Leith Abou Fadel @leithfadel
Breaking: Syrian Army - backed by Hezbollah & Harakat Nujaba are a few hundred meters from the strategic Thermal Power Plant near Kuweires
Leith Abou Fadel @leithfadel
Many people scoffed at me for calling the Iraqi fighters "tough" - they helped capture territory in Aleppo that was untouchable 2 months ago

The sooner Fallujah and Ramadi falls the better. Those shia groups can be directed to Syria and this hell will most likely be over.

However the big trouble starts now, what do they do with them Kurds?
Shouldn't be too much of a hassle, plenty of good options here.
For starters, send them some encrypted satellite phones. Cut out the middle-man...

Russian or Syrian AF double tap. Excellent timing. Lots of Men in Black but didn't spot Will Smith as they were not in suits.

OMG guys, you gotta watch latest episode of South Park!!!
Basically, kids decided to start a ninja club and everyone started being really scared of them because ninjas are badass.
But in fact everyone thought they joined ISIS....

A question. I see the force around Aleppo itself hasn't progressed. They are positioned around the city in what seems to be a sickle frontline. Is there an idea behind this? Why haven't they started to storm the city yet?

Aleppo is probably the most important battle, strategically, politically and diplomatically. The Syrian Government will not want to start it until it is well and ready. The preparations are no doubt underway, in particular trying to strangle the place by minimising the reinforcements of all types that can be brought in.Neutrality wrote:A question. Once the many 'distractions' that are being dealt with at the moment are overcome then the SAA with its allies can move in force to join with those already there. Whenever it starts it will be a really nasty fight with many of the fanatics fighting to the death. It is an attackers worst nightmare, well prepared defensive positions and lots of tunnels.
One thing is certain, a huge pile of munitions is going to have to be created before it starts.

Re: Syrian Civil War: News #3
Some sources on Tweeter claim Jabhat Al-Nusra is forced to send some 4-5000 fighters from Idlib to plug hole in Aleppo front, which means:
1. Rebel battle group southern Aleppo has been decimated
2. The (best) terrorist/rebel reserve units are now forced to fight an open plain battle against IRGC/Hezbollah/SAA who have Russian aviation support

And most important of all. They are forced to spread themselves thin. This is going by the textbook so far.

I am curious what the aim of the offensive is, reclaim aleppo or close of the border with turkey?

Idlib. The border is too vast without Kurdish Action. Idlib however is a good POV since the jihadis will try and defend it.

How about eradicating radical islamism which has brought nothing but destruction, poverty, internal and external displacement of people and total anarchy to Syria? Not just ISIS but also these scumbags who call themselves the "moderate" opposition?

So in essence: SAA/whatever attacks and draws out the "moderates" so Russian air power can slaughter them? Reconquering Idlib would be a huge moral victory, it was the main "jewel" in the opposition's crown, and its loss for the regime inaugurated the whole "the regime is finished" mantra. Reversing that might cause a lot of snackbars to lose hope.

That should be the ultimate aim, I was just thinking of more feasible short term goals.

Agreed 100%
Allepo is the big white whale here but current situation means that jihadists have to keep a lot of manpower tied up inside which leaves them undermanned elsewhere. SAA and VKS are exploiting this as we speak.
Once they do encircle the city and start cleaning it up it will be total bloodbath. No one is in a rush to start that game before all loose ends are tied up and troops are good and ready.
