Ukrainian nationalist battalions resume shelling of Donetsk - media
    World
    December 20, 1:08 UTC+3
The shelling was opened from the positions of Ukrainian forces in the villages of Peski and Opytnoye, with the use of mortars 82mm calibre and small arms

    http://tass.ru/en/world/845523

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Fighters of pro-Kiev nationalist armed units resumed shelling on Saturday night of the village of Spartak, the area of the Volvo-Centre and former Donetsk airport controlled by militias of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), a source with DPR law and order agencies told the Donetsk news agency on Saturday.

"At about 9.00 p.m. local time (6.00 p.m. GMT) Ukrainian military opened fire on Spartak, the airport and Volvo-Centre," the source said specifying that the shelling was opened from the positions of Ukrainian forces in the villages of Peski and Opytnoye, with the use of mortars 82mm calibre and small arms.

The Package of Measures, known as Minsk-2, envisaged a ceasefire between Ukrainian government forces and people’s militias in the self-proclaimed republics in Donetsk and Lugansk starting from February 15 and subsequent withdrawal of heavy weapons from the line of engagement. The deal also laid out a roadmap for a lasting settlement in Ukraine, including local elections and constitutional reform to give more autonomy to the war-torn eastern regions.

In line with an agreement reached in Minsk at a meeting of the Contact Group on settling the situation in east Ukraine, a complete ceasefire was established from September 1 at the contact line in Donbass. Still, the DPR and LPR (self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic) regularly register increasing instances of shelling from the positions of pro-Kiev armed units.

Under the Package of Measures to implement the Minsk agreements (Minsk-2) adopted on February 12, 2015, 100 mm artillery guns and weapons of larger calibre are to be pulled out to a distance of 50 kilometres from each other; MRLS - to 70 km; MRLS Tornado, Uragan and Smerch as well as the Tochka tactical operational missile complex to 140 km.

In accordance with the September supplement to the package of measures, guns under 100 mm calibre, tanks and mortar launchers, including those of 120 mm calibre, were supposed to have been withdrawn before November 12.

The order from the Master, nothing too serious. Note the 2* telling Ukraine that the US was not going to build a training system for them.

U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt called on Ukrainian military servicemen not to give a handle to Russia to resume hostilities in Donbas during the New Year and Christmas holidays.

The Defense Ministry of Ukraine wrote on its Facebook page on Saturday that Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff Viktor Muzhenko held a protocol meeting with Maj. Gen. David W. Allvin, Director for Strategy and Policy at the Headquarters of the U.S. European Command, and Pyatt.

"When the discussion touched the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) in Donbas Pyatt highly appreciated Ukraine's efforts on efficient ceasefire on the contact line. He said that the key task in the coming days, especially during the New Year and Christmas holidays, is to help the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM OSCE) to monitor the flash points, so that Russia does not receive a handle to resume hostilities," the Defense Ministry said.

Allvin said that Ukraine should build own training system using own combat experience and the specifics of own country. The United States can only help and provide an independent assessment of the outcome.

The Nazis must be offending the non-white Americans...

And the Canadians quickly switched all their training to non-combat areas such as Combat First Aid and evacuation along with basic field craft and survival skills.

In addition to the blockade of the Crimea should use military methods, writes an influential Ukrainian newspaper "Zerkalo Nedeli". According to the editorial, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were to launch a missile attack on the ship-Cable-laying from China, who participated in the construction of an energy bridge to the Crimea. "If Ukraine has taken appropriate diplomatic demarches, and the ship, ignoring the sanctions regime would have received anti-ship missile in the side, then there is no doubt the Chinese and other potential contractors Kremlin many times would have thought before deciding on certain actions in violation sanctions, even if it is allowed for a lot of money, "- says the publication. Prepare for the showdown.

    https://www.rt.com/business/326647-medvedev-ukraine-debt-court/

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has ordered the Cabinet to get lawyers ready to prepare to fight Ukraine in court over its $3 billion debt to Russia.

“There’s no doubt that Kiev won’t pay,” Medvedev said on Monday at the meeting of Cabinet ministers. He added that Russia should recover Ukraine’s debt along with penalties.

Show no mercy, Russia. Please, no mercy. Maidan has to learn a serious lesson.

That's all about being in the EU, the good comes with the bad. The EU sanctioned Russia so Russia sanctioned agricultural products from the EU zone and now Ukraine is joining said zone those sanctions apply to it as well. Still they can't really complain, Kiev knew it was coming, along with those customs duties both way over the Uk/Ru border averaging around 6% on everything else.

As Mr P said last week (think he meant new sanctions other than the already in force EU one)

Now, about what we will do. We are not going to impose any sanctions on Ukraine – I want this to be heard. We are just switching to a most-favoured-nation treatment in trade. Which means conditions for Ukraine will not be any worse than those for our other foreign partners. But of course, Russia will grant no more privileges or preferences to Ukraine from January 1, 2016.

What will this mean in practice? In practice, it means that the zero tariffs in trade between Russia and Ukraine will change to the weighted average tariff of 6 percent. Various rates will range from 3 to 8 or 10 percent. But this is not our choice. We have fought for this not to happen. But they did not want to listen to us. They did so unilaterally and in the style I just described to you. But we have to work in the conditions we have.

Still too much idiotic effort to accommodate Banderastan. Russia should impose actual sanctions on Banderastan and let them
eat their own sh*t. They are a lost cause and trying to be nice to them is counterproductive. It is, in fact, this sort of
behaviour by Russia that gives its enemies the delusion that it is weak.

Looks to me that Russia wants to put back all of Ukropistan under it's control, not just Novo and they will not mind if large percentage of Ukrop population packs their bags and hightail it to EU. In fact, they will welcome and encourage it since it makes their job easier and cheaper. It will take time though...

Russia's approach here reminds me of this Italian joke:

Two bulls were standing on top of a mountain looking at herd of cows.

The younger bull says to the older one: "Hey dad, how about we run down there and f*ck one of those cows?".

The older one says: "No son. Lets walk down there and f*ck them all".

On Monday the European Union announced the prolonging of economic sanctions against Russia for another six months.

“On 21 December 2015, the Council prolonged EU economic sanctions against Russia until 31 July 2016,” said the European Council’s website.
