Tor-M2DT air defense system: the geography of use is expanding
IEMZ "Kupol" (part of the JSC Concern "Almaz-Antey") presents at the forum "Army-2019" new models of military equipment. Moreover, participating in the main national military exposition, the plant identified priority areas not only in strengthening the country's defense capability, but also in supporting the patriotic movement Yunarmiya, founded on the initiative of the Russian Defense Ministry, in educating the younger generation, in shaping an active life position among young people: a detachment of young soldiers - students of the Izhevsk TRIT, created with the support of the KEMU IEMP - entered the guard of honor of the military equipment of the plant. Yunarmiya will keep an honorary watch throughout the work of the MVTF "Army-2019".
One of the main innovations of the plant, the
Tor-M2DT anti-aircraft missile system in sand camouflage, is located at the Concern’s combined exposition. The air defense systems of the Tor family are intended for air defense of troops and especially important objects. They can also be used as part of echelon-ed air defense groups, blocking the “dead zones” of long-range systems. The Tor-M2DT air defense system differs from the main model primarily in its carrier base - fire and reconnaissance vehicles are located on the chassis of the two-link tracked all-terrain vehicle DT-30PM Vityaz, produced by the Ishimbay transport engineering plant. The specific pressure on the ground is 0.3 kg / cm2 (less than that of a person), the ascent / descent angle is 35 degrees, and the heel is 20 degrees. It is able to move in complete off-road conditions.
First of all, the complex is intended for combat service in the Arctic, as part of the Arctic group of Russian troops, and several batteries of this complex have already been sent to units of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Federation. But the dressing of “Tor-M2DT” in the new “sandy” camouflage, in which it is presented at the “Army-2019” forum, focuses on the breadth of geography of the complex and symbolizes the proven ability of the air defense missile system to be tested in +50° C, and in different climatic conditions, for example, in deserts, tropics, highlands, as well as the ability to overcome sand dunes and various water barriers.
The Tor family’s air defense systems are capable of detecting air attack weapons at ranges of up to 32 km, simultaneously processing up to 144 target marks, determining the 10 most dangerous targets and taking them to escort. Up to 4 air attack weapons can be fired at the same time with a three-second interval for launching anti-aircraft guided missiles. The affected area in range from 1 km to 16 km, in height from 0.01 to 12 km, in terms of exchange rate ± 9.5 km. The air defense system is capable of intercepting small targets (effective scattering surface from 0.1 m2), flying at speeds of up to 700 m / s. Each combat vehicle carries 16 missiles 9M338. Effective destruction of targets is provided in any weather conditions, day and night, under conditions of intense fire and radio-optical-electronic countermeasures. The radio command guidance system ensures high accuracy of combat work - “Torahs” work according to the principle “one goal - one rocket”. It is likely that a rejection of the practice of shooting from a short stop will soon follow - the “Torah” “learned” to shoot down the means of air attack without stopping the movement. Their high tactical and technical characteristics of anti-aircraft missile systems manufactured by IEMZ Kupol are not only regularly confirmed during trials, but also effectively demonstrated in real combat.
Recall that in June 2019, combat docking shots of the Tor-M2DT air defense system took place at the Kapustin Yar testing ground in the Astrakhan Region. They became the final stage of the training use of a short-range ZRK in the combat units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the completion of the retraining of personnel of the anti-aircraft missile systems division before performing tasks in the Arctic and the Far North. Prior to this, the personnel had completed a theoretical course of study and coordination at the Air Defense Training Center of the Ground Forces in Yeisk. The first brigade set of the Tor-M2DT air defense system was delivered to the troops in 2018.
