But not right now, since Ukraine won't allow collusion between Russia and Serbia for obvious reasons and getting into the Black Sea requires crossing the territorial waters of either Romania or Ukraine for Serbian merchant vessels...in those waters (12 nm zone) any e.g. weapons shipments can be lawfully intercepted.flamming_python wrote:Because of course Serbia itself is a real Danube nation, and can always use its own ships to sail and deliver or bring back whatever goods from the Odessa region. No questions asked. If the Romanians try to block them, then they can just block Romania's own access via the Danube through their own territory to Europe.

The video reports that guidance is performed on the final section of the trajectory using a laser beam, and that the drone operator is responsible for this. They also say that the calculation releases about 10 such shells per day, so there have been no misses yet. Further, a fighter with the call sign "Lom" reports that they recently destroyed two armored vehicles "Cossack" and caught a truck with ammunition during unloading. The truck and all the enemy's manpower were destroyed. For this, the artillery crew has been presented with a reward, but has not yet had time to celebrate this event, since the offensive is underway and they have a lot of work to do.famschopman wrote:So once in the air, the shell uses fins (I assume the last section of that shell contains collapsed fins) and Glonass to guide itself to the target? How do you program the target coordinates?

caveat wrote:Ukraine doesn't control Danube delta. It only has access to northern most branch. Most of the cargo traffic, in any case, goes through Danube-Black Sea canal, between Cherna Voda and Constanta, which is a major Black Sea modal port and biggest port in Romania. Even if Russia would take control of Odessa oblast, it can't close delta for traffic since Sulina branch is completely in Romanian territory. Not that they would even think of doing that.
Once Odessa is in Russian control, any russian ship can enter the Danube without having to ask permission to Rumenia. izmail (former Genovese colony) is on the Danube and pretty big ships can arrive there.
I did not mean about blocking rumenian ships from entereing the black sea. I meant that Russia could harass rumenian ships in the black sea if they try to do the same I'm the Danube.

The point is, that once Russkie will take Imzail with the Danube delta, all the cargo traffic can be carried.
Serbia won't be landlocked anymore, and a whole different economic situation starts to exist.
And that is not only Serbia and Hungary, but Austria as well.
Austra has a decades-long history of good relations with Russia that were put on hold mostly due to pressure and lack of safe potential.
We don't consider here a potential to block Romanian export, just the fact that Romanians in existing circumstances can't do much to hurt the potential of shipping goods directly to Russian-friendly countries. And we talk not only Russian. Who will dispute a container vessel under Austrian flag full of freshly delivered from China goodies sailing up to Vienna?
This would be a huge window of opportunity and a really good leverage. A giant part of "arguments" and bulling potential will be gone.

Landlocked in respect to what? Serbia doesn't do much trade with Russia, to begin with.

According to this document the Danube can be navigated all the way to Bavaria by freighters with 135 m length, 17 m width and 3500 t capacity...a Su-57 btw. has about 20 m length and 14 m width and most, if not all the other weaponry of the Russian Armed Forces (excluding Navy and Strategic Missile Forces) would fit on such freighters.caveat emptor wrote:Landlocked in respect to what? I'm not saying that shipping Su-57s to Serbia would be likely, but alone the possibility of that and much increased, unimpeded civilian trade means that cooperation between Serbia and Russia could go to a whole 'nother level and give Serbia and Hungary (and also Slovakia and Austria if they wish) the necessary bargaining chips to take a more sovereign, neutral position when faced with Western pressure. The only thing that the West could do is to try and pressure Romania into violating the Danube Convention...but if Romania does then Russia can use that as justification for violation of, e.g. Romanian freedom of navigation in the Black Sea, thus effectively land-locking them via a blockade, or even stop respecting Romanian sovereignty in terms of airspace; should Romania start shooting down Russian transport aircraft in such a case then Romania will be wrecked...after all, in Ukraine NATO is already being partially demilitarized.

The SMO is proceeding as planned, especially after the reconfiguration; >60% of the original equipment of AFU is trashed and the rest will be trashed by the end of this year. Then Russia takes whatever it wants.

This is so funny, but...could it be a pretext for a real nato/Russia clash in Baltics?

Well, seems to be an outright purge going on. Bunch of governors, various government deputies, and Zelensky says "more to come".
New instructions from Washington?
Been a while since Biden made a couple of phonecalls with threats and got Shokin fired.
Also, not a conspiracy theorist, but that the entire leadership of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs was killed off in one fell swoop less than a week ago is ...I just can't pretend it's not suspicious.

Would've done this from day 1 if they really can
in contrast, they can't even secure a firm control in Afghanistan vs the Taliban
