The 'logo' of the revolution shares a lot of similarities with the Serbian group called Otpor that brought down Milosevic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otpor! They have links to other color revolutions ranging from Georgia to Ukraine (in 2004 and supposedly 2014) and Arab Spring Revolutions like Egypt. A lot of those revolutions also used fists as their logos. https://twitter.com/US_progress/status/614428785354649600

Here is some of the things that have been floating around on Twitter:

It is clear that this is a US colour revolution ploy. They have no actual cause for protests other than some populism about electricity
prices but they work with what they have. In Ukraine it was corruption that was used as the pretext. They try to pull the corruption
    BS in Russia as well.

Here in Ontario, Canada, we don't have street protests over the rising electricity prices. And these prices have increased
quite a bit after "deregulation" and the breakup of Ontario Hydro.

I say that laws should be passed that hand out 5 year jail terms for protestors blocking streets illegally. If they can't
protest peacefully along designated roads they can go to hell.

Armenia would get royally screwed if a successful maiden took place in Armenia. The way the current government is operating in dealing with these protests is clearly not working as the protests are still ongoing. This is how Yanukovich failed. But Armenia as a country would be royally screwed and the 5th coloumnists whom are helping orchestrate this do not understand. Or they do, but don't care about their country at all. As for the rest of them, they wouldn't protests this long after a hike of $80 a year in electric prices. More has been spent per person already in these week long protest than what they will be spending a year on in electric prices.

If anybody wants to, I still would recommend following this guy on twitter. He is the side of the protesters but he gives a good "boots on the ground" view of the situation.

I wish we could hear from TheArmenian about what he makes of the situation. I hope he stays safe.

    Well that settles it then.
Armenia is going down. Government there doesn't know how to handle it and is only emboldening the protestors to greater demands.
Soon they will all be skipping on Yerevan square; кто не скачет тот москаль! lol1 lol1

Keep in mind that these provocatuers and inciters do not represent +95% of the people protesting (one of which has been spotted wearing a St. George's ribbon, all of which have spoken Russian to Russian reporters and 99% of which are claiming that the protest is not against Russia).

However, these provocatuers are represented amongst the organizers and ringleaders of these protests, as well as its PR - which is a worry.

I honestly cannot, but anything is possible.

The thing is that in the Ukraine it wasn't just the crowd; it was also the vast majority of the oligarchial elite, along with all the media that they controlled that kept bluring out anti-government propaganda. Plus the ultra-nationalist groups such as Pravyj Sektor, Svobodists and so on.
You also had the East-West divide which was fueling dissent, with the East being respectable citizens who followed democratic methods and the constitution, tolerating pro-West governments when they had to, and the West being uneducated peasants who foamed at the mouth about the first pro-East government that they had to endure and decided to get rid of them with mob rule and violence.

There is none of that in Armenia. I also doubt that the Armenian government will let EU leaders in to make speeches to the protestors and so on - that's a mistake that's easy to learn from and not repeat.

The anti-Russian protesters should be immediately arrested.
There is no possibility to compromise with them. It is not in their interest.

Kinda late but a word on the street that there has been a coup and a new leadership has hijacked the protest movement. Still only rumors and there hasn't been any real confirmation. In other news, the protesters are still waiting for the imminent police dispersion attempt...

Yerevan Police Arrest Activist Calling for Armed Action Amid Protest

    Good.  Right thing to do.

Armenian PM says some people among Yerevan protestersseek to destabilize the country

Only 1000 people at the protest. How pathetic. Added, all the instigators, hopefully they are arrested, questioned and investigated.

The protest is apparently under new management. I wouldn't worry about the low number of protesters, if it really is an American funded revolution they will increase their numbers.

Update: The police have started to dismantle the barricades but it looks like the protesters numbers are unfortunately growing again. ~0730 Yerevan time

So it looks like the protests are drawing down with the most prominent propagandists reporters on Twitter are saying how much ElectricYerevan has affected the country. Thinking back to the events that happened over a year ago on the Maidan, the first wave of protests ended in December with many saying the same things that are being said on the streets of Yerevan right now. But the most extreme protesters came back on January over a rather insignificant law and everybody else followed behind them.

Update: Maybe it isn't over yet. From the US State Department themselves a peaceful protester himself: https://twitter.com/babken/status/615426723312594944

The same rumours were constantly flying on Maidan twitters, very rarely amounting to anything (and when they did - only by co-incidence) - as a means of increasing agitation and anger among the protestors.

Venezuela and Macedonia were failed attempts. If last protest in Kyrgyzstan was an attempt, that failed too. So far, Armenia one is ongoing but I imagine it wont last that long either.

Aremnian protest is still going lets see how it'll turn out .

Not to forget US is also constructing its new biological center in ukraine to make bio weapons after GEorgia . So russia is now surrounded with 2 bio-weapons lab which will be used by usa army near its borders . Meanwhile Russia except complaining is doing nothing

Yes, I am curious about the biochemical plants in Georgia and Ukraine.

Kyrgyzstan I think is more prepared plus they seem to care even less about internationals in Europe complaining about how they handle internal strife, so I think they can combat it. Armenia is having some trouble but I doubt its maiden survival since 1000 people isnt much.

Protest organizer in Kyrkyzstan met the us official during/after the protests. It was their first attempt.

Dont get me wrong. Russia is at fault for not doing anything to prevent these issues. I think they should be bombing the biochemical plants right now, long range cruise missile strike, but they are not. Some sort of way to stick it into their own countrymens and opposition noses to prove US is evil, even if it costs millions in Russia their lives in the future.

This is a maidan, hopefully Russi offers asstiance to the Armenian government(provide them with loans or something), if Russia does not act now, then Russia is going to lose Armenia the same way as Russia lost Ukraine.
