Didn't think BS-64 would ever make it. Glad to be proven wrong.

The model on top is a modified Delta III, btw

Here are two easy ways to tell Delta III and Delta IV apart:

    1) D3 has elongated ellipsoid bow. D4 bow is more rounded

    2) D3 has square flooding vents, D4 has "slit" vents.

Those are the two really obvious ones.

In Sep this year, the NYT quoted USN officials about 'suspicious' activities of Russian ships and subs around underwater fibre optic cables that are crucial for internet traffic between Europe and the US and China & Japan and US. Apparently at best, they are worried they are planting bugs and sensors on the cables and at worst, that they could cut the cables in times of a crisis....they're also worried about sensors being placed on the SOSUS underwater cables designed to monitor the movements of Russian subs

The Russians deny the accusations, but various military commentators are saying those sort of activities were going on during the cold war and haven't really ceased since then....one of the vessels mentioned as specifically tasked with such a role is the Losharic sub

Looks like the hump has been toned down drastically or has gone completely.
What will be the role of the submarine? What will it carry?

Since the “Arctic-2012” expedition in 2012 where it was sent down to 3000m it was not in the focus.
AS-12 saw some repairs after that journey at Severodvinsk.
Now (June 2016) it seems back at Olenya Guba.
Terraserver has a nice image. There she is together with a Paltus class (AS-35)

Lol careful - Gary blasted me for using HI Sutton as a source last month.

    ...screwy forum, this.

    It has in giant letters:

"turning the Arctic into Russia's own back yard"

I mean really... the bald face temerity of Russia to even consider turning its own back yard into its own back yard.

Doesn't it realise that the US does not understand geography and the Arctic obviously belongs to the US.

Lots of interesting information but ruined by so much western STUPID.

It is like a fan boy site that peppers its articles with western stereotypes to get some credibility with a western audience... and to be honest that turns my stomach... it is just creepy. And ignorant.

They'll definitely build more, fitted with autonomous sub "Kanyon", with Status-6 munition load outs.
