There's more Armata's rolling around than B4's right now. Priorities.

Yep, but they knew Armata was coming a year ago when they said a large batch of the "Biathlon" edition T-72s would be modernized.
Price was probably too much, especially in light of tightened budget.
New engine and tranny is nice, but is the definition of a luxury on an otherwise fairly outdated tank.

If I was in charge, I would have made the same decision. I would also place the BMPT-72 higher up on the list than the B4 upgrade.

What was the difference between the B3 and B4? (I haven't been following it closely).

I'd scrap the engine and tranny, but keep the panoramic sight and add Relikt.
I would not even buy BMPT-72, but I am biased against that vehicle in general.

Re: Russian Military Photos and Videos #2
The T-72B2 or whatever it was seemed like a good program and all round what was needed. I agree with the panoramic sight and yes, forget about new engine and tranny. Whatever money saved should go to Armata.

Yeah the feed system isn't stellar, but you end up turning the outdated T-72 into a useful machine. Get production going, and offer the upgrade to Iraq, Iran and the like.
B4 Biathlon edition.
BMPT-72

I would rather see them upgrade the T-90's into AM standard then purchase the BMPT

Dont want to be like the a**holes in the comments section of the article but for those who dont know, this is Spetsnaz, most likely Terek, of the Chechen Republic, Russian Federation. On mp.net, many moons ago, I posted some more videos of them in training, some hardcore lads. The one responsible for Terek's education/training is a former FSB Alfa operative, Daniil Martinov (sp?), also the left hand of Kadyrov in security matters.
EDIT: Seems Raden posted just before me.
Is it common for both republic and national flag to be used on the gear in Russia or is it mostly just Chechen republic that has both the federal and republic flag? Very impressive video too. Thanks Raden.

A little discussion doesn't hurt, does it?Werewolf wrote:Just a question why are we discussing military matters under videos/photos thread?
That way the pics are explained. Sometimes by experts and more times by enthusiasts.
That's OK I think.

Well we have adequate threads for specific equipment and people usually ask things over there since it is later also much easier to find when you try to recall information on equipment.
Just for every newcomer to this forum, the Search function is literally useless, so if you are looking at some point for information to something specific posted you won't find it over search function, so it would be good if we kept it that way with the information for equipment put in the threads we already have.
