MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. Russia’s Radio-Electronic Technologies Group (KRET) is developing a fundamentally new electronic warfare system capable of suppressing cruise missile and other high-precision weaponry guidance systems and satellite radio-electronic equipment, KRET Deputy CEO Yuri Mayevsky told TASS on Thursday.

"The system will target the enemy’s deck-based, tactical, long-range and strategic aircraft, electronic means and suppress foreign military satellites’ radio-electronic equipment," Mayevsky said.

The system will be mounted on ground-based, air-and seaborne carriers, he added.

"It will not be based on satellites as this is prohibited by international rules and we comply with this rule," he said.

Adviser to the KRET first deputy CEO Vladimir Mikheyev told TASS the integrated multifunctional electronic warfare system designed to target enemy aerospace vehicles would operate within the air defense and missile shield control contour.

"It will fully suppress communications, navigation and target location and the use of high-precision weapons," Mikheyev said.

"The system will be used against cruise missiles and will suppress satellite-based radio location systems. It will actually switch off enemy weapons."

The system’s ground component will be tested soon, hec said. "Ground tests are now going on in workshops. At the end of the year, the system’s component will leave the factory gates for trials at testing ranges," he said.

Is it for real ? I mean how can they do it and if they are doing it then why speaking about it in public ? I think its more of a PR stint . What exactly and how it will achieve it ?

Sensors, radar, a massive generator producing energy in the KW's, signals in the Ghz, and locating the satellite, which apparently isnt hard.

Why speak about it ? To confuse american DOD or just to make them aware about Russia's next move . I'm sort of skeptical about it . If its so easy then I expect usa , france can also do it isnt it ?

Sputnik loves exaggerating stuff . RT is better :-

This new jammer would render enemy precision weapons useless by suppressing guidance systems, including those relying on satellite signals.

“The system is meant to jam enemy aviation, carrier-launched, tactical and strategic, and jam the signals of foreign military satellites near Russian zone of influence ”

The new jammer currently in development would have ground-based, aircraft and naval variants . ground-based version is to enter field trials later this year.

Russia Jamming Technology Poses Challenge for Allied Forces, U.S. Officials Say – WSJ

RUKLA, Lithuania—Sophisticated Russian electronic-warfare systems and jamming technology are posing an acute challenge for allied forces training in Eastern Europe, U.S. Army officials said Tuesday.

While the U.S. has sold sophisticated radios to many allied nations, including Baltic countries, U.S. export regulations prohibit the military from sharing the most secure encryption that would prevent Russians from intercepting and decoding transmissions.

U.S. officials said Russia has invested heavily in technology designed to both intercept communications and jam radio transmissions, and it has developed new equipment to identify the source of allied transmissions. Intelligence officials also say Russia has become better at masking its own communications to keep its planned military movements secret.

While Russia has acknowledged their military investments, a spokeswoman for the Russian mission to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization didn’t respond to a request for comment on Tuesday.

Platoons of Lithuanian and American soldiers conducted a mock assault in a training area of eastern Lithuania on Tuesday, but the officers overseeing the drill said maintaining secure communications remains a prime difficulty

“It can be a challenge to communicate securely on a tactical level,” Brig. Gen. Michael Tarsa, the deputy commander of the U.S. 4th Infantry Division, said.

Without secure communications, allied militaries must refrain from giving away their positions or relating the position of their headquarters units, U.S. military officials said, making coordinating operations more difficult.

The U.S. has sold to many nations, including the Baltic countries and Ukraine, sophisticated Harris Corp. radios that are capable of highly secure communications. Still the export version of the radios don’t have the same level of encryption as U.S. radios.

Some in the U.S. want to allow allied nations to use the same encryption technology used by U.S. forces. Other policy makers think that sharing the technology could allow it to be compromised by Russian agents.

NATO’s Transformation Command is working on a new radio technology that could be jointly adopted by the alliance and allow for more seamless communication, but the system isn’t yet ready to be deployed.

To overcome the problem, U.S. and Lithuanian forces conducting exercises near the Russian border have resorted to swapping noncommissioned officers, putting radio operations in each other’s units, said Capt. Helaman Fepuleaui, a company commander with the 173rd Brigade. Since U.S. personnel can use encrypted radios, sending the so-called liaisons to the Lithuanian units allows secure communication.

Using liaisons to embed inside allied units is tried and true method that goes back to previous wars, military officers said. But it can reduce the combat power of both units and require more radio operators.

Still, Capt. Fepuleau said that, despite the challenges over the past weeks of training, the Lithuanians and Americans have taken on increasingly complex operations. Over the weekend, a combined team of American and Lithuanian soldiers jumped out of helicopters into a lake, in an operation they called a “helo cast.”

And on Tuesday the U.S. and Lithuania platoons plotted a mock assault on a structure coordinating their approaches—despite the communication problems—and obscuring their assault with smoke grenades.

At a news conference following the joint exercise, Gen. Odierno said coordinating the work of small units is one of the most difficult parts of joint operations. He said showing that the U.S. and Eastern European allies could work together at the tactical level would help deter aggression by Russia.

“It shows we are capable of working together and that sends a strong signal to anybody,” he said.

Gen. Odierno said it is “our responsibility to protect our NATO allies” adding that he wanted to see more large-scale, multinational exercises aimed at boosting defenses in Eastern Europe.

The U.S. is not the one having problems with Russian techniques, it's the allies that do not have the same technology as the U.S.. Russia is unable to jam American communications and signals. lol! Then how come Russia intercepted and jammed US drone flying over Crimea?

New-Generation Electronic Warfare: More Russian Troops Equipped

Electronic warfare units around Russia are mastering their skills on the brand-new “Borisoglebsk 2” complex, with more deliveries of the system expected by the end of the month.

A mechanized infantry unit of the Russian Land Forces, stationed near Orenburg in the Urals, is due to receive the most advanced electronic warfare complexes, the “Borisoglebsk 2”, by the end of July. One hundred specialists needed to operate the complexes are currently attending courses at an army training center in Tambov.

In Chechnya in the Southern Military District a competition among electronic warfare specialists was held recently. Soldiers competed in the areas of deployment speed, search and detection of unidentified radio signals and electromagnetic blanketing. The involved units were equipped with six new “Borisoglebsk 2” complexes just last month.

In May developers of the “Borisoglebsk 2” were granted a government award for their product. The system was initially introduced to the Russian army in 2014.

One complex comprises nine MT-LB vehicles, on which the equipment is mounted. Its purpose is suppression of mobile satellite communication and radio navigation systems.

Compared to previous generation complexes, the “Borisoglebsk 2” has a wider range of radio surveillance and suppression, hi-speed frequency scanning, a longer operative range and a higher precision of spatial localization of radio wave emission sources.

yea but they will bring bigger generator or better add a transformer to the old sistem to achieve signals in higher Ghz. then you will bring next bigger transformer and so on.

Excellent news, Richag-AV ECM suite designed for helicopters, and developed by KRET, is a very capable system...

1.) ECM is effective against ground targets from 50-200 km away!

2.) Can jam up to 8 targets simultaneously!

3.) ECM is effective against air targets up to 300 km away!

...So with this system you can defeat grounds targets with a ECM sphere that is 400 km in diameter, and for air targets that is 600 km in diameter!

I think that is similiar system to the "Microwave" which has to much power and occupants of the helicopter can not be with the equipment in the same compartment, that is why the jamming equipment is seperated and crew/cockpit is in a faraday cage to protect them against the microwaving.

    MAKS-2015. EW equipment

One of the active participants in MAKS-2015 was the concern of radio-electronic Technology (KRET). KRET have been a pavilion with electronic equipment, avionics, etc.

    1. Intelligence Unit 1L265E from the complex EW "Moscow-1". 1L267 complex "Moscow-1" is designed for electronic intelligence airspace at a distance of 400 km. "Moscow-1" consists of module 1L265E intelligence and control center and airborne radar jammers 1L266E. All systems are mounted on three cars KAMAZ. The station is able to provide a complete all-round visibility. "Moscow-1" can be deployed in 45 minutes.
The complex of electronic warfare can operate in temperatures ranging from 40 to 50 degrees Celsius. Crew of "Moscow-1" consists of four people. Exploration parameters purposes is conducted in a passive mode, which provides a high stealth work station. After the detection of air targets their parameters are transferred to other systems of electronic warfare, air defense and aviation. On the management of the "Moscow-1" at the same time may be nine EW and air defense systems. It also includes an automated command post to coordinate the management of external jamming devices, as well as for the transmission of information to the target air defense and air force.

    Not viktor... but..

    ABout your question..

RUssia maybe have developed also electronics that are resistant to this counter electronics.
or maybe they just can focus their energy on a single small mobile target.. like Dish antennas do.. that they need to point directly to a direction to receive a signal.  But flying over moscow that will never happen.. Any F-35 will be stop in cold even before it enter Russia airspace.
They are not invisible planes in any way.. they still can be detected with any old radar.. what stealth does is reduce the distance they are detected.. nothing more or less.  But with modern radars of low band ,and Infra red optics. it is possible to detect planes stealth planes from far distances.. doppler radars for example can detect birds or clouds in air. So you cannot completely hide from radars..

About Russia counter electronics hardware this looks like serious stuff...
IF it is half as good as they claim ,it will be a real game changer.. only comparable
to the invention of the Radar in world war 2 ,that allowed allies to easily detect German
Uboats beyond visual distance ,so no longer they could hide.. and as game changer as the use of planes in combat.  Because if Russia ECW works half as good as they claim?

Then it will be impossible for NATO to use any precision weapon against Russia Shocked
but is even more.. Because apparently they is not only jamming ..but also can damage
the equipment and shut it down.

Because this sounds too good to be true..  lol1
Lets downscale this a little and say that it works as advertised but only against electronic hardware developed in the 70s ,80s and interrupt the communications to any military hardware developed in the 90s. but that no longer works in any way with more modern technology from late 90s to 2015.

If Russian ECW do half as good as they claim.. it will means that pretty much NATO will have non weapons to fight Russia ,because any missile or rocket..with sensors and radio guidance or TV on its warhead will not work.. Shocked

So Javelins missiles will not work.. will be shutdown ,burned its electronics or at least cut its radio control guidance.. same with Israeli SPike missiles. Same with any American anti tank weapon that have radio guidance. same with any GPS cruise missile or even ballistic missile.
You read about about Baltic States and other NATO not using the latest communication encryption from US.. but it will not matter..since Russia dont need to intercept ,all they will do is
create a real strong interference that will block radio communications through air.

All this means ,is that if RUssia counter electronics are half as good as they say.. NATO will have
to fight the old ways of world war 1.. war of trenches ,using just classical non guided bomb artillery.. and people on foot.. because tanks will neither work..  Laughing

NATO Cruise missiles will fail..once enter in the zone of electronic attack. will either miss its guidance and land miles away of its target or even turn off its engine and just fall from sky.
Tomahakws and harpoons useless. to. Manpads missiles trying to hit a plane or helicopter armed with such electronic warfare will turn off before do impact and not explode.
and if such radioelectronic weapons deployed inside many satellites in space it could turn off Trident missiles too or any ICBM will shutdown its power unit and engines.  Shocked

This is what i call real wishful thinking .. or if true.. the most revolutionary weapon ever invented in modern times ,since the plane or Radar was invented. Oh an nuclear weapons missiles also depends on electronics on its warhead or engine to detonate..

IF Russia can shutdown satellites too with radio electronic attacks ,as they claim now working..that will truly leave blind NATO forces.. and with no way to fight... other than visual distance trench war ,using world war 2 weapons.. at least for them..

But for sure can be countered.. with modern weapons.. other wise Russia will not be able
to use the technology because could damage their own electronics. but even in this way.. is serious stuff.  US navy and US airforce but also US Army.. is largely made its inventory of
weapons from the 80s to the 90s.. they have not pushed a lot to modernize their missiles.
Only Europeans have done that. Interesting stuff...

Imagine for example ,if the counter electronic equipment Russia promoting only worked well against hardware designed in the 70s and 80s.. this still will be huge.. For example it could allow Russia to have a field day , with planes and tanks in Syria  ,watching Rebels manpads failing one after another.. and rebel anti tank missiles failing too. they will simply not explode and not even reach the target.. the engine will shut down of any portable missiles. This are the major weapons  of extremist groups.. Only light arms will work..grenades too..and classic old artillery too.  But anything with modern electronics or sensors or radio guidance or lazer guidance missile or communication equipment will not work.  Control Remote activated Road side bombs neither will work.. neither tanks will move..basically a real revolution of warfare..that completely change the way modern wars are fought.

for people skeptic about electromagnetic weapons or counter electronics ..

THis is a homemade EMP gun..
Notice how no physical contact is need to disable electronic equipment.

US army also have counter electronics too , this is not new..but it looks like Russia
have taken it to a whole new level.. way beyond what US armed forces have done.
IMHO it will be a real mistake for Russia to sell this very advanced weapons to anyone in the west.. and even to their allies.. it should be very easy for US to bribe any nation with lots of money to reverse engineer the technology... at best only CHINA and India..but no others.,,
because the risk is very high of the technology falling in wrong hands.

and to make things more harder to believe..ridiculous over the top.. they also claim ,
their electronic warfare can be integrated in planes and shut down the air defenses of the enemies.. This is mind blowing.. imagine that? Shocked

they use as example the shutdown of US aegis system in the donald cook.. lol1
Man this looks insanely too good to be true.. but will be really amazing if true.
Just imagine this? If Russia counter electronics can disable Aegis ,that is US best defense
system.. then pretty much Russia should have no problems to invade United States with
its Airforce and be immune to any system of defense or missile.. ALbeit Regular cannon fire
and anti air artillery should work..

    Electromagnetic weapon of Russia

Looks like Alien technology to me.. don't know what to think really.. my guess is BS..
or simply a major exageration. Smile

There was an interesting concept surfaced in 1970's RAND Study. called as "Stellar radar" It's basically a Bi-static radar but using stars and sun as its non-cooperative emitters.

Nonetheless the theoritical groundwork of it (The paper also include mathematical equation for predicting performance) Showed that it might not be promising. Nonetheless it is one hell of interesting concept.

I was thinking something like Russia using ground based EW systems to target hostile F-22, F 35 etc over Russian airspace if they are involved in a dogfight with Russian Su 30 or Su 35s.

But then I suspect that ground based EW systems will also affect the Su 30s and Su 35s adversely.

Share of top-notch radioelectronic warfare tools may reach 90% in Russian Army by 2020

The share of top-notch radioelectronic warfare tools in the Russian Armed Forces may reach 90% by 2020, Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov said on Thursday as he took the floor at the 14th conference titled 'Russian Radioelectronics: New Challenges and Prospects'.

"In line with the priority tasks that were put forward by the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces (these duties are vested in the Russian President under the Constitution TASS), the percentage of up-to-date technologies should be no less than 70%, and in we take the tools or radioelectronic warfare, it should be definitely above 70% or, to be more precise, closer to 80% to 90%," he said.

"We're increasing the purchases of radioelectronic warfare instruments from one year to another," Borisov said. "The current volume (of purchases) meets the requirements of the Armed Forces."

"A number of R&D projects have been completed successfully in the framework of the state program for armaments," he said. "We have at our disposal the instruments for ground-based electronic warfare, and the equipment for air-based warfare exist, too.""Also, we have the instruments installable on ships," Borisov said. "They match world standards."
