Syrian Army Missile Attack Kills Dozens of Militants in Daraa Province

BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:00 A.M.) – Fighting intensified between Syrian Arab Army forces and rebels in the city of Daraa, Monday.

Smoke could be seen billowing over the skyline as missiles and mortar guns pound targets in Daraa Camp the city’s former Palestinian refugee camp, a built-up residential area.

Early on Sunday, SAA troops reportedly recaptured several neighbourhoods including the School Complex area in the Daraa Camp suburb.

Clashes continue across the city, today, as the Syrian Arab Army attempts to advance against the Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham forces.

You have to smile at this admission

President Trump has no Congressional authorization to order strikes against Damascus or Iran's proxies in Syria, according to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — President Donald Trump has no Congressional authorization to order the US military to target groups backed by Iran in Syria, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in a hearing on Tuesday.

"I would agree with that," Tillerson said when asked if there was no legal authorization from Congress to target Syrian President Bashar Assad or Iranian proxies.

The US-led coalition has been fighting Daesh in Syria since 2014 without UN approval or Assad's request.

    Here comes the Syrian 'PMU'.

    Hassan Ridha‏ @sayed_ridha 2h2 hours ago

    Hassan Ridha Retweeted Hassan Ridha

Syrian Gov in Hasakah assigns 'Ali Hawas Khalif' of the Tay tribe of forming a Syrian PMU, recruitment base is mainly Arab tribes

Iranian affiliated commanders who are part of the PMU in Iraq are also assisting in formation of the Syrian PMU

A unified Arab tribal force will be crucial for the Syr Gov to control Jazeera/Euphrates region amid reaching Iraqi border & desert advance

Service will not be compulsory and is voluntary, Syrian PMU will be used to rival SDF recruitment of Arabs in the Jazeera

Syrian Army attempts to clear ISIL pocket along important highway: map

    Syrian War: News #13 - Page 25 Khanasser-map

BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:05 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has been relatively busy in the Al-Raqqa countryside this week, attacking several villages under the control of the Islamic State (ISIL) forces.

Within 48 hours of launching their assault, the Syrian Arab Army’s Tiger Forces liberated the 15+ villages in Al-Raqqa, while also capturing the strategic Rusafa Oil Fields near an important junction along the Salamiyah-Raqqa Highway.

However, despite this massive advance in the Al-Raqqa Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army is not ready to push east.

The reason the Syrian Arab Army is not pushing east has to do with the current situation near the Khanasser Highway; this road is the government’s only supply route to the Aleppo Governorate.

Before they can push deeper into the Al-Raqqa Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army will have clear the Islamic State’s last pocket between the Raqqa, Hama, and Aleppo governorates.

Once this pocket is cleared, the Syrian Arab Army will have more than one supply route to the Aleppo Governorate and they will have secured the Khanasser Highay.

Russia and syAf can continuously drop supplies and even men into deir ezzor in the current time till forces can make it there. I know there was training continuously for Syrian paratroopers a year ago. Don't know results.

I would say first right to clear cauldron and secure more transport lines for Aleppo as well as to prevent their back and then turn left to reach Euphrates river and push down the river to Deir Ezzor and this will also mean cutting ISIL from food and water. On the other side, SAA should capture T3 station and continue down the road to Iraqi border and than at the border to Euphrates river and at river up to Deir Ezzor. Than the remain of ISIL will be capture in the middle of desert without supplies. You could bet, they will not last long in the desert.

Looks like diversionary action by ISIS by trying to cut the road to Aleppo at the narrowestly defended point about 50Km east of Salamiyah

    SPOILER (Map):

The shading of the Daesh zone is ludicrous. Most of the territory they "control" is empty desert. With this particular pocket
it was game over when the eastern wedge was grabbed. The mostly empty "Daesh zone" in between the SAA controlled zones was not
    going to offer any resistance.

Deash is putting up and will put up a fight to prevent the SAA from reach Deir Ezzor.

From CNN last night. Not sure why the US needs long range rocket artillery in the Tanf area.

CNN)The US military has moved its High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) from Jordan into southern Syria for the first time, positioning it near the US-Coalition training base at At Tanf, three US defense officials confirmed to CNN Tuesday. HIMARS, a truck-mounted system which can fire missiles as far as 300 kilometers, represents a major boost to US combat power near At Tanf, a location that has come under the spotlight following a series of recent coalition strikes against pro-regime forces operating in the area.

While this is the first HIMARS deployment to southern Syria, a US official told CNN that this was not the first time HIMARS has been used in the country, with the system being deployed to the north to help the Syrian Democratic Forces in their offensives against ISIS. US Marines have also used M777 howitzers in support of SDF units fighting ISIS in northern Syria. HIMARS had been previously used to strike ISIS targets from firing positions in Turkey and Jordan. The system has also been deployed in Iraq to hit ISIS positions there.

The area around At Tanf has become a flashpoint in recent weeks between pro-regime forces and coalition troops advising local forces battling ISIS. Last week, a US F-15E jet shot down an Iranian-made pro-regime Shahed 129 drone that had dropped a "dud" munition near coalition forces patrolling near At Tanf, according to US officials. There were two additional US airstrikes against militia positions and vehicles inside the de-confliction zone around the base, plus another airstrike in May. Following the first strike against pro-regime forces in May, a spokesman for the military coalition fighting ISIS said that the military was reinforcing its position there. "We have increased our combat power in that area," US Col. Ryan Dillon told reporters at the Pentagon earlier this month. "We have increased our presence and our footprint and prepared for any threat that is presented by the pro-regime forces," Dillon added.

One defense official said that the HIMARS move was a response to actions by pro-regime forces, who have been deploying their own artillery near the perimeter of the 55-kilometer "de-confliction zone" surrounding At Tanf. While the pro-regime artillery could not reach the base, it could reach a smaller combat outpost used by coalition advisers and their local allies. A second official, however, said it was not clear whether the HIMARS deployment was in direct response to threatening action by the pro-regime forces.

CNN has previously reported that pro-regime forces had established a number of outposts and checkpoints in the area near the de-confliction zone. US officials have told CNN they believe pro-regime militias backed by Iran are setting up a series of checkpoints as part of an effort to establish a strategic overland route from Iran to the Mediterranean coast. Privately, US military officials say they are hopeful matters will remain calm and no more US military action will be required. And publicly, senior officials have insisted that the clashes with pro-regime fighters are purely in self-defense and that the US and the coalition will remain focused on battling ISIS. "Those are self-defense strikes and the commander on the ground has the authority to take whatever action necessary and I support that," Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis told the Senate Armed Services Committee Tuesday.

That 300 kms range can only be reached with an ATACMS missile, and I'm sure that they would not waste them on attacking SAA troops if that's the case. They would target them at high value targets, probably that SAA encampment north of Al-Tanf

Americans shelling the SAA will be a red line crossing event for sure. Russia will most likely supply Syria with weapons that
would allow it to retaliate. Americans can't play any humanitarian law or cross-border victim BS card. They are clearly the
    aggressor occupants.

Sending BM-30 Smerch to the SAA on the border with Iraq would really help, it would keep the US more honest and not attack the SAA.

According to this video the "Habbari field and areas, were already liberated, according to Pro-Government sources."
