Military history is rich in cases where overwhelming superiority in the air did not prevent the defeat of nations facing guerrilla warfare.

Just as an example, the same US you mention was unable to defeat the Taliban, despite having tens of thousands of bombs at their disposal.

Lebanon is smaller, more density and Israeli hit civilian targets much more easily than nato fighting in the afghan mountains.

Israel won't win but Lebanon will loose a lot against those 1000 kg bomb exploding in city centers.

They engaged with them, inflicted losses, and forced them to retreat.
