Yep ,,but is much more than that.. ISIL = NATO trained private mercenaries ..from all around the world..
Many not even are jihadist..  but real NATO special forces.  It is believed Israel advisors/special forces are heavily active
acting as ISIL .  and i already saw some executions of "captured" iraqui army prisoners that looked staged .

they say on the media is a show.. they pretty much involved in the war .ISIL goal is to take IRAQ oil fields and SYRIA oil fields under Kurdish Control by creating a Kurdistan state.  It remains to be seen what will Russia will do.. What i bet is that if RUssia warns to drop a nuclear bomb on ISIL held territories if they do not drop their weapons   contrary to real ALqaeda terrorist. they will surrender. NATO special forces well know there are no 72 virgins for martys in heaven..  

Im already thinking that the same Iraqui bribed army helped NATOISIL to enter in North of IRAQ.

Many of those you are referring to as "special purpose forces" are just cannon fodders.

Not really ,they are NATO trainned for years army..they even have american weapons and apcs.. NATO is not going to repeat the same mistake of Syria that they armed anyone who wanted to fight regardless of combat experience. This are real combat soldiers.. and this
is why they are very fast cleaning cities.. The are recruited from all europe ,even Israel have been said to be involved leading their fights.
The US congress wanting to impeach Obama for IRAQ disaster is all a Show.. US and NATO ,specially Turkey ,Israel and Saudi Arabia are highly involved in ISIL operations and is not coincidence ..that they took Syria oil fields first and IRAQ second.. they are not just Jihadist

PRAGUE (AP) — The Czech Republic is in talks to possibly sell military helicopters to Iraq's government, which is struggling with a militant uprising.

Defense Ministry spokesman Jan Pejsek says Iraqi officials expressed interest in buying up to 40 Russian-made Mi-24 helicopters when negotiating a different contract to buy 12 Czech-made L-159 light combat planes.

Pejsek says the defense ministry has seven such helicopters it does not need and could be sold to Iraq.

But any deal would take time because the helicopters would have to be modernized ( Russia ? ) first and Iraqi pilots would need to undergo training.

I read on Jane's that a few Iraqi helicopters where shot down by ISIS during January to May period. What helicopters where they? ANy of the new Mi-35s?

AFAIK no Mi35 were lost.

No Mi-35 has been shot down, they meant the MI 17

Speaking to the BBC's Arabic service in his first interview for an international broadcaster since the crisis started, Mr Maliki said that Iraq had bought 36 American jet fighters, but that the process had been "slow and very long-winded".

"I'll be frank and say that we were deluded when we signed the contract. We should have sought to buy other jet fighters like British, French and Russian to secure the air cover for our forces; if we had air cover we would have averted what had happened," he went on.

He said Iraq was acquiring "second-hand jet fighters from Russia that should arrive in Iraq in two or three days".

"God willing, within one week this force will be effective and will destroy the terrorists' dens," he said.

Iraq will in next days receive Russian Su-24 fighter bombers to fight with ISIS. If they give them also enough LGBs, they will be very useful and will fly high enough, that they will be out of reach for ISIS MANPADs.

Nobody can challenge Russia, Iran and China in middle east anymore. My bet is that ISIL will be mauled. BTW I heard that new fighters will be sent from India to support the Shia front.

Yes, the Shia axis is too powerful and millions of Iraqi's have volunteered to fight ISIS, let's not forget that the secular Arab govt's such as Syria, Algeria, and Egypt have an ax-to-grind with the Wahhabi and Salafi terror brigades. Russia, China, the Shia dominant countries of Iraq and Iran, and the Secular Arab govt's of Syria, Egypt, and Algeria are too powerful of a combination for the degenerate Gulf Monarchies to handle!

You guys are grossly overestimating Russia's influence in the region.
This Russia-Iran-China axis is far from hegemonic in the area. Wouldn't even call it an axis, just some rough overlap of interests.
