That's a great summary, thank you Viktor! Anything similar for upgraded aircraft as well? There's always a lack of information in that respect.

I found some older news saying that 9 Ka-226 were due by the end of the year, i don't see them on the list above, have they been delivered?

Anyway, regarding upgrades due this year (not clear how many delivered to date) this is the best i can figure out so far:

Planned upgrades that i can identify
    -10 MiG-31BM
    - 4 Su-33
    - 2 Su-27SM3 (postponed to first part of 2014?)
    - 2 Tu-95MSM
    - at least 1 Il-38N.

Things are still not clear regarding how many Su-25SM (and potentially new built UBM), Su-24M-SVP24, maybe Tu-22M3M, A-50U AEW not to special special aviation platforms (like Mi-8MTPR-1 and Il-20M/22M etc.), transports/tankers and navy helos/aircraft (Ka-27M? new Be-200?) were due to be delivered in 2013, there must be a sizable quantity of them as well.

12 Su-25SM upgraded this year, was the plan. Not sure if it SM3 though as none of the new (and badly needed) defensive features have been seen on "SM3s" so far. Waiting for a new contract as the current one (36 birds) is finishing this year.

No new Su-25UBM aside from that one flying around Ulan-Ude since like 2008.

Thanks TR1. It is a mystery what's going on with the Su-25UBM, either the rumoured 12-16 were never ordered, or the factory experiences difficulties/ delays.

S novim godom to all. Very Happy

In the news today, Far East MD received a batch of (overhauled? upgraded?maybe the illusive SM3s?) Su-27. I don't know what to make of the text, does it say the 4 aircraft came from Baranovichi, which in my mind could that the phased out belorussian Su-27s were taken by Russia, and are overhauled/ upgraded? Thanks.

PS: What VVS units are in the Serishevski region?

These aircrafts must stationed in belarus as a result of previous announcement made by Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoygu. And now relocated to russian far east.

Good old Mi-35M. Not nearly as fancy as the other attack birds, but unlike them its actually fully operational.

There is no sexier and at same time scarier Attack Helicopter out there.

The only cosmetic flaw is the shortened stubbed wings, the older look much better and fearsome.

It is a cosmetic flaw only as you probably already well know they are smaller and lighter yet carry more missiles and reduce lift less in the hover.

The only likely disadvantage is they generate less lift in forward flight and therefore don't reduce the load on the main rotor.

Personally I like the weapon arrangement and think a variant of the Mi-28M should be considered with a twin barrel 23mm cannon and perhaps 1,000-2,000 rounds of ammo mounted in a chin turret.

That is exactly why i said cosmetic flaw.

For comperision, the A-10 version the Mi-24B with the 4 men crew cockpit that had much more air drag and without the stubbed wings which provided 28-33% lift in forward flight still holds the record for the fastest helicopter in its personal weight class over a closed range with 362 km/h.

The newer Mi-24VM2 (Mi-35M) has much more power, lower airdrag and still a certain degree of lift through stubbed wings it can fly 370km/h but was never tested to its full potentional.

I think Cyprus is interested, that Russian MChS will have Be-200 and Ka-32 there for firefighting and rescuing on the sea.

is there any intention for more MiG-29SMTs order?
