Looks like on top of current 60 (?) Su-30 SM can be ordered 75 extra respekt

The Russian air force are preparing a new contract for delivery of su-30CM

It is assumed that the document can be signed until the end of the year. For 3 years the air force can get up to 75 planes , said Deputy Minister of defense Yuri Borisov.

I saw a bit of news couple of days ago that VMF might want as many as 57 Su-30SM (with 20 already ordered). Hopefully i can find it again.

Given the news of 60-75 SMs to be ordered by the RuMoD for the next 3 years, i'm prudently assuming that the VMF ones are included in that total, so about 37 more to go, which might mean VVS would get an additional 38 or so on top of the 60 already ordered.

Flown by Russia I assume? I guess we'll find out soon enough...

Time to see what real airpower with real objectives can achieve. Not some phantom air campaign that tends to bomb empty buildings with 5th generation aircraft.

sudden Ruslan´s  flights?  Well nobody dis goign to attck Latakia airport neither Israeli non US - this means attack to nuclear power. Of course 12 Su-30SM would be nice add for air superiority and antiship deterrence. But ground offensive is to q challenge is Syrians troops enough or Russians will fight on the ground? or maybe Iranian corps with support of RuAF?

BTW why US is so concerned abut Russian forces in Latakia? I dunno Laughing

Yeah pretty much this. It's amazing how successful the Yak-130 and it's 'variants' have been, considering all the different countries that operate them.

This is  actually good sign - Yks 130 (Russian variant Smile ) can easily be converted in 1 multirole plane in speed class of F-35  - and with new electronic comparable fighting machine ?

It is quite interesting to see, how the west was surprised and no one actually know when and where Su-30SM fly to Syria and that no one actually detect them. Considering, that NATO have a lot of radars in Turkey and US have their radars in Jordan and full control of Iraqi air space through their coalition flights against ISIS and AWACS control. They detect Su-24 and Su-25 later, but Su-30SM surprise them. I wonder if RuAF Su-30SM also have RAM coat like Su-34 and Su-35 have to reduce their RCS to around 1 m2. If correct, than this could prove, that Russian RAM works against western radars and combined with SAP-518 ECM pods Su-30SM could be a real problem for western fighters. I don't think export Su-30MKI/MKM have RAM coat, but domestic Su-30Sm could have.

well they may have radars, nonetheless NCTR (Non Cooperative Target Recognition) Still not a common feature to today's radar especially air surveillance one. My guess however is that those Su-30's are detected but not identified or those Su-30's "tagging" along larger aircraft in such a distance that it cannot be resolved by the surveillance radar..the larger aircraft's RCS will mask those Su-30SM's

Naval squadron formed in the Crimea from the Su-30SMs

Currently, as part of the Black Sea Fleet Naval Aviation has 8 units of Su-30SM. In accordance with the plan of renovation of the fleet fighters should gradually replace the Sukhoi Su-24, which form the basis of the aviation component of the Black Sea Fleet.

First 2015 built Su-30SM for RuAF flew to Millerovo Air Base.

In the near future in the 31st Regiment Millerovo should fly 2 more ready Su-30SM.

    Some interesting points:

    1. This base composed of MiG-29s will be rearmed with Su-30SM and Su-35S
    2. In addition, until the end of 2015 in Millerovo will put another new 16 Su-30SMs
    3. Plans for the replacement by the end of 2016, of the MiG-29s of Russian airbase in Erebuni (Armenia) by new ordered MiG -29SMTs.
    4. MiG-29 (aircraft types 9-12 and 9-13) career in the combat units of the RuAF has come to its end.

So all MiG-29's of old design will just be retired or are they going to be thoroughly uograded? Cause it looks like Russia is going for UBM as well, no? If not and they are just headed to storage, maybe it is in their best interest to donate working units or ones easily repairable to Syrian airforce.
