But isn't standard practice to fully load Your tank with ammunition? Loading only 22 rounds were only done in 1st Chechen war, yes?

It was done in 2nd Chechen war. Usually you don't shoot your entire carousel of ammunition anyway. If you are in a situation where you actually have to, mostly from up hill shooting like they had in Chechnya 2nd war, they would shoot all rounds, drive the hill down towards their resupply trucks, away from enemy LOS and rearm the autoloader and drive back on the hill and cover enemy positions in villages or towns. The other option would be urban warfare, there it is little bit more problematic, since you have to maneuver and usually have to fire suppression against possible RPG teams when you retreat for more ammunition, so it is a job of ammunition management, but very few situations where you would have to shoot so many rounds.
And the tanks you do not have actual advantages from having more than 22 rounds, it takes almost an entire minute to manually load the gun with the rounds that are scattered around in the turret, which commander has to load himself after the carousel is empty. There are no virtual benefits off the ammunition in the turret.

Re: Questions and Ideas
It has been standard practise up until the 2nd Chechen campaign where loses were dramatically reduced by not loading live rounds in the crew compartment.
Hand loading rounds into the autoloader is rather slow and requires entering what type of round you are placing into each load position so that when a round is selected the autoloader will move to the nearest round of that type.
During lulls in fighting ammo in the crew compartment can be hand loaded into the autoloader... but it is slow and demands the attention of both turret crew members... most of the time it makes rather more sense just to withdraw and rearm properly.
Live ammo in the crew compartment is a stupid and dangerous idea, which is why crew and ammo and fuel are separated on their new designs... armata/kurganets/boomerang/typhoon.

A little while back in the Armata Thread I heard Relikt uses 1/2 of the amount of explosives that K-5 does...yet apparently it actually uses twice the amount... Does anyone have more info?

questions and ideas
Basically what is all about here? Lot of energy converted to radio waves? I know that in a antenna voltage is created at ends. So what is all about? Switching + and - fast? Maibe a liquid wich tend to gain electrons at ends and something at middle? Is about how fast you turn off and on the curent? Maibe with a transistor that turn on and off the antenna. Or is about wave amplitude. In this multiple size antennas could be used. How radio amators module the AM waves?

Does Anybody Want Nuclear War?
While talking with my father a while ago I asked him why his father never had a fallout shelter and if he was worried or if grandpa had been worried about the prospect of nuclear war.
He basically said, "No, the Soviet leaders were all rational people, why would any of them want a nuclear war that would devastate the world and leave their own country in ruins? Nobody who is sane and rational seriously contemplates nuclear war."
He said that neither he nor grandpa ever thought the prospect of a nuclear war was serious, at least not serious enough to warrant shaping their life around it and devoting large amounts of resources to preparing for it.

Re: Questions and Ideas
Does India really need a $5bn semiconductor unit?
By Vinod Dham Jul 21, 2015, 01.11AM IST
There has been for a long time, an on-again and off-again debate about whether India needs a fab. A fab is a plant for manufacturing semiconductor chips, also popularly called silicon chips or simply chips. Silicon chips are ubiquitous today. They are in side all types of gadgets that we use in our daily lives: TVs, computers, cell phones, radios, cars, etc.
So clearly there is a big market for making these chips and, therefore, a case can be made that India should build its own fab to meet India's domestic needs. Chip building business is highly competitive and cyclical. It has been around for over 50 years and there are very well established and well entrenched players. The most recent chip fab, China's state funded SMIC (Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation founded in 2000), has failed to make a dent in the chip making industry despite 15 years of state-sponsored effort.
Building a fab is a very expensive undertaking. While Moore's law (named after Gordon Moore, Intel's co-founder and observer of this trend) has commoditized semiconductor chips resulting in a staggering reduction of roughly a factor of a billion in price over the last 50 years, the cost of manufacturing equipment for these chips has also increased exponentially over this period. To build a fab using current state-of-the-art technology costs about $5bn (Rs 30,000 crore) initially.
In addition, the fab will required to be retooled every two to three years, at an additional enormous cost, to stay competitive. The cost of building and retooling a chip plant has become so prohibitive that in USA only one company, Intel, has the wherewithal to build its own chip plant. In fact, the astronomical cost of building a fab has forced chip companies to pool together their financial resources to set up plants like "Global Foundries" for manufacturing their chips.
Even if we were to build a fab in India despite such prohibitive reoccurring financial undertaking, one of the biggest challenges will be what chips to make in them and how to keep the fab fully loaded. Let us say we decide to build chips for cell phones. The top three popular selling cell phone brands in India are Samsung, Micromax and Nokia. Since a new Indian fab will offer no competitive advantage in terms of price or performance, it will be hard to convince Samsung, Micromax or Nokia to build their chips in this fab.
This same logic prevails for building chips for the TV, personal computers, automotive and other such markets. And even if all three cell phone suppliers were to agree to build their chips in India, the volume of these chips may not be enough to keep the fab fully utilized. Running a partially filled fab is like flying a partially filled Dreamliner — a losing value proposition.
One way to, however, get around the issue of how to keep the fab fully utilized is to invite someone like Samsung or Intel set up a plant in India to meet their own global market needs, including those for their sales in India. Clearly, the Indian government will still need to guarantee uninterrupted electric supply and millions of gallons of water to run these plants besides importing very expensive highly skilled semiconductor specialists to manage the fab's highly automated and expensive equipment.
Thus, given enough subsidies and incentives, if a foreign MNC could still justify building their chips in India, it will be a good way for India to get into the business of building chips. Over a very long period of time, such a move could end up creating a critical mass of an ecosystem required to sustain such a business in the long run.
Recently, the Indian government has expressed concerns about security risks posed by the use of some foreign-made chips. India is reportedly considering a proposal to make it mandatory for the core strategic sectors of defence, space, atomic energy and cyber security to use 'made in India' chips to protect its national security needs while kick-starting the domestic semiconductor manufacturing business. Unfortunately, these sectors alone can't generate enough volume to justify a state-of-the-art fab, besides the concerns I have discussed earlier.
However, once the government has defined and designed such special chips, it may be better to build them in an older generation fab. The older fab could cost one fifth to one tenth of the state-of-the-art fab and be optimal for producing lower volume, larger variety, mixed signal chips with higher reliability resulting from use of more mature technology.
Cyber-security has become a major concern for countries and companies worldwide. Cyber-security is very essential for national security. The entire cyber-warfare infrastructure in the USA is reportedly based on information technology consisting of standard networks of low cost computing devices. The secret to addressing this concern in a practical manner for India is to strategically use software (India's strength) and firmware as its secret sauce. Moreover, India should implement a "Trusted Manufacturer's Program" for its core strategic needs. This program should be designed to certify chips, software and systems produced by foreign manufacturers and avoid buying from adversary countries.

That was how MAD kept the peace... you can't rely on their promises, or their good will towards you, but you can rely on their instinct for survival.
Of course when the west demonises its perceived enemies... and indeed its perceived rivals... it often calls them irrational and aggressive and indeed suicidal... makes things much more dangerous...

because i see a lot of different opinions on what means noconformism and new and exciting and what is idiotic. can we draw a line between these? how we can define them?
also what is trolling? you saw some people saying like " x is idiot y is stupid z is retard"? but if he has right can be a person being called retard?
same thing to the racism thing. geneticly speaking i dont think a race can be called inferior but the truth is that everyone has own level of intelligence. so here is a challenge if racists are right and some people are simply stupid you are not allowed to say so , in mean time everyone has a brain even animals and we cannot say that someone not try to put his brain to work , so is no inferiority. some came with the argue that since are some smart and some stupid the first one's should rule over latest's. my opinion is that everyone at least try to think and that they can improve their skills but for that is necessary to be free else he doesnt do own things so no evolve , also there is no superiority in sentiments because all we have one thus all want better for us so all deserve freedom.

would this compression technique work?
i mean in computer tehnology. what if lets say for the word "house" for example will be transmitted a single number like 1. this between two computers. with the receiver having a dictionary of words and associated numbers to them. so entire long words could be transmitted in a short variant reduce then the size of file thus the time of receive the message ofcourse i found few problems like when you have short words associated with long numbers but you can start the association with the longest words at the smallest numbers also you could associate simbols to word

Re: Questions and Ideas
For general purposes there would probably be only a marginal gain, there are not enough numbers for all the small words and data carrying capacity is not really a limit in modern networks.
For 'special' purposes this technique has been in use almost since the invention of writing and books.

Re: Questions and Ideas
well as i said simbols can be used. this would save for need of new fiber optic lines cause all would become faster thus no need of fiber optic need. imagine also that for a number can be associate couple of word thus lot of speed. imagine what would mean in data transmission this because this would be something that cant be decrypted. imagine a 3 gb of something transmit as a 100 mb or so and that would mean also a easy job for a processor wich is very needed in army.
