Snowplow driver detained. I thought they mentioned he was one of the dead? Anyway, neglegence is factor and persecution of people will happen, this is including airport management.

Could have been weather, right? I thought reports were saying that visibility wasn't great then, but I can't (don't want to) confirm that...

Anyway, if the "object" was at a far distance, the pilot may of started to accelerate, than when he saw the object - he probably pitched up aggressively, causing the tail to strike the plow. Once the aircraft is moving at a "good" speed, they really cannot slow it down. - Brakes help, but they require a ton of space to low all inertia.

Boo hoo, rich money sack died, boo hoo. RIP to him and the crew.
Only thing that pisses me off is snowplower.... When there was almost no snow as seen in pictures. And the driver being drunk is just classy. Not that I can't put finger on him as I sometimes drive tipsy in early mornings when taxis are nightmare to get. But at least not on the fucking airfield Very Happy Drinking culture is fucked up thing, but I think it's russian scourge (yeah statistically Russians are not no1, but no where else i've seen people being so drunk in public)

It's strange that SBU didn't post intercepted phone call by Strelkov speaking with Putin and BUK being the culprit.

Conflicting reports in the media about the "Kovalia" A320, that it crashed, that it didn't crash, that it made contact with Turkish ATC. If it did not crash it would by now be over Russian airspace and if okay we would all know. However, Rossiya 24 have said on the 1130 news that shortly after take off and after reaching 9000 meters the aircraft had contacted Egyptian ATC to request emergency landing at Cairo, and it shortly after dissapeared from radar. At the moment that is all that is known for certain, though it has clearly crashed in Sinai. Would probably have been many kids on that plane...... http://www.vesti.ru/doc.html?id=2681621&cid=8

Egyptian Prime Minister just confirmed it crashed and emergency services are gathering at the city of Al-Hasan in central northern Sinai http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/162254.aspx

    Hopefully it was not terrorism.

Possibly there are survivors as rescuers report hearing voices in part of the aircraft. At the moment only the Egyptians have sources at the scene and all other reports are based on what they are saying. http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/1/64/162275/Egypt/Politics-/Egyptian-search-and-rescue-team-members-have-heard.aspx

Ria Novosti says that in the previous week the crew of the plane had been complaining about some problems about the engine of the plane. These problems had been occurring during the take-off.

Ria Novosti also says the Egyptian authorities did not inspect the plane before the take-off but the inspection had been carried out by the engineers of the Kolavia airline company itself.

Egyptian authorities have also ruled out the possibility that the plane had been shot down.

If the accident was caused by a negligence and poor maintenance of the aircraft hopefully some heads will roll. If this is the case then the ownership and management of Kolavia should be in a big trouble.

There's way too much of this kind of thing, still. Russia needs to bring back firing squads, because whatever else they may or may not have tried in order to clean up this filthy industry hasn't worked. Let's face it; civil aviation is an eternal national embarrassment for Russia.

I agree. The Soviet culture was that one would slack off and steal to one's heart desire. This does not fit with the NATO propaganda narrative of
totalitarian tyranny. This culture requires brutality of a certain level to combat. Russia needs draconian laws on corporate responsibility. So the
executives of these companies would fear hard jail time in a penal colony because of such negligence by their underlings. Everyone from the maintenance
mechanics, to their supervisors and on up should be arrested and tried for criminal negligence causing mass death. They should all be doing multiple
15 year sentences one for each victim in succession.

Unfortunately Russia does not give out consecutive sentences.

Hold On! Why is everyone jumping to the conclusion that this was an accident ????

Egyptian F 16 are not allowing Russian rescue planes to land in Egypt.

RT is not been given access to the crash site.

And you guys still believe this was just another accident?

Interesting and quite full analysis in the editorial part in this link to ZH. Nut no mention of maintenance issues. The comments have it down to a false flag operation, as you might perhaps expect from ZH.

Should Russia consider banning all civilian flights in the Middle East and Northern Africa for the time being?

I reached conclusions that ISIS' claimed responsibility is a bluff - MANPADs can't hti targets aboce circa 6km celling and civilian aircraftfly at 10-12km. In orderyo shot down an airliner they would need a BUK-type SAm and if they did have it, the launch would have been picked up by Egyptian and Israeli radars.

    RIP

But the first news said, that pilot made a contact with air traffic control and that they want to land in the nearest airport, what could indicate, that the plane have technical problems.

Firing squads? Why not spanish inquisition?? Strict preflight check regulations. Private shitty company like Metrojet had fatal accidents before. Ofc look for conspiracy when Russian aviation has higher crash rathe than fucking Africa.
Imho Russian gov needs again to take all into their hands and sort this thing once and for all. I remember when Aeroflot was pretty much only 1 company u could fly.

This mentality of untouchability and unacountability has to go. I hope whole lot of responsible people will rot in jail. It won't bring the dead but it will set an example. Russia is very soft when it comes to justice, nothing like it was 30 years ago. Esp ehen You have the money, conections. It won't surprise me if Metrojet guys already in hiding and they already have scapegoats. I'm fucking furious. Draconian laws will only work if judicial system is squeeky clean. Not the case here.

I agree. Aeroflot seems to have a good record but not this other company. Seems lack of proper maintenance is the main current cause (thought) and airliners need to get their crap together.

I think you will be right in that the management have already decided which scapegoat it is and what country they will go in hiding to.
