The rocket is modified S-75 / SA-2 surface to air.

Original system was of cumbersome design, radio controlled with radar, antennas, command truck and what not, not autonomous but stationary site.

    Something like this:

There is no way Yemeni Qahir-1 functions like that. All old S-75 launching sites are probably destroyed by saudi airstrikes anyway, not to mention it sole purpose was shooting down aircrafts.

The interesting thing is guidance system, how they make it to pretty precise surface-surface mode.

So the questions stands if this rocket have some Mcgyvery GPS guidance or sth. ?

But we don't even know whether they're able to hit saudi targets or not OR what if houthis are lying with their propaganda BMs attack with Qahir neither do we know saudi were able to intercept it because whenever they intercepted scud media flashed it readily.

There is no way to know anything for sure without on site footage and/or satellite coverage .

I don't know what sarabs are "flashing" in their TV but last Scud launch was on 15 October , and wasn't even done by Houthis.

One thing is certain, they are distorting "facts" to justify resuming airbombing of Sanaa for the western MSM consumption.
    .
This is why they were lying about any recent launch from there. All those launches could only happened from mountain northern region close to saudi border and not from Sanaa.

But Saudis at least indirectly confirmed those launches.: "attacks on the kingdom's territories by firing ballistic missiles towards Saudi cities, targeting Saudi border posts, and hampering aid operations".

Of course they don't say anything about effect of those launches.

Actually they even lie about destroying launchers ( where is footage of that ? )

    read here :

    http://reliefweb.int/report/yemen/saudi-led-coalition-announces-end-yemen-ceasefire

"The statement comes after the coalition announced that Saudi air defence forces had intercepted a ballistic missile fired from Yemen towards the kingdom's city of Abha late on Friday.

The "launcher was located and destroyed in Yemen," it said."

We don't know for sure what is happening clearly in Yemen but Riyadhis are completely untrustworthy , it's just nothing more than Goebbels-like propaganda. All this crap how Yemenis are loving them, and they are there to help, always accusing Houthis of worst crimes, genocide, while denying that they themselves are bombing civilians, hospitals, schools Pretty much clone of urkian-banderistas type of shyt.

So no can't trust them on anything.

I have said this many times on this forum:

    The S-75 (SA-2) has a surface-surface mode.

On the top-left side of the operator's console, there is a switch called ZEMLYA (Ground).

When the Zemlya mode is switched on, the operator can manually enter the coordinates (distance, azimuth, height) of the intended target. The launched missile strikes the target with precision.

Basically, in the anti-air mode, a typical SAM system launches a missile towards the target who's coordinates (distance, azimuth, height) are provided by the radar. In the Zemlya mode, it is the same thing, except that the coordinates are entered manually by the operator.

Unguided S75 basically. You take paper, map, GPS and prepare it for launch basically.

How many necessary components ( i mean bare minimum) of full S-75 system are needed to function like that properly ?

    @Dima

Yup that's the mini convoy i wrote earlier.

Missile, launcher, komandny punkt (command point), cables etc.
...and a good operator who knows what he is doing.

I know that the Zemlya mode is very accurate to distances of 25 km. Beyond that, I don't know.

The Yemenis may or may not use their missiles as I described above.
Alternatively, they may use it in a ballistic mode (with terrible accuracy).

It seems Saudis  are highly impressed by ballistic missiles performance in Yemen. now most of Saudi Patriots and Airforce is around the Yemen. it give opening to Ruaf incase it want to do air to air target practice.

The RM-75MV low altitude target missile and the RM-75V high altitude target missile are part of the Lissa-M ground based mobile missile target system.

Flight range for the MV is up to 40km and tge V is 40-100km depending upon trajectory... note the flight altitude for the MV is between 50m and 500m while the V model operates between 1,000m and 20,000m. Flight speed is 200-650m/s for the MV and between 350 and 1,200m/s for the V model.

Control for both models is autonomous using a computer programme and also radio command.

This version is intended to be used as an aerial target for testing air defence forces of all types and likely would not include a warhead but would include all sorts of recording and telemetry equipment.

It would not have a radar in the nose or supporting electronics either.

I would suspect a small sat nav receiver and electronics less powerful than your average iphone would suffice to get it to fly to impact a target area on the ground fairly accurately...

As mentioned several times above even the original SAM model had an ground to ground channel of guidance.

The wounded and killed figures for men, women and children are very illuminating.

Normally one would expect wounded to greatly exceed killed, which is the case for men. However, for women the numbers are about the same and more children are killed than wounded. That suggests women and children have been deliberately targetted, or at least places where they congregate were deliberately targetted (schools, hospitals etc).

Sure enough, schools and hospitals are high on the infrastructure target list.

The Israeli style security switch, was very lacking and the indians had some issues with them. Especially when they started to "run wild". Good times at the range.

Its seems like the God of War has some grudge against docs w/o borders:

    https://www.rt.com/news/328425-yemen-msf-clinic-attack/

At least four people have been killed in a missile strike on a Medecins Sans Frontieres medical facility in Yemen, a spokesman has confirmed. The organization “strongly condemns this,” while adding that 10 people have been injured in the attack.

The facility, which was hit by a rocket on Sunday, is in Razeh in the north of the country. In a statement on Twitter, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) say they, "strongly condemn this and we reiterate to all parties to the conflict that patients & medical facilities must be respected."

My guess is the MSF, unlike HRW, has not been fully co-opted by the US, and they are being shown the errorof their ways.

Zaydi Yemenis are tough nut to crack, Ottoman Turks lost 70,000 men in Zaydi insurgency during 1540s when they were at the peak of their power. Situation was so weird that Ottoman sultan had to relocate best troops & commanders from Europe cause Egyptians and Hejanites were too scared to venture into Yemen highlands. Even then, Yemen was largely independent from Sultans with exception of few coastal cities, only in 19th century Zaydis nominally accepted Ottoman sovereignty but kept self-rule with minimal involvement of Ottoman authorities.

Yeah and they even fled in a hurry when the reinforcement boats landed in an ambush anno 1630 and the Sultan had to pay Ransom to free about 5000 troops and rebuild Mocha 5 years later. Sheytan Yezit.

Seems like sick people will not go to hospital anymore, their diseases may never be cured.

    https://www.rt.com/news/329388-yemen-hospitals-attacks-targets/

Yemeni hospitals seen as targets, people ‘avoid them as much as possible’ – MSF

The constant bombing of health facilities in Yemen has created conditions in which the locals fear for their lives and try to avoids hospitals at all costs, MSF said, noting that over 100 facilities have witnessed attacks ever since the Saudi-led intervention.

A week after a missile hit the Shiara hospital in Yemen, killing six and injuring seven people, Yemenis are trying to visiting medical facilities only in acute cases of emergency, as being present inside any medical facility is seen by the locals as an imminent threat to their lives.

“People still consider hospitals a target and try to avoid them as much as possible. The only cases that we are receiving are emergencies and mass casualties following attacks,” Juan Prieto, general coordinator of Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) projects in Yemen said.

I am waiting for any, if any, response from Saudi and its master in White House, whether they can deliver any resonable and sensible response or not.
