Thats why I said that RuAF should go to Iraq and make a mockery off this 'threat'. Have no mercy to ISIL scumbags, US would completely lose grounds in ME (except Israel of course).

Obama to Present Case for Broader U.S. Mission Against Militants
WASHINGTON — President Obama will use a speech to the nation on Wednesday to make his case for launching a United States-led offensive against Sunni militants gaining ground in the Middle East, seeking to rally support for a broad military mission while reassuring the public he is not plunging American forces into another Iraq war.
“I’m preparing the country to make sure that we deal with a threat from” the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, Mr. Obama said in an interview broadcast Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
“What I want people to understand,” he said, “is that over the course of months, we are going to be able to not just blunt the momentum” of the militants. “We are going to systematically degrade their capabilities; we’re going to shrink the territory that they control; and, ultimately, we’re going to defeat them,” he added.

Maybe Russia should send those S-300s now, just saying.iraqidabab wrote:Islamic State militants want to fight Putin
Here's a slightly new geopolitical wrinkle. Earlier this week, the Islamic State issued a video challenging a powerful global leader. But this time, it was not President Obama or one of his counterparts in Europe. It was Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In the video, fighters pose atop Russian military equipment, including a fighter jet, captured from the forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. This is Agence France-Presse's transcription of what follows:ISIS wrote:
"This is a message to you, oh Vladimir Putin, these are the jets that you have sent to Bashar, we will send them to you, God willing, remember that," said one fighter in Arabic, according to Russian-language captions provided in the video.
"And we will liberate Chechnya and the entire Caucasus, God willing," said the militant. "The Islamic State is and will be and it is expanding God willing."
"Your throne has already teetered, it is under threat and will fall when we come to you because Allah is truly on our side."

Title says it's MI-28 AT NIGHT
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=d08_1410167871
***More info: This is an attack that was carried out by the Iraqi air force on targets in a town called "DHULUIYA". The attack was requested by the people of the town as they are surrounded by ISIS and consistently attacked by them. A member of the resistant town was able to pass on the locations of these targets to the air force. Towards the end of the video we can hear that some one from the Iraqi air force base contacting the member of the town and confirming the accuracy of the strikes.

Could as well be Mi-35. Both are night capable.

You're right read that too fast.
The gun sound sounds more like the MI-28's one barrel 30mm then the double barrel 23mm though.

I presume the night vision equipment on the export model Mi-28 is the same as the night vision equipment on the export Mi-35M2...
Pleased to see them being useful.
BTW the fact that they are in contact with the Air Force and got feed back on the results of the attack suggests they are probably well informed as to what helo type was used.

Export models and other variants could be quieter. That or it was the location of the filmer etc.sheytanelkebir wrote:iraqidabab wrote:You're right read that too fast.

No, they would not. To have any direct acustic diffrences between Mi-28 domestic or export you need to change at least the engines and for bigger difference the rotor blades, but they are identical to domestic Mi-28.
It does not even sound like Mi-28 nor Mi-35 and maybe it is the crappy mobile phone camera but it really doesn't sound anywhere near as big as Mi-28.

In the anti-Assad Syrian rebels, there are many jihadist groups with various names. The Arabic media and politicians have already warned that there is a risk of terrorism and religious radicalism inside the rebels, notably the Al-Nursa Front and the ISIL. Especially ISIL leader is the notorious al-Baghdadi came from Iraq. However, the U.S. and its EU allies did not pay attention from Arab's warning, since President Obama did not want to involve in Arabic internal conflicts, and the U.S. believed that ISIL and Nursa belongs to the common anti-Assad opposition.
Only until the late 2012, when the Nursa Front and ISIL showed their true color, the U.S. declared them as international terrorists. The U.S. response was late, and furthermore, it was weak. The U.S. only stopped at a number of punish resolutions which had no real effect. In Syria, ISIL was free to rampage.

Arabic media complained everyday about the crimes and disaster caused by ISIL in Syria, but the U.S. and EU paid no attention. Only when al-Baghdadi returned to Iraq and directly threaten U.S. influence, the U.S. and its allies realized the threat from ISIL.

It's not about how load it is, but about the pattern from rotors and engines. I maybe very wrong but from seeing loads of vidoes from Mi-28 filmed with high pro cameras and crappy mobile phones they all had covered the distinctive sound pattern while here it sounds different. Sounds more like a smaller engine and smaller sized helicopter overall. Maybe i am wrong and it is indeed Mi-28.

the Mi28NE are not even in service yet.
The night time attack was most probably carried out by an EC635 with its 20mm... it fits the bill in terms of what the iraqis possess most closely.

Would be very astonishing if they would somehow manage to use them already after recieving them without even having proper time to get settled with the basic mechanical terms and logistics.

CIA Estimates 31,500 Islamic State Fighters in Iraq, Syria
MOSCOW, September 12 (RIA Novosti) - The Islamic State (IS) has up to 31,500 militants on the ground in Iraq and Syria, the US Central Intelligence Agency estimated.
"CIA assesses the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant can muster between 20,000 and 31,500 fighters across Iraq and Syria, based on a new review of all-source intelligence reports from May to August," CIA spokesman Ryan Trapani said, Agence France-Presse reported Thursday.
According to Trapani, there are several reasons for the considerable increase in the military power of IS.
"This new total reflects an increase in members because of stronger recruitment since June following battlefield successes and the declaration of a caliphate, greater battlefield activity and additional intelligence," he explained.
The CIA statement came a day after US President Barack Obama announced plans to defeat the IS by extending US airstrikes from Iraq to Syria.
The Islamic State, formerly known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), is a Sunni jihadist group that has been fighting against the Syrian government since 2012. In June 2014, the group extended its attacks to northern and western Iraq, declaring a caliphate on the territories under its control later that month.
