I'm expecting Russian powerful strikes on Hasakah in a short while.
I like to watch in the morning the US millions dollars worth future junk blowing up in smoke.

A group of US cargo aircraft airdropped overnight some 50 tons of small fire ammunition and explosives to rebels in northern Syria’s Hasakah province, CNN reported Monday citing a US official speaking on condition of anonymity.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The broadcaster claimed that this was a first step in a US effort to boost support to what the White House refers to as moderate opposition forces fighting regular Syrian troops loyal to President Bashar Assad. C-17 cargo planes dropped ammunition on 112 pallets to be retrieved by opposition fighters on the ground from a US-vetted group called by Washington the Syrian Arab Coalition.
According to the CNN, the newly-named Syrian anti-government force was first mentioned by Christine Wormuth, policy undersecretary at the US Defense Department, during Congressional testimony in September. She said the group was being trained as part of a train-and-equip mission for anti-Assad opposition factions in Syria.

Yeah apparently yesterday was formed new coalition of "rebels" under name Syrian Democratic Force or SDF also aided apparently by Kurds.
And US decided to back up this new coalition, apparently info mentioned in that article and some others came directly from Pentagon.
Since when are the Kurd's siding with the so called 'moderate' FSA? They've been fighting them since day one of the conflict! All of a sudden hundreds, if not thousands of deaths between each other, simply forgotten? Let bygones be bygones at a snap of a finger lol?
Me thinks that this is pure black propaganda, just like the idea that the Wahabi rebels are now allies to the Kurd's, is just like the idea that Wahabi rebels are moderates....pure BOLLOCKS!!! But what is true is that the YPG have stated that they want to cooperate with the Russian VKS, they're requesting airstrikes to help them, and we've found no evidence so far that they (YPG) want to fight Russia.

You guys know those ISIS convoys like they road in Iraq without any interference by US in the hundreds to thousands. I hope russia will get a chance of dealing with such convoys by using FOAB. I would love to see that deployed against that terrorist scum or moderate terrorist scum.

These are the ape's defeating them.
Hezbollah would annihilate these but they dont have enough men or will to fight all over Syria.
30 or something russian jets and heli's wont bring Syria total victory, without a russian or iranian ground intervention it's impossible. I have strong doubts they will even hold this territory when the russian air bombing campaign ends.

Valid point. One suspects that part of the strategy is to attack the resupply infrastructure so that the 'activists' at the front run out of ammo/food/new fighters etcMonarchist wrote:These are the ape's defeating them.zorobabel wrote:SAA pushed out of Kafr Nabudah again today. Also, with large numbers of particularly ISIS fighters claimed to be foreign mercs they will need to continue getting paid, plus if it gets really bad for them they will have problems melting away into the local population.

US military airdrops 50 tons of ammo for Syrian fighters, after training mission ends
The U.S. military airdropped 50 tons of small arms ammo and grenades in northern Syria on Sunday, a senior defense official told Fox News, representing the Pentagon's shift from training rebel fighters to equipping them.
Coming just two days after the Defense Department announced it was effectively ending its current training program, the airdrop delivery was made Sunday by four C-17 transport aircraft. The 112 pallets contained ammunition for M-16s and AK-47s.
"All the pallets reached friendly forces," the official said, adding that the drop "looked similar to what we did in Kobani." This referred to one of the few bright spots in the war against the Islamic State when the U.S. military dropped weapons to Syrian Kurdish fighters, known as the YPG, who successfully expelled ISIS from the Turkish-Syrian border town of Kobani earlier this year.
This time, the official said Syrian Kurds were not recipients of the U.S. airdrop -- only Syrian Arabs fighting ISIS. There is sensitivity in Washington over arming Syrian Kurds, whom Turkey sees as an enemy but the U.S. counts as a NATO ally.
The 50 tons of supplies were airdropped into Al-Hasakah province, home to Syrian Kurds, Arabs and a minority Assyrian community.
The ammunition originally was intended for the U.S. military's "train and equip" mission, the official said. But that program was canceled last week.
"So now we are more focused on the 'E' [equip] part of the T&E [train & equip]," said the official, who described equipping Syrian Arabs as the focus of the new strategy against ISIS.
The Defense Department announced Friday that it was overhauling the mission to aid Syrian rebel fighters. After the program fell far short of its goals for recruiting and training Syrian fighters, the DOD said it would focus instead on providing "equipment packages and weapons to a select group of vetted leaders and their units so that over time they can make a concerted push into territory still controlled by ISIL."
The shift also comes as Russia continues to launch airstrikes in Syria, causing tension with the U.S. amid suspicions Moscow is only trying to prop up Bashar Assad.
Col. Steve Warren, spokesman for the U.S.-led anti-ISIS coalition, confirmed that coalition forces conducted the airdrop on Sunday.
"The aircraft delivery includes small arms ammunition to resupply counter-ISIL ground forces so that they can continue operations against ISIL. All aircraft exited the drop area safely," he said in a statement.
President Obama, in an interview on CBS' "60 Minutes" aired Sunday, said there's "no doubt" that the training mission "did not work." But he noted he was "skeptical from the get-go about the notion that we were going to effectively create this proxy army inside of Syria."
Obama said while there are no "silver bullets," the U.S. is "prepared to work both diplomatically and where we can to support moderate opposition that can help convince the Russians and Iranians to put pressure on Assad for a transition."

I dont think the russian bombing campaign will stop until victory, or something that can be portrayed as a victory happens, putin has a reputation to uphold and I doubt he is going to allow them to reemerge as soon as he stops the air strikes. One of the themes of this intervention is that putin is doing what the west has been unable to, so a half job is unacceptable and would make his efforts look as bad as the wests.
I do agree though, syrian manpower alone doesnt seem enough, though that may well change when the tide turns visibly, volunteers will appear for the winning side and isis goons will start to slip away.

That is true. Hence why Syrian airforce has to protect their skies. They have MiG-29's and MiG-23BM. They need to make it clear to US and its allies that they are unwanted.
Add to that, russia is doing good. But need to do better. They really need to assist SyAF in training and maybe modernization to strike and provide assistance to ground troops. If Syrian troops were pushed out of an area, that means they didnt get the support needed.

So only part of the town was recaptured by terrorists? I guess you cannot win them all. Hopefully SyAF will fly in to provide support for the ground troops in the next encounter.

It's basically the Kurds and some smaller allied groups that helped them when they were hard pressed at Kobane a few months ago. The Americans reportedly need a group they can support openly so as to have someone to represent them if/when negotiations start....this new group might try and make a move towards Raqqa from the east.

Re: Syrian Civil War: News #2
Something that is surprising me regarding the Russian intervention in Syria is Israel's silence. There can be no doubt that Israel is fully interested in getting rid of Al-Assad and weakening Syria, but surprisingly I've seen no criticism or strong declarations on the part of Israeli officials regarding Russia's intervention (differently from the US or Turkey). I am pretty sure Netanyahu and Putin reached an agreement when the former traveled to Moscow right before the start of Russia's involvement, but I can't see what. Does anybody have any idea?

Israel can't bark post-factum against a nuclear superpower. I have no doubts that if Russia would have started the bombing campaign without informing Israel, Israel would simply have nothing to say. It happened, and you can't reverse it. Therefore condemning it would only be a waste of political energy.
