Since the mass of western media consumers think that demonstrations prove something, that is a sort of
more refined test of mental development than the map question.
It was the same in the 1990s. Yabloko (the liberal party of the day and Yavlinsky its leader) never got more than 10% in any election but they were treated as the majority by the western media. Every story had to have their input. Nobody cared about the opinion of the Communists who might have been 30-40% of the Duma.
