2 sniper attack are caught with their pants down by local defenses Pro Russia..near the ukrainian military base..when they get close to stop them..they began to fire.. wounding 2 and killing 2. One sniper was arrested the other ran away.. The snipers were a third group.. just like in kiev.. trying to provoke both sides to fight..

    Well this is unexpected.
MOSCOW, March 18 (RIA Novosti) – Ukraine’s breakaway region of Crimea will ask Tatars to vacate part of the land where they now live in exchange for new territory elsewhere in the region, a top Crimean government official said Tuesday.

Can somebody get some more details on this, cause it starting to look like they are forcing the Tatars out of there homes, which i hope isn't the case.  Sad

India won't back western sanctions against Russia over Crimea

CNN -IBN wrote:India has decided not to go with western block on sanctions against Russia over the Crimea issue, say sources. India has stated its position to not support unilateral sanctions by any country unless authorised by the UN. Sources say India is taking a balanced view of the situation as of now.

Sources say India is keenly watching the special UNGA session to be called on Thursday or Friday. If Ukraine simply moves a resolution stressing on respect for territorial integrity, India is likely to go with it. But if the resolution speaks of condemnation of Russia, it will split down countries and India might look at abstention options, sources have said.

Earlier on Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin explained the situation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who underlined India's position on "unity and territorial integrity" of countries and hoped a diplomatic solution would be found to the issue. Singh expressed the hope that all sides would exercise restraint and work together "constructively to find political and diplomatic solutions that protect the legitimate interests of all countries in the region and ensured long-term peace and stability in Europe and beyond."

Putin, who is facing the prospect of international isolation in the wake of its action, telephoned the Prime Minister at 7.30 pm and discussed the evolving situation in Ukraine and the recent referendum in Crimea. Thanking Putin for explaining the Russian position with regard to recent developments in Ukraine, Singh "emphasized the consistent position India had on the issues of unity and territorial integrity of countries", an MEA statement said.
Putin, earlier in the day, took the first steps to absorb the Ukrainian region of Crimea into Russia, in what would mark the most significant redrawing of Europe's borders since World War II. Putin officially informed the Russian Parliament of Crimea's request to join Russia and instructed the national branches of power to approve an agreement for Crimea to become a part of the country.

Singh and Putin also discussed the close relationship and mutually-beneficial partnership between the two countries, the statement said. They reaffirmed the importance that both countries attach to their special and privileged strategic partnership.
The Prime Minister also thanked Putin for his personal leadership in further deepening and strengthening the India-Russia strategic partnership in recent years, it added.

Japan PM threatens Moscow with more sanctions over Crimea

    19 Mar 2014

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Wednesday condemned Russia for violating Ukraine's territorial integrity and threatened to impose further sanctions against Moscow over its role in the Crimean crisis.

TOKYO: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Wednesday condemned Russia for violating Ukraine's territorial integrity and threatened to impose further sanctions against Moscow over its role in the Crimean crisis.

President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday signed a treaty claiming the Black Sea region as Russian territory after more than 97 per cent of Crimeans voted in favour of Kremlin rule in a disputed referendum.

The West, which has imposed sanctions of its own, condemned Moscow's actions as a blatant annexation of Crimea.

"(Russian action) violates Ukraine's unity, sovereignty and the integrity of its territory, and we condemn it," Abe told a parliamentary committee.

"Our country cannot overlook an attempt to change the status quo by force," he added.

Japan's foreign ministry on Tuesday announced it was suspending negotiations with Russia on easing visa requirements and would not be starting talks on a new investment accord.

"We will consider further measures, while cooperating with G7 nations and other countries," Abe said Wednesday, without elaborating.

The mass-circulation Yomiuri newspaper said that additional action would include restricting visas and freezing assets.

Abe also said Wednesday that, if his schedule permitted, he would attend a G7 summit in the Hague next week called by US President Barack Obama to discuss the escalating showdown with Russia.

Japanese trade minister Toshimitsu Motegi, who was scheduled to attend a Russian investment forum in Tokyo on Wednesday, was "unable to attend" because he had to be in parliament, a ministry official told AFP on Tuesday.

Well technically speaking Russia took Crimea the same way the USSR took the Kurils. And the whole episode can't leave the Jips with much hope that Russia will give up any of its territory at all. Their reaction is warranted

How is their reaction warranted??? You do know that the Shinzo Abe govt. is a neo-fascist govt? According to Shinzo Abe the Japanese Imperial fascists were the victims of WW2, and he's made claims that fascist Japanese never raped any women and denies that Rape of Nanjing ever happened, there whole island claims are based on the unsubstantiated belief that Japan was the victim of WW2 and that they were not military aggressors. Here's an article discussing Shinzo's views on WW2 "comfort women":

Germany has placed sanctions on as trade with Russia. Reihmetall deals canceled.

Guess I was right after all when I said that Russian mod needs to buy Russian, not export. That said, they should probably face no issues then copying whatever they got and improve upon it themselves, as well as sell to whomever they please, withought backlash.

Who cares if Ukraine goes NATO?

Does nothing since the only strategically important part of Ukraine is now Russian.

Russia already has NATO members, nothing has changed.
