UAE signed an agreement to acquire 50 American F-35A fighters and 18 MQ-9B UAVs

As reported by the Reuters news agency ,On January 20, 2021, just an hour before the inauguration of the new US President Joe Biden, the United States and the United Arab Emirates signed an intergovernmental agreement (in the form of an exchange of Letters of Offer and Acceptance - LOA) on the supply of the UAE through the US Intergovernmental Foreign Military Program Foreign Military Sales (FMS) sales of 50 fifth generation Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II fighters, guided weapons for them, and 18 General Atomics MQ-9B long-range unmanned aerial vehicles with weapons. The total value of the agreements was $ 23.37 billion, including training and technical support packages. Thus, the UAE will become the first Arab country to receive F-35 fighters, which became possible thanks to the recent settlement of relations between the UAE and Israel.
