You don't even have to look at the Talmud, or the Kabalah, or the Qur'an or anything like this.
Take a closer look at the Old Testament instead, examine it closely. It's common for Jews, Christians and Muslims alike - and yet it's worse than any of the texts you mentioned above.
God testing his prophet by telling them to commit infanticide against his own son, razing a whole city of people to the ground as well as some people who got in the way because it was full of mainly alcholoics, gamblers, homosexuals and womanizers (none of it even a crime these days), flooding the
entire Earth and committing
genocide against the human race and all other life

But that's somewhat the point I guess. Religion was beneficial because it gave laws to society and defined acceptable behaviors, morals in wider society. Each of the brutalities, fatalities, finish him's! in the Old Testament has a lesson to teach. And the stuff in there is not really meant to be taken literally. It's mostly just full of harsh lessons for what happens to you if you don't behave the right way - but as a deterrent, rather than being the actual point of it.
I think the difference ultimately between people who understand religion, and those who don't - is how they interpret those lessons and derive their behavior from them (if they do at all).
Throughout history, you had plenty of people who used religion to justify brutality. You still do, albeit less and less, as religion in general loses its importance.
But the amount of people who
truly understood what their religion was trying to tell them, and interpreted it as a philosophy of how to live your life in such a way that you bring
good to yourself and those around you, rather than negative stuff - has pretty much remained stable over the millenia.
It's always been a fairly small selection of people, who genuinely do adopt the lessons of their religion into their life, act peacefully and so on. But they were found then, and they can be found now.
