    Nona-2 (essentially an early Vena)

    So it is a 120mm gun/mortar on a 2S1 chassis... isn't that just a prototype 2S34 Hosta?

Pretty much. However, I think this was a Vena prototype/testbed, while Khosta is a conversion of the regimental 2S1 howitzers to battalion-level 120 mm combination guns.

Haha "US Analytics" placed germany on place 8? I kind of doubt Germany would be in top 20, i've seen the shape of it first hand and we were on JMTC center where several members of NATO countries join together for Join Military experience and we may have some fancy stuff compared with other lower ranked NATO members but the overall shape is horrible, Serbia should be in top 15 and germany not.

Interesting because it looks like the 2S1s original turret is used, which suggests they might have developed this idea... ie a converted 2S1 as an alternative to a whole new vehicle... and it seems the conversion of existing vehicles was clearly the cheaper option.

    Russian Ground Forces: News #2 - Page 15 0_4b2610

This being the original 2S1 with a 122mm main gun.

    Russian Ground Forces: News #2 - Page 15 Ya95ef10

And this being the 2S34 Hosta with the 122mm gun/howitzer replaced by a 120mm gun/mortar.

the turrets are similar but possibly not the same.

USA being a peice of crap again as usual. This time, they are now bitching about Russias snap drills saying they shouldnt have them. I hope to spite USA, they increase them more and closer to Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania borders and say "you do it to us, we do it to you. Dont dictate what we can and cannot do in our own country".

Ahh, damn, you are quite right.

Here is a picture showing Vena (2S31) and Khosta (2S34).

Thanks for posting that... I was trying to show the turret of the 2S34 is smaller than Vena... showing that Hosta isn't just a 2S1 with a Vena turret fitted... that is the 2S1 adapted with the 120mm gun/mortar replacing the old 122mm howitzer.

This time, they are now bitching about Russias snap drills saying they shouldnt have them.

Russia will treat such a request with the respect it deserves.... ie none.  Wink
