Putin points to relevance of Union State of Russia and Belarus for two nations

Russian president said the gained experience in joint work helps the countries in finding optimal solutions of any issues, and favors further development of the mutually advantageous ties

MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin greeted Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko on the Unity Day of the peoples of Russia and Belarus, the Kremlin’s press service said on Sunday.

In the telegram, the Russian president pointed to relevance of the Union State for Russians and Belarussians and hailed results of integrational cooperation in the political, trade-economic, scientific-technical, humanitarian and other spheres, achieved over more than two decades.

Putin also said the gained experience in joint work helps the countries in finding optimal solutions of any, even most complicated, issues, and favors further development of the mutually advantageous ties.

The Unity Day is celebrated on April 2. It is devoted to establishment of the Union State of Russia and Belarus. The countries signed an agreement on the Commonwealth between Russia and Belarus in 1996, and on the same date in 1997 they signed an agreement on the Union of Russia and Belarus.

Russia to announce gas discount for Belarus in coming days

On April 3, after the meeting between presidents of Russia and Belarus it was announced that the oil and gas dispute between the two states had been settled

MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. The discount on gas for Belarus, which will be effective from 2018, has already been determined and will be announced in the coming days, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich told reporters.

"You will find out in the next few days, it has already been determined, legal procedures are simply being completed," he said.

On April 3, after the meeting between Presidents of Russia and Belarus, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko, it was announced that the oil and gas dispute between the two states had been settled.

According to the agreement, Belarus will repay the debt to Gazprom in the amount of more than $700 mln. In response Russia will increase duty-free oil supplies to Belarus from 18 million to 24 million tonnes and will provide a discount starting from 2018.

At the same time, Belarus and Russia will develop the rules for a single gas market by January 1, 2018.

Russia, Belarus approve Union State's foreign policy program for 2018-2019

The leaders of Russia and Belarus signed the document in the wake of Tuesday’s meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Russia and Belarus

MINSK, June 19. /TASS/. Russia and Belarus approved the Union State's 2018-2019 Program of Coordinated Foreign Policy Steps on Tuesday.

The leaders of Russia and Belarus, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko, signed the document in the wake of Tuesday’s meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Russia and Belarus.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has described the document as "a new program of coordinated actions for 2018-2019" that "retains consistency in the key areas."

"This applies primarily to enhancing cooperation within the CSTO and integration structures, conducting similar policies in the UN, OSCE, OPCW and other international bodies, joint work on the issue of European security, including relations with NATO and the European Union, and on countering new challenges and threats," the Russian minister said.

Lavrov said Moscow and Minsk view as priority "ensuring the diplomatic work of EAEU, increasing its global role, forming the Big Eurasian partnership with the participation of EAEU, SCO, ASEAN and, hopefully, the European Union in the future."

A total of nine documents have been approved by the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, including on results of last year’s trade and economic cooperation and the Union State’s development in 2018-2022. In addition, the council has also passed a number of documents to streamline its activities.

Lukashenko will end up as Janukovic (if he is lucky) or as Chausescu, if he does not stop keeping a foot in two shoes and opening to the west while siphoning off russian money and enriching himself and his oligarchs with black market.

I just wish Belarus not to have to live the same consequences as country 404 due to the corruption and cowardice of their leaders and the presence of a very dangerous minority of neonazis ...

Not likely IMO. Belarussian nationalism is a fringe movement in Belarus. It is not comparable to Ukrainian nationalism in any way.

Belarussian nationalists demand stop broadcasting Russian TV and bring in other foreign TV programs.

Russia's rather weak foreign policy will isolated Russia around it minus China.

I guess it's better to know your enemies outright. Belarussians are Russia's next enemies to Ukraine.

About the bielorussian bias and so on.

    https://www.memri.org/reports/russias-orbit-belarus-president-lukashenko-issue-unifying-belarus-russia-not-current-agenda

It's ridiculous when they say about equal terms between Russia and Bielorussia, and Lukashenko want only to keep his fiefdom with Russian money and do not pay for planes, etc. Better charge him full price and use the money to develop the economy of other Russian regions. They should spend economy in Bielorussia only when it become one or more constituent of the Russian Federation.

Maybe it is a play with the west in which Lukashenko is faking some problems with Russia for some higher end results, but it could also be that he is overestimating his own intelligence and importance and a few too many times he is damaging russian plans with his erratic behavior and request for money while cheating on russia and selling russian gas and goods, that he obtained at a cheap price only for internal use, to other countries.

Funny how those guys in ukraine, belarussia, poland... think that EU would just send thousand of millions of $ because they say bad things about russians.

Most people here in EU are already fed up of taking care of poor eastern countries that already EU members and those stupid guys in ukraine specially think we want to support their destroyed countries and work for them ... while they spend money on corruption and buy US stuff.

Reality will hit them very hard once US use them like dogs and leave them once useless. Then they will beg russia for help and they will be again used as dogs by russia and they will never have a decent situation.

Russia never used ukraine.or.bielorussia as dogs. They even contidued subsidizing their economy and.industries when both countries were flirting with the west.

Simply Russia should trade with everybody but not subsidize false friends. If they want to pay Russian price for gas and utilities then they would have also to send their taxes to Moscow and be a normal federal subject like Tatarstan or similar.

For Russia, Mongolia is a much better friend than Bielorussia...

Because of their strategic locations, US will give them "just enough" to create hate for Russia and Russians.

It shows within their people. Look at Ukraine. Failed state. Yet will continue to stay alive by both US handouts and IMF loans. The people are willing to both give up their sovereignty to the west, and along with living a harder life economically, just so they can spite Russia.

It's just how it goes. Russia has itself to blame too. Their inability to act is what causes this. Russia rather just sit by, give people discounts, while they spit on them and try to destroy them.

I mean, take a look at Russia itself - liberals have so much freedom, they don't even have to pay the fines the authorities push on them for breaking the law (that idiot who nailed his nuts to red square or set FSB door on fire). Yes, he got a fine, yet in France him and his wife face jail time for exact same act. But, the liberals still talk about how Russia is dictatorship while France isn't. Then they lie as we see when Austin posts news. Foreign NGO's are not in Russia to help. They are there to cause trouble. Yet, they operate freely. George Soros and Khordokovsky is banned in Russia yet they freely transfer money into Russia to other people..... All this stuff is documented and easily known, yet authorities sit on their ass and do nothing about it. These are people wanting to destroy their own country on behalf of USA.

It really breaks down to the gross incompetence Slavic nations show. They can't really get their shit together, and only one that does (Russia) is barely able to keep their country together in one piece as they allow anybody to freely walk around and try to kill the nation. Traitors are punished harshly in the west. In Russia? They are given a slap on the wrist.

    You are right.

Russia gave tens of billions, if not more, to Ukraine. Look at result.  Belarus is same. Kazakhstan, same.  Russia is litterally surrounded by whores.  Lukashenko cried about how they pay too much for Russian gas, even though it's $80 per 1000 cubic meter than Germany. He also cried how that Russia demanded Russian gas to Belarus goes through Russian ports rather than enemy states. If that is friends, who needs enemies?

Exactly, if they value so much their independence, than stop siphoning off Russian money, and do not pretend all the time a favourable treatment without offering anything in return.

    https://m.eng.belta.by/president/view/lukashenko-suggests-starting-oil-delivery-to-belarus-via-baltic-countries-117851-2019/

Concerning the use of baltic statelets ports... if Bielorussia do not want to play by Russian rules, Russia can simply stop giving work to their industries and use the money internally.

But NATO would swoop in and set up bases over there.. i think Russia just needs to tune up its propaganda campaign and brainwash Belarussians a bit more. Same for Ukraine, if a bunch of people can be successfully hipnotized to hate Russia i think the same method can be used to make them fold back to Russia, however for this to be successful Russia will need to simultaneously attack the main propagator of the problem which is western finances.

There is that option too. But major issue is Slavs are stupid enough to think that west = greatness even if modern media shows our stupidity.

    Or maybe they are afraid.

Or maybe they want to live in forever debt and live paycheck to paycheck

Eh I'll believe this when I see formal legislation, I have no problem with Russia and Belarus doing this if that's what they want.

but until, they formally start the process. It's just your typical political boosting.

We will see what happens I guess.

Belorus is a fake country created from the Bolshevik Soviet Socialist Republic. If we are going to use regional linguistic variation as
a basis for statehood, then England should be split into over twenty countries. There is more linguistic variation from village to village
in the UK than there is between Belorus and the rest of Russia.

Ukraine is a more special case since its history ruled by other countries spans into centuries. They are much more assimilated by Poland,
Austro-Hungary, etc. And Ukrainian is really a distinct language compared to Belorussian.

Russia needs to get its act together and foist regime change on this fake clown show of country and especially its head dictator clown.
It will be totally unforgivable if NATO is given a chance to pull the same type of coup that they did in Ukraine.

Belarussian language was codified in early 20th century by a guy in St. Petersburg. Before that, it had been a language of peasants. Nobility spoke either Polish or Russian.

Actually UK is far less linguistically diverse than it used to be, mass media and mass migration to the cities have resulted in quite significant leveling of dialects, just with higher accent variation than in the rest of Europe.
