#Breaking: #IRGC backed #Houthi rebels carried-out an attack against #Najran regional airfield using Qasef K2 Loitering drones. At-least three AH-64D Apache attack helicopters of Royal #SaudiArabia Land Forces are badly damaged or destroyed there!

Small cheap drones are a serious threat for any air defence system... and to be honest if you force the enemy to boost air defence at all their bases you are already making their military action more expensive and less effective.... unless they have a cheap way of dealing with small drone attacks.

As I have mentioned many times making a small manouverable drone armed with a 40mm grenade launcher with a very simple cheap grenade design that just detonates after travelling 30-50m or so that is designed to direct a wall of shrapnel forwards like a super shotgun blast... design the drone so it can be flown like a little fighter and fit it with sophisticated forward looking cameras and laser range finders so it can find aerial targets and can generate an aim point where grenades fired would explode at a distance from the target where the shrapnel will shred the target... there is no expensive timing mechanism in the grenades so they can be cheap and you can buy millions of grenades... perhaps a variable fuse so you can set them to explode at different ranges from 20m out to perhaps 150m or more for use by ground forces against air targets, or to deal with infantry attacks on a base...

I am sure you would be enormous numbers of volunteers to fly these drones to shoot down enemy drones.

Very light high velocity fragments would make them very damaging at short range but harmless over much greater distances so you don't end up trashing your base trying to shoot at drones flying over it...

Nothing exceptional. It's slow moving not protected drone. Easier to destroy than a practice target. Unmaned weapons have no future. Human brain is billions years ahead of computers which can only compute and not think.

Yemeni rebels attack Saudi airport using drones - TV

The air traffic was suspended at the airport

TASS, June 30. The Ansar Allah (Houthi movement) backers have attacked the airport of the city of Jizan in Saudi Arabia using drones, Al Masirah TV channel reported on Saturday.

According to its data, the air traffic was suspended at the airport. The Houthis said that military facilities and hangars located at the airport’s site had been targeted by the strikes. The Saudi Al Arabiya TV channel reports that the Saudi coalition confirmed the attack, saying that its forces managed to intercept and down of the Houthi-launched drones, which targeted the Jizan airport. No attack-related damage has been reported yet.

On June 12, the Houthi forces launched a missile strike on the Saudi airport in the city of Abha. The missile exploded in the arrival zone, 26 people were injured. On June 14, Ansar Allah backers attacked Abha using drones, however, the Saudi anti-missile defense and the Air Forces managed to intercept five drones.

The armed confrontation between government forces and Ansar Allah groups has been ongoing in Yemen since August 2014, reaching the most active phase in March 2015 after the Saudi-led coalition invaded the country.

The Ansar Allah, need to increase effectiveness of warheads. Missiles are expensive to make and few in number. They should consider EMP warheads or Graphite warheads to put out electricity in Saudi. Mass political impact.  Without casualty. Desalination plants will be hit. Creating shortage of water. Bringing political pressure against war. Killing a few troops, will create more hatred. Destroying a few planes, will bring more profit for warmongers. Without being militarily significant. You have to kill a lot of soldiers for that. Destroy a lot of planes. Perhaps all of them. All these palaces of Saudi. They are not empty. They are full of illegitimate children of Saud.

Drone attacks have set alight two major oil facilities run by the state-owned company Aramco in Saudi Arabia, state media say.

Footage showed a huge blaze at Abqaiq, site of Aramco's largest oil processing plant, while a second drone attack started fires in the Khurais oilfield.

The fires are now under control at both facilities, state media said.

A spokesman for the Iran-aligned Houthi group in Yemen said it had deployed 10 drones in the attacks.

The military spokesman, Yahya Sarea, told al-Masirah TV, which is owned by the Houthi movement and is based in Beirut, that further attacks could be expected in the future.

He said Saturday's attack was one of the biggest operations the Houthi forces had undertaken inside Saudi Arabia and was carried out in "co-operation with the honourable people inside the kingdom".

Houtis made a succesfull strike with 10 drones on Saudi largest oil processing plant in the World in Abqaiq, which process around 7 million barells per day and on Khurais olifield. They are far away from Yemen and drones have to fly deep into Saudi air space. Saudi Air defense is one of the best on paper armed with Oerlikon 35 mm Skyguard complexes, Stinger MANPADs, older Crotale and I-HAWK SAMs and modern Patriot PAC-2 and PAC-3 SAMs, THAAD and most modern French VL MICA SAMs. Saudi air space is also protected with F-15S and Eurofighters. Oil facility with such strategic importance is for sure well protected and there are also a lot of US military presence around including US air defense as protection against Iran with their SAMs and ECM complexes. This is a very big blow for western air defense complexes. Syrian air defense with Russian SAMs have no problem to shot down various missiles, bombs and drones launched from terrorists, NATO or Israel.

A Kuwaiti bird hunter recorded the moment three loitering drones passed above the south of #Kuwait and flew toward #Aramco's Oil facility in #Buqayq/#Abqaiq deep inside #SaudiArabia's territory earlier this morning. The attack was launched from #Iraq by #IRGC proxies not #Yemen.


And Saoudisbhave sent an awacs at the iraqi border so the attack, atvleast a part of the drine, came from Iraq.
