34 will make the Kinzhal look a bit boring to be honest...
I would think hypersonic scramjet powered Zircon and mini Zircon like missiles similar to the Brahmos and Brahmos M type but based on Zircon instead of Onyx would make a lot of sense.
The Su-34 is a tactical strike aircraft so ground and sea based targets being attacked with manouvering mach 9-10 speed missiles with a range of 1-2 thousand kms would be very useful... the shorter range being useful because the reduced size would allow it to carry 6 instead of one...

Re: Su-34 Tactical Bomber: News
I don't know if this has already been posted somewhere else:
Sukhoi and ice: Su-34s will be deployed at airfields of Arctic islands
Fighter-bombers will help ensure control over the Northern Sea Route
The Ministry of Defense will deploy a squadron of Su-34 fighter-bombers at the airfields of the Franz Josef Land and Novosibirsk Islands archipelagos. Special infrastructure is already being built there for their permanent deployment. Multi-purpose combat vehicles will be able to conduct patrols, reconnaissance and strike with high-precision weapons. This will strengthen Russia's defense capability in the Arctic latitudes, including along the Northern Sea Route (NSR), experts say.
At extremely low temperatures
At the Nagurskaya and Temp airfields, they are creating all the necessary infrastructure for basing Su-34s, including closed warm hangars for their placement and maintenance, sources in the Ministry of Defense told Izvestia. There are also open parking spaces for IL-78 refueling aircraft and Il-76 military transport aircraft. In the near future, it is planned to conduct additional research exercises of operational and tactical aviation to work from these air bases.
Polar Hook: Russian Su-34s proved their ability to work in the Arctic
Exercises in extremely low temperatures lasted for several weeks
Major General Igor Churkin, Chief of Staff of the 45th Air Force and Air Defense Army, said that improving the airfield network in the Arctic significantly increases the possibilities of using Northern Fleet aviation. It will be able to control the airspace in the area of the NSR water area and will ensure the safety of this transport artery from the air.
Earlier, Izvestia reported that this spring the Su-34 successfully completed a full test cycle in the Arctic. Temporarily relocated to Murmansk, the aircraft of the Shagol aviation regiment tested in practice the ability to hit ground, sea and air targets at extremely low temperatures. Their onboard equipment was also tested.
"Multifunctional Su-34s are universal aircraft," military expert Dmitry Boltenkov told Izvestia. - They are capable of attacking not only land, but also sea targets with high-precision weapons. And operating from the Nagurskaya and Temp airfields, they can work for quite long distances, conduct reconnaissance and patrol, and control the Arctic space. Their arsenal also includes modern medium-range air-to-air missiles and a good radar. Most likely, air groups consisting of four aircraft will be deployed on the islands. Placing an entire squadron on a permanent basis in such extreme conditions is much more difficult.
Russia has historically considered the northern part of the Arctic a zone of its strategic influence, so now it is building up its forces there in order to protect its economic interests, the expert recalled.
Island air bases
In total, 13 airfields and runways (runways) in the island and mainland parts of northern Russia were repaired and rebuilt under the project for the restoration and development of military Arctic infrastructure.
On the island of Alexandra Land in the Franz Josef Land archipelago, operation of the first concrete runway built from scratch began in May last year. Development of the Nagurskaya airfield serving the Arctic Shamrock airbase continues. In the near future, the runway length will be increased to 3.5 km, which will allow receiving any type of aircraft, including heavy transporters and strategic bombers.
On the island of Alexandra Land, Il-76s with paratroopers and MiG-31s have already landed. In March, one of the interceptors flew for the first time from the Nagurskaya airfield to the North Pole, performed combat training tasks there, and successfully returned with two refueling operations in the air.
A similar airfield is being built on Kotelny Island in the New Siberian Islands archipelago near the Severny Klever base. The planes returned there in 2013, after a 30-year absence. Now the unpaved runway is being converted to concrete.
Air presence
In December 2020, the Ministry of Defense announced the beginning of permanent fighter duty at the renovated Rogachevo airfield on the Novaya Zemlya archipelago. MiG-31BM and carrier-based Su-33s are sent there on the principles of rotation.
At the end of last year, MiG-31BM interceptors were also deployed in Anadyr on the Chukchi Peninsula. Fighters from there have already been deployed several times to escort American reconnaissance aircraft approaching the Russian border.
- Aircraft in the Arctic perform a double task. The Northern Sea Route and the United States are located nearby, "former UN Deputy Secretary-General Sergei Ordzhonikidze told Izvestia. - Russian forces are being deployed closer to the territory of a potential enemy. Recently, we have seen an intensification of the struggle for the NSR and attempts by the United States to question our rights in this region. Of course, this makes it necessary to strengthen the military presence in it.
During the Soviet era, no one challenged the country's Northern Sea Route, the diplomat noted.
— No one went there, and we didn't use it very actively. Although no one could compete with us in terms of the number of icebreakers, as, however, they still can't, " said Sergey Ordzhonikidze. — And today, the North is a sensitive point for both the United States and us. The region is of great importance not only from a military point of view, but also from an economic point of view. There are huge reserves of hydrocarbons and other resources. And any diplomatic and political dispute, if it is not supported by forceful arguments, will always be not in your favor.
The Northern Sea Route is a strategically important transport highway with a length of almost 5.5 thousand km. This corridor is the shortest route between Europe and East Asia. Most of it is located in the territorial waters of the Russian Federation, as well as in the zone of Russian economic interests. It transports oil, gas and timber produced in the North, as well as foreign cargo. The duration of navigation there last year was already more than nine months. As the climate warms, the interval will increase, and in the future navigation there may become year-round.

Smaller unit under development for the Su-34 and Tu-22M3 to carry.
Testing of a new small-sized hypersonic missile "Ostrota" for bombers should begin next year, Izvestia learned. Aircraft armed with such ammunition will become part of the Russian non-nuclear deterrent force. The new missiles will help our country maintain a leading position in this high-tech type of weapon, with their help it is possible to deliver irresistible strikes against the most protected objects, experts noted.
The new missile will be used by long-range bombers Tu-22M3 and operational-tactical Su-34, sources in the defense department told Izvestia. The start of flight tests of the ammunition, which does not yet have an official designation, is scheduled for 2022, follows from the schedule of work on the project (available at Izvestia's disposal). The development is carried out as part of the development work under the code "Ostrota" in the machine-building design bureau "Raduga" them. AND I. Bereznyak.
