If I were to project power as an Egyptian leader, I would pick Ethiopia first.

Re: Libyan Crisis
Well , you need to check the map .Egypt has long land borders with Libya which means land forces are easily to engage and establish a big bases in the eastern Libya and be sure Turkey would be Fuc*ed .
Ethiopia is far a way and there is no need for ground forces there , the issue is taking a political path first to the end and military solution is the last thing.

Re: Libyan Crisis
I dont expect Libyan theatre to turn into inter-states conflict, rather it will be war of attrition.
Egypt-UAE-Greece-Israel-Cyprus energy axis is being formed but appearently this "cooperation" will not turn a military one as Turkey has 9 frigates already in Libyan&Greek claimed EEZ territories with 2 drillers.
And I dont see why Egypt is there. I guess two reasons : non-sense anti Turkish strategy because Erdogan dislikes Sisi and Egypt could get money faster. Maybe..
What Erdogan does =! what political Islam does. In fact Turkish deep state was/is/will be in control of Turkish actions.
Sisi should see this. Hostility with Erdoğan=!hostility with Turkish state. It shouldnt be.

This energy axis is an economical one not military .In january, Greece, Israel, Cyprus signed EastMed 1900km gas pipeline deal. EU and Israel last year agreed to proceed with EastMed project, a $6 to $7 billion pipeline project.
So the plan is going well to put more tensions between EU and Turkey . Turkish nonsense hostility to the regime in Egypt led the last to make agreements with Greece-Cyprus and neglecting Turkey ,ceating more issue between it and EU .
By the way Turkish navy is legally there in Libya from long time as a part of the operation "Sea Guardian" by NATO since 2016 .
And I dont see why Egypt is there. I guess two reasons : non-sense anti Turkish strategy because Erdogan dislikes Sisi and Egypt could get money faster. Maybe..
Egypt is there because Erdogan said he will not accept the current area of turkey (780,000 km² ) and Turkey must expand .
Libya is a neighbour to Egypt ,so the correct question is why Turkey is there .Why Turkey in Syria and Iraq dealing with terrorists and trading Arabs oil with them .
Sisi should see this. Hostility with Erdoğan=!hostility with Turkish state. It shouldnt be.
Well Erdogan since the beginning was attacking Sisi and never Sisi mention Turkey by hostility .
Erdogan deams to control Egypt at time of Muslim Brotherhood rule just went away by Sisi . Erdogan could just accept that and start a new relations with the new regime but he was stupid to choose the wrong choice .

Turkey is in Libya for EEZ agreement.
What complicates the situation in MidEast in general is the friction between UAE and Turkey. UAE backs Sisi and Qatar backs Erdogan. As long as these two countries sit and solve their issues, money lenders wont have much choice.

Well the most ideal outcome of the situation is that terrorists from Syria are sent by Turkey to get killed in Libya... and honestly the more that die there the better for all concerned... Turkey should take all the terrorist scum from Idlib and their families and relocate them in Libya in places where they can't hurt the locals but can be dealt with by which ever side is winning there...

Re: Libyan Crisis
Analysis from Moscow. Zandex translate
"This is the end of Haftar." This is how the Turkish press assesses the major defeat of the Libyan Marshal Haftar. Footage of captured Russian-made vehicles, including the Pantsir-S1 air defense system, was released to the media. Does the person who is supported by Moscow finally lose his position in Libya?
The government of national accord (GNA) of Libya, located in Tripoli, declared a major victory over the Libyan national army (LNA) of General Haftar. Tripolitans with the active support of Turkey after almost two months of fighting have taken the airbase of al-Watia.
The capture of an air base 120 kilometers West of Tripoli was announced in the traditional Arab world pretentious wording. "Our brave military has established control over the al-Watyya air base," the press service of the military operation Volcano of anger said in a statement on Twitter. NTC military spokesman Mohammad Kanunu said that military equipment and ammunition of Marshal Khalifa Haftar's troops were destroyed, and seven people were "killed or injured". The information was confirmed by the commander of operations of the NTC forces, General Abdel Basyt Mervana. Haftar's staff, after thinking about it, said that "it is better to admit defeat honestly than to fight dishonorably." Thank you for that.
First on the basis of al-Watya were Turkish journalists and volunteer bloggers. They also published numerous photos with equipment captured from the LNA. There are old Soviet planes that are only suitable for scrap, and helicopters of about the same condition, and numerous ammunition, and Chinese UAVs, and trucks produced in Egypt and the UAE.
But the main trophy of Tripolitania became a Russian air defense missile systems "Pantsir-S1", delivered to the Haftarot from the UAE. It is badly damaged, burned, and cannot move itself, but it was ostentatiously driven on a tractor through the streets of Tripoli. In a day and a half, Pantsir turned into a powerful propaganda tool.
In the Turkish press, there are publications that say almost about the "end of Haftar" and that allegedly "sponsors of Haftar" (meaning Russia) will now look for a replacement for him, hinting at Seif Gaddafi. The Arab sympathizers of the tripolitans speak in much the same spirit. What was it all about and can we talk about a turning point in the civil war in Libya?
Unpredictable tribes
In the early spring of this year, a complex front line formed in Western Libya, and the fighting on the southern outskirts of Tripoli degenerated into minor local clashes. Some variety in this chaos was brought by Turkish drones, as well as constant behind-the-scenes attempts by both warring parties to win over independent Berber formations (which are extremely urgent to attract somewhere to the front outside of their natural range). After Haftar declared himself the "Supreme ruler of Libya", this" struggle for minds " sharply escalated.
In early may, the LNA launched operation Tuyur Ababil ("Flock of birds") – a new offensive, but not only on the capital, but along the entire coastal front line. On may 9, haftarists bombed Mitiga international airport and several Central districts of Tripoli, hitting the Turkish and Italian embassies, which caused a major scandal. In response, the next day, Turkish UAVs bombed the localities of Rajban and Zintan, located to the West and southwest of Tripoli at a considerable distance from the Libyan capital.
This started with the fall of the base of al-Watia. This is due to the configuration of the front and the peculiarities of the mentality of a number of local tribes.
Al-Watyya airfield was built by the British and Americans in the barren desert during the Second world war and did not suffer at all during the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi, NATO did not bomb it (because there are preserved ancient MiG-25s, which are now bombed by the tripolitans – they still did not fly).
Located about 30 kilometers Southeast of the al-Watyya base, the Berber town of Zintan under Gaddafi was a stronghold of either Western liberalism or abstract anti-gaddafism. Then the 50-thousand-year-old town flourished and was considered a tourist destination. But the local militia (the so-called zintan brigades under the command of Osama Juwaili) for some personal reasons (in the West they were for some reason persistently called "liberals", although this is just a tribal militia) actively supported the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi. Government forces engaged in bloody battles with the zintans, and NATO actively supported the latter. The zintans turned out to be very militant and have since occupied an important place in the Libyan military-tribal system.
Subsequently, it was in Zintan that Seif Gaddafi was arrested – and held in a local prison until he escaped from there under unclear circumstances. Then he was again in zintan prison, from where he was officially released under an Amnesty in the summer of 2017. By this time, the "zintan brigades" had managed to change their political orientation a couple of times and eventually joined Marshal Haftar on the basis of a General dislike for Islamism. Thus, the "Western front" was formed – a formally LNA-controlled section of the desert with the main stronghold in the form of the al-Watyya base. For haftar's opponents, the tripolitans, he represented an eternal headache, since he partially covered the border with Tunisia and threatened the LNA's access to the coast.
In addition, it required a significant distraction of manpower, which the PNS does not have much. And the al-Watyya base itself used drones and effectively fought with Turkish counterparts (only in the last week they shot down several "Bayraktars" and one "Anka").
Earlier in April, the tripolitans twice tried to attack al-Watya, but retreated with heavy losses. Turkish drones equalized the chances, but new attempts to storm the air base also did not lead to anything.
And on may 10, Turkish UAVs "Anka" struck directly at the city of Zintan. This RAID had no military-strategic significance, but the psychological effect was calculated accurately. The "zintan brigades" immediately abandoned their assigned sections of the front (including the al-Watyya base) and rushed to their hometown, where they began to burn Turkish flags and swear allegiance to Marshal Haftar. The Turks just to be sure again bombed by al-Watya, but the NTC troops entered the base already almost without a fight. All combat-ready units of the LNA themselves withdrew to Zintan.
It is not possible to find out the current political orientation of the zintans. It is even said that juwaili had previously negotiated with Tripoli to surrender the base. That's what always happens when you deal with such tribes. You never know what's on their minds.
Threat To Haftar
Now the main success of the NTC troops is considered primarily the physical destruction of the" Western front", which will allow the tripolitans to transfer the forces that were stuck there to Tripoli. In principle, the NTC did not have such a base, not only in the West of the country, but in General in the entire territory under its control. All this can really change the balance of power in the area of the Libyan capital. It is assumed that the NTC may begin planning a counter-attack on Tarhuna – THE main LNA stronghold on the outskirts of Tripoli. And this is really capable of becoming a serious problem for Marshal Haftar.
After the tripolitans occupied al-Vatya and the collapse of the "Western front", the situation is still like this. Haftar lost the advantage gained in the last month and lost its support in the West, but so far it has retained key air positions at the expense of other airfields. The offensive on Tripoli, the operation of the "Flock of birds" – was a failure. All this does not mean an immediate defeat of the LNA, but its external allies (we are primarily talking about Egypt and the UAE) will have to strain to restore the LNA's combat capability. In addition, Haftar suffered a serious moral and psychological blow. Nothing like this had ever happened to him before.
This is all, of course, not a tragedy, as it is covered in Turkey and Qatar, but if the LNA's potential is restored, the war threatens to drag on again for almost years. At the same time, the potential for compromise has long been exhausted and there is very little hope for a political settlement.

Libya is not a united country to make a deal with it .Such deals should pass through the Parliment and this didn't happen ,actually the Libyan Parliment rejected it because it only serve the Turkish interests . Turkey is far from Libya , Greece is situated geographically between them. Such agreement violates the water of Greece and Cyprus .
Turkey didn't solve the problem by this agreement ,only it caused more problems to Turkey .The main problem is to convince Greece and EU to accept it and this is not gonna happen .Everyone in the mediterranean is pumping ,using and exporting gas now except Turkey .

The LNA are taking serious equipment losses as they quickly retreat, abandoning everything they can't carry. Interesting to see that again a ME army does not believe in scorched earth, I suppose as the expect to get it back again next time through and both sides think the same! They will be back where they started from soon at this rate.

The Airport is 8 km² but Sirt is 184 km² and LNA captured it before long time in 3 hours , just for clarification .
GNA with Syrian terrorists took Airport and reached to the city of Tarhuna ,captured it to secure Tripoli .
Now LNA occupy about 70% of Libyan lands including about half of population and most of the Oil fields which is the most important thing there .
Fayez al-Sarraj the head of GNA went to Turkey yesterday and Erdogan said Turkish companies will start work there , his only target to steal the oil like what he did with ISIS ,but sorry oil is not available here .

And LNA is at pretty much where they were 1 year ago.
No pantsir in Ankara. Mi-35 is widely use, even NATO and their friends use it.

Re: Libyan Crisis
If i'm in place of Haftar i would leave Tripoli and make elections in the east and south and start pumping oil to serve these areas .Let Turkey and Qatar pay for GNA .
