Ukraine objects to further delay of trade deal with EU

    http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2015-05/14/c_134239926.htm

KIEV, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk said Thursday that Kiev will not agree to further delay implementing the Association Agreement with the European Union (EU) , which includes a comprehensive free trade deal, despite concerns raised by Russia.

"The free trade pact will take effect on Jan. 1, 2016," Yatsenyuk told a cabinet meeting.

He added that Ukraine is already getting prepared for functioning of the deal through implementing reforms in the agricultural sector.

"We do our utmost to bring the quality of our agricultural products in line with European standards. This is our commitment in the framework of the free trade pact," Yatsenyuk said.

The Association Agreement, which removes tariffs on around 90 percent of the goods traded between Ukraine and the EU, was signed in June last year.

In September 2014, the 28-member block has postponed implementation of the deal till Dec. 31, 2015, saying it needs time to discuss "whatever problem may arise" with Kiev and Moscow.

Russia has warned that the Ukraine-EU pact would allow European products to flood Russia via Ukraine without import duties as Kiev and Moscow have a free trade area within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Last week, Russian ambassador to the EU Vladimir Chizov appealed to the leadership of the 28-member block asking to postpone the deal with Ukraine for another year as controversial issues over its effect were not fully settled.

By Josh Cohen May 14, 2015

As Ukraine continues its battle against separatists, corruption and a collapsing economy, it has taken a dangerous step that could further tear the country apart: Ukraine’s parliament, the Supreme Rada, passed a draft law last month honoring organizations involved in mass ethnic cleansing during World War Two.

The draft law — which is now on President Petro Poroshenko’s desk awaiting his signature — recognizes a series of Ukrainian political and military organizations as “fighters for Ukrainian independence in the 20th century” and bans the criticism of these groups and their members. (The bill doesn’t state the penalty for doing so.) Two of the groups honored — the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) — helped the Nazis carry out the Holocaust while also killing close to 100,000 Polish civilians during World War Two.

The law is part of a recent trend of contemporary Ukrainian nationalism promoted by those on the extreme right to break with the country’s Communist past and emphasize Ukraine’s suffering under the Soviet regime. In addition to the moral problem of forbidding the criticism of Holocaust perpetrators, the law hinders Ukraine’s European ambitions — and validates Russian President Vladimir Putin’s claims that the country is overrun by neo-Nazis. Russia’s envoy to NATO said division lines may be created inside Ukraine and Georgia in case of the counties' consistent rapprochement with NATO

MOSCOW, May 15. /TASS/. Moscow expects that NATO will stop attempts of absorbing Georgia and Ukraine into the alliance, Russia’s envoy to NATO Alexander Grushko said on Friday during a Moscow-Brussels video linkup.

Moscow sees NATO’s consistent rapprochement with Georgia in an effort to switch the country’s armed forces to NATO standards and to integrate it in the alliance, the diplomat said.

"But there are many realistic people in NATO and many understand the risks of the thoughtless ‘open door policy’," he said.

"Such development of events could result in serious consequences for the European security," the diplomat said. "In case with Ukraine and Georgia, division lines may be created inside the countries," he said.

"I believe that common sense will prevail and such thoughtless attempts will be abandoned," Grushko stressed. Continue reading.

Ukraine’s $15.3 billion debt restructuring is a critical part of the plan for financial stabilization in the ex-Soviet republic, the Ukrainian finance minister said

TBILISI, May 15. /TASS/. Ukraine’s Finance Ministry has urged international creditors to start sovereign debt restructuring talks to alleviate the country’s debt burden and normalize the economic situation in Ukraine, Finance Minister Natalia Yaresko said on Friday.

"We have no other possibility for achieving economic stability without successful debt restructuring," Yaresko said at an annual conference held by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

"It is important that our creditors should understand this. I would request them to be constructive, sit down to a negotiating table in an open manner and responsibly. We need to hold negotiations in the near future," the Ukrainian finance minister said, adding the debt restructuring required trimming coupon payments and payments at face value along with extending maturity dates. MOSCOW, May 15. /TASS/. The purposeful destruction of the infrastructure in southeastern Ukraine attests to the fact that the authorities in Kiev don’t regard it as their region, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov told the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

"The lion’s share of GDP was created in the southeast of Ukraine, the lion’s share of the budget revenue used to be collected in the southeastern regions and was redistributed to the subsidized regions," Azarov said.

According to him, Ukraine had 21 subsidized regions. "If Kiev subsidized Donbas, then a simple question arises: at the expense of what region? At the expense of Ivano-Frankovsk or Ternopol? Of course not," the former prime minister said.

"The fact that they [the Ukrainian authorities] are destroying the southeastern regions using artillery and the Grad rocket launchers means that they don’t consider it their region," he noted.

Ukraine’s Premier Arseniy Yatsenyuk earlier told various media outlets that Donbas was a subsidized region with its budget in the red.

MOSCOW, May 15. /TASS/. Kiev’s military operation in east Ukraine’s Donetsk region has damaged over 9,500 facilities, inflicting a total damage of over 2 billion hryvnia (about $100 million), according to a report published by Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) ombudsman Daria Morozova on Friday.

"As of May 8, 2015, the armed hostilities in the region damaged or destroyed 9,538 infrastructure facilities with damage estimated at over 2 billion hryvnia," the report said.

The cities of Donetsk and Makeyevka have suffered most, with 6,066 and 1,016 facilities, respectively, either damaged or destroyed, according to the report.

Overall, Kiev’s military operation has destroyed over 5,300 houses, 605 electricity transmission lines, 53 health care facilities and 252 educational establishments in the DPR, the report said.

Thousands have been killed and hundreds of thousands of people have fled Ukraine’s embattled east as a result of clashes between Ukrainian troops and local militias in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions during Kiev’s military operation, launched in mid-April 2014 to regain control over parts of the breakaway territories, which call themselves the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. MOSCOW, May 15. /TASS/. Military intelligence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic has uncovered the efforts of the Ukrainian Security Service SBU to organize a chain of terrorist acts in Donetsk, Eduard Basurin, the official spokesman of the DPR Defence Ministry told a news briefing on Friday.

He said the terrorist acts would most likely be organized in the run-up to an EU summit in Riga.

"Our agents say the SBU on Thursday got down to implementing a plan for a series of terrorist acts that will be carried out within a week so as to accuse us of crimes against humanity," Basurin said.

In part, such acts will likely be staged on the Mariupol-Volodarskoye and Privolnoye-Kasyanovka automobile roads and in the vicinity of the Stary Krym township, he indicated.

"Explosions of landmines or shelling of passenger busses and small cars from artillery weapons is possible there," Basurin said.
He recalled that Kiev had more than once demonstrated its capability to resort to the most audacious steps and organize terrorist acts against civilians in the areas of Donbas under its control.

Such actions usually precede important international events, Basurin said. Continue reading.

VIENNA, May 15. /TASS/. Ukraine Shuts Down Independent Media Outlet, Arrests Journalists

Ukraine's security forces have shut down an Odessa-based local media outlet and arrested its employees as part of a growing media crackdown.

Ukraine's Security Service and Prosecutor's Office have shut down the Odessa-based independent local news outlet Timer and jailed its chief editor Yuri Tkachov, as well as three journalists and the website's administrator, according to Ukrainian media and the outlet's Facebook page.

The shutdown follows a search of the Kiev-based Vesti newspaper's offices and the unsolved murder of Ukrainian opposition journalist Oles Buzina.

"A search is ongoing at the apartment of the Odessa internet-publication Timer Yuri Tkachov," an official in the Odessa state administration told Ukrainian media.

Even though he wanted to join the European Union.. at the same time he welcomed to renew
contract with Russia naval port and distance from any serious cooperation with NATO..
He was neutral.. but promoted close relations with Russia.

Timoshenko in the other hand who lost.. promoted NATO integration.. which is a major threat
for Russia security ... Yakunovych never asked to join NATO. What he wanted is to get a good

Europe Union and Russia.. So he was neutral.. and while Yakunovych was in power ,the rights

So if you look at the political map above of Ukraine.. you will see that.. The distribution of support between pro Russia and Pro west.. is directly connected with geography.. the close the territory is to Russia the closer is the support for Russia. the people who lived near Russia had family members working in Russia.. and the people who lived near Poland had family members working in Poland.. and in central ukraine the votes were more balanced.. The 2012 elections

Vast majority because the the terrorist parties.. that now are in power after the coup..(like Right Sector and Svoda)better know as neonazis..and that openly are very hostile to Russia ,only win 5% of the elections.  Putin and Russia not even had major security problems with when Timoshenko ,was in power.. eve thought she was pro NATO and Pro EU.. she at least at that time ,had door opens for Business with Russia..    The problem now in Ukraine.. is that USA too control of it.. and Half the parliement is controlled now.. illegally by the Criminal factions ,the hit mans ,who are under direct control of the CIA and they are used to keep in check any politician who dares to become closer to Russia.. Effectively Ukraine today is hostage of US government and no matter who leads in ukraine.. as long as you have those criminals with so much Power and the CIA in control of Ukraine top military.. and police.. no President will dare to move away from US policies..

That said.. US Government have a really strong control of Ukraine..and only a major coup or revolution can return democracy there. that could come after the total collapse of Ukraine economy.

The National Bank of Ukraine and People's Bank of China have signed a currency swap deal worth 15 billion yuan ($2.36 billion), the Chinese bank says on its Web site.

The deal lapses in three years and can be terminated at any time before that by mutual consent.

It enables companies from both countries to use national currencies for export-import operations and to conduct settlements in national currencies without involving the currencies of other countries.

It's some small sign of desperation. Ukraine's access to most financial markets is practically zilch. The only
thing preventing the creditors from calling in their loans is pressure by Uncle Sam.

These Kiev regime propaganda numbers are ludicrous.

Even the UN under that US flunky was talking about over 6,000 civilian casualties last fall and obviously in the Donbas.
Now these turds are yapping about 4,126 civilians. Perhaps they are being smartasses and only counting civilian losses
in regime controlled territory. The regime forces have been caught placing their artillery and tanks inside villages and
towns while they attack rebel territory.

As for 2,112 soldiers. Don't make me laugh (and cry). They lost over 4,000 soldiers in the southern cauldrons last
    summer.

    UNHOLY ALLIANCE 05.14.1511:45 AM ET

One of Marine Le Pen’s most trusted advisors has appeared at an event celebrating the establishment of Donetsk as an “independent” pro-Russian enclave in Ukraine.

On May 11, delegates from Europe’s political fringes travelled to Donetsk, the occupied ‘capital’ of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR), for a forum to mark the first anniversary of the proclamation of the Russian-backed separatist entities in Ukraine. This in itself is unsurprising since far-right politicians have been used on several occasions to lend a veneer of legitimacy to Russia’s puppet statelets and sham votes since the invasion of Crimea last year.

The attendance roster for this confab included some familiar pro-Putin faces such as French far-right Member of European Parliament Jean-Luc Schaffhauser, Italian nationalist Alessandro Musolino and German neo-Nazi journalist Manuel Ochsenreiter, who moonlights as Kremlin propaganda channel RT’s German “expert” on the Middle East. But this time there was one surprising name in the bunch: Emmanuel Leroy.

Leroy was billed as representing the French charity, Urgence d’Enfants Ukraine (UEU), led by Alain Fragny, a former member of the extreme-right Bloc Identitaire. UEU is a suspicious organization that promotes pro-Russian and pro-separatist propaganda on its websites and is rather opaque with regards to its structure and operations. Leroy was also named by the official site of the DNR leadership as one of the initiators of the forum back in March this year. Continue reading.
