How come there are two 4th Mechanized Divisions in Syria? One operating in Aleppo and the other in Damascus. Dumb question but I'm puzzled. There used to be a 4th and 14th division operating outside of Damascus, considered to be the two top loyal Army Divisions. The brigades operating outside of Aleppo are those of the 4th Division so perhaps the second 4th operating outside of Damascus is actually the 14th being mixed up by the media as per usual.
Well not whole division is sent to Aleppo, some of their components are in Aleppo others stayed in Damascus, they are present in almost whole Syria.

Peto's scales are accurate. That green area occupied by the rebels is roughly 25km from the south to the north.

Most probably Iran is sending IRGC special units as welcome delegation for Saudis. Anyway an IRGC division will well improve SAA capabilities to fight with terrorists.

Iranians and Iraqis will simply level entire towns. Something SAA is not willing to do. If this war is to end this century, that has to happen.
