Looks like the concrete Bunkers could not provide safety from the heavy mortars ? Then why do they think that they will be any safer in the open ? Desperate tactics justified under pretext of " ...heating for civilians ... " At least if they manage to deport the entire population in Donetsk under their control , then Russia could finally use heavy bombardment against any remaining Orc troops . But I doubt any will remain soon .

More likely perhaps it will be used as cover for the retreating, sorry repositioning, Ukrainian Army units that are supposed to be among their best.
Plus getting rid of all the civilian spies feeding targets to the Russians.

Pro-Russian civilians are keeping their head down like they all 8 years ago. It’s too dangerous to even make a squeak.
There are no phone lines to call to relay information nor military has time to trust it 100%
Plenty of human/tactical and strategic intel gathered, last thing you want to do is to shell a civilian target because SBU disinformation.
This type of thinking that there are traitors everywhere in the east shows lack of trust in your own cause.

I had humanitarian work in mind, absolutely not touching anything else.

But its not related to the grain shipping deal as in the trilateral safety documents only Odessa, Chornomorsk and Pivdenny are covered.
According to [National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev], the vessel of the hydrographic service of Ukraine was blown up by a Ukrainian drifting mine on Thursday "when measuring the depths of the fairway at the mouth of the Danube River."
In six ports (Kherson, Nikolaev, Chernomorsk, Ochakov, Odessa and Yuzhny), 70 foreign ships from 16 states remain blocked. The threat of shelling and the high mine danger created by official Kyiv do not allow ships to go to the open sea without hindrance,” Mizintsev said

done precisely nothing to stop Russia's campaign and instead have terrorized civilian shipping. Sums up the Kiev regime's essence.

No need to use good, ol´ An-2 for that. Russia got a lot of target drones to do this much better.d_taddei2 wrote:Another article

When the Russians are coming from the sea they won´t use a harbor to bring in troops but a location away from urban centers.kvs wrote:The Ukr frenzy to mine the ports was retarded. Their problem is a land invasion and not an invasion by sea. These mines have

Those plastic butterfly mines they used in Afghanistan... launched by rocket or delivered by helicopter or aircraft, they contain a liquid explosive... when they are launched the mines are frozen... once they thaw out the liquid explosive becomes dangerous and will explode at a touch.
The western reporters came across a Muj with a big hole in his forehead and worked out he had been throwing stones at the mines to set them off before he tried walking through an area that had been seeded with them... one of the mines he hit just right and the explosion blew the stone right back at him at high speed and penetrated his forehead and killed him on the spot...
If they are that sensitive will loud sounds with high base tones set them off?

I remember that the US media was accusing the Soviets of making bombs shaped like "childrens toys", and thereby invoked the "Evil Russians" meme. It turns out that these are what the presstitites were referring to. It really takes some imagination (or just plain old fashioned dishonesty) to say they looks like "toys"...

Ukrainian millionaire agricultural magnate, Oleksiy Vadatursky, was killed today after a Russian missile strike hit his villa in Mykolaiv.
Vadatursky was the owner Nibulon, one of the county's largest agricultural companies, specialising in the production and export of wheat.

What's funny is that they are essentially copies of the BLU-43/44 mines that the U.S. dropped on Vietnam.
So that whole "evil Russians" thing was a bit of an own goal back then.
No, they aren't designed to look like toys, they're designed to disperse similarly to linden seeds. Still an awful weapon on its own, though, but the whole toy thing was invented for the press.

This is what we can call "asymmetric"

In the current propaganda hysteria climate no claims can be taken at face value.

Just a guess but as most of the fighting in the rest of Ukraine is positional and as Ukraine knew Kherson is an obvious place to strike, then given its strategic importance I would expect every available tank, APC and SPG on both sides to be there, if they have the fuel.
Lose this battle and its effectively all over, the impact on morale in the rest of Ukraine and probably NATO would be considerable. Russia could then, for want of a better word, mop up all the way to the Polish border. A lot of eyes will be watching this unfold whilst taking notes.
This is why the Russians are pushing so hard even with suspect logistics over the two damaged bridges. No doubt if they have to they will airlift supplies in with an Il-76 shuttle service.
If Putin's words along the lines of 'you haven't seen anything yet' mean anything then we could be about to see just what he meant as this seems to me to be the time and place to unleash the bear and scare the shit out of NATO.

the intensity of its campaign from day one and is fighting a war against the biggest and I would say most powerful military outside of its
own in Europe with an expeditionary force.
