You know just part probably tho (not that i know all) but one of the funniest things is when Serbs would put couple old trucks in small forest, light a small camp fire, and put few chimney pipes up to sky and partially mask them with nets (to imitate howtizers) and then turn engine on one of the trucks, and if none work then chainsaw and let it be there, move away 500m. Enjoy the fireworks 30min later they were dropping tons and tons on payload on such targets recklessly thinking they found concentrated forces.
Or turning on all types of old and decomissioned radars that were repaired for that purpose to make them waste expencive anti-radiation missiles, even spare fighter radars with powersource.
first off welcome to the forum of course.
and it might suprise you or it might not, but NATO's sensor detection and imaging and its intell officer's interpreting those has not changed much since then. NATO's Leadership believes itself it has technological, strategic and tactical superiority over any enemy they engage in the post-cold war battlefield. they rarely question their own conclusions, or...like murphy's law of combat says "if your attack is really going well, its an ambush". its a line that is not known with most NATO officers. mostly if some officer made an error the paperwork is quickly forwarded to the paper shredder in the office. they really got good at that last part in the last 20 years or so.
funny part on the story you told is that it shows exactly that, that NATO jumps at anything without giving it an second tought that it might be a ruse. also the usage of bomb's and missiles against decoy-targets is not the main thing. at the time NATO had bomb's plenty, aircraft not so much. the main thing was that NATO air assets where so tied up chasing phantoms the real serb military asset's had a better chance of evading NATO's forces.
your story's where an great read! . great story's of improvisation and asymmetrical warfare.

Issue with war in Yugoslavia, Kosovo, Serbia whatever you like to call it was that US did not have many operatives on the ground, since Serbs would recognise Murican after 30 seconds, even Serbian that lived in the US for some years. So target designation from the ground wasnt often possible. Serb forces were moved very often, masked as much as possible, during night preferably, well dig in, with good knowledge of NATO capabilities and platforms and most important natural talent for trolling.
When its about their sensors etc, when our artillery had chance to provide fire support big issue was the heat so our artillerymen would bring few heavy woolen blankets and soak them in cold water, after few shells they would throw the blanket over the barrel to reduce heat signature as much as possible, amount of examples like this is endless, sadly i do not know them all.
One funny example i do know tho. Big piles of organic fertilizer are being spread on the fields in early spring so people prepare it to be spread on their land, however since war started they didnt dare going much out in the field coz of Albanians mostly (NATO did not bomb the crops thats for sure), however someone in the army got an idea. During night farmer and few soldiers would go to the big pile of fertilizer, put near it couple of metal sheets and cover them with a fertilizer, more the better. Since fairly fresh organic fertilizer produces quite amount of heat inside the pile, it would heat those sheets to remarkable temperatures and naturally sensors would pick that up, so USAF would for any case drop some warload on pile of crap... literally.

Please reconsider. I post quite a lot, including WiB, but your post rate was amazing, most of them more valuable to the site than mine.
You would be sorely missed by some of us here.

See the spat with Garry in Franco's link to the T-50 thread above.VladimirSahin wrote:Dang... why'd he leave? The guy was cool to have around.
Very sad, he and a subsequent comment by another poster attracted Garry's attention with a post on something Garry clearly feels strongly about and Garry has a very clear uncompromising way with words at times like this.

And entire argument that preceded it has been conveniently deleted by mods. No bullshit here

Yes i am afraid i am quitting posting at least on "real topics", i shall still read it sometimes tho. Thank you for support, my inbox was hit by wave of messages, thank you for that, as they were mostly very supportive and positive i did not expect that to be honest.
I dont have much to say except that i do not think i did ever anything to deserve being called out almost like a criminal while people that are ruining the forum are being tolerated even since before i joined this place. And i am not into being threated like lowlife for posting someones else article, which majority of content i do not even agree personally.
I was doing my best to share informations i gather especially on Serbian/Yugoslav army, i tried to contribute overall as much as i could. Hopefully someone continues occasionally to refresh Serbian Army Multimedia topic as its probably one of the best such collections on the Internet today on one place.
Just to prevent some people from quoting what i said without smiley, quotes and link, i assume trying to portrait me as like i was in total support of what was written in that article or even like i wrote it myself.
My posts never broke forum rules, i always respect house in which i reside:

2] No spamming or trolling
3] Do not write in all caps
4] Do not use excessive smilies
5] Do not advertise other forums (that includes linking to them)
6] Do not post others work without citing it (English sources online must be linked)
7] Do not disrespect members, do not attack the messenger, attack the message
8] Do not disrespect RDF staff or the forum itself.
9] You cannot use URL for avatars so upload it from your computer (It will resize)
10] When you are warned by staff you better stop doing it. Repeated abuses will lead to IP ban.
11] Do not post outside sources in other languages without English translation.
12} Introduce youself so we know who we are talking to.
13] Do not misuse the quote feature. This means do not quote more than two people in your quote box and also do not requote an entire article unless it is brief. The proper quoting style can be seen here.
14] Do note quote wiki, debka or strategy page, find a better source
15] No links in the signature are allowed.
16] Stay on topic
Ty again.

ike lowlife for posting someones else article, which majority of content i do not even agree personally.
So you are the victim... all you did was post an article from an anti Russian troll on a Russian website which you didn't even agree with and got criticised for doing so and now you feel you have to leave.
OK then ...leave.
Just to prevent some people from quoting what i said without smiley, quotes and link, i assume trying to portrait me as like i was in total support of what was written in that article or even like i wrote it myself.
Then why did you post it. More to the point why did you defend posting it when criticised for posting it?
2] No spamming or trolling
Posting an anti Russian article on a Russian website is clearly trolling.
If you read my response again you can see I asked you why you posted flame bait on this forum.
Your (over) response was to say everyone else was posting crap so why can't you, and then you threatened to leave.

I'm sorry what? It's far from being flamebait. It was so bad you could only laugh at it. If you consider that flame-bait, than the issue doesn't stand with Militarov, but with the general public of this forum. Which in my opinion just doesn't cut it. It doesn't.
Or then at that point you might want to go all Lenin of the members.

I think militarov shouldn't leave at all, he's a good guy with good info. We all are adults, this is a military forum kind of a community, no need for drama if you ask me. I mean so what if he posted an anti-Russia article, I post anti-Ukrainian government stuff on other forums and even if I do get grilled for it I don't think it should be done here. GarryB is a good admin don't get me wrong, although I think this should all just be forgotten. I enjoy input from both of you on events and military technologies.

Agreed, the point is clear, we're fighting among ourselves. There's no reason for that.
