Recent videos of massive convoy from Turkey to Syria, heading for the Bal al-Salaam crossing north of Azaz. Lizzie Phelan of RT claims to get within 50 m or so of al Nusra positions.

Denmark to send F-16s and troops into Syria
A majority of political parties in parliament's foreign affairs committee expressed support Friday for the government's proposal, and "the government will on the basis of [Friday's] meeting submit a bill to a parliamentary vote to strengthen the campaign against IS," a statement from the prime minister's office said.
The decision is seen as a response to a December request from the US that Denmark step up its efforts against Isis and a follow-through on Defence Minister Peter Christensen’s pledge to US Secretary of Defence Ash Carter last month that Denmark would contribute to the international coalition against Isis wherever it is most needed.
Denmark joined the international coalition fighting Isis (alternately known as Islamic State or ISIL) in October 2014 and Danish F-16s flew 547 missions over northern Iraq, dropping over 500 bombs, before the jets were brought home for repairs in August.
Rasmussen said that with the new commitment, Denmark would “intensify” its fight against the terror group.
"We need to fight ISIL with focus and great force as it is unscrupulously terrorizing and killing innocent men, women and children," the PM said. "We must never five up the fight for peace and freedom."
The Defence Ministry said that with the new contribution, which in addition to the fighter jets and special forces troops will also include a C130 Super Hercules transport aircraft, Denmark would be among the nations with the largest military and civil presence in Iraq and Syria when measured per capita.
The foreign affairs committee's recommendations are expected to be put before parliament next month. The plan has the support of Venstre, the Danish People's Party, the Social Democrats, the Conservatives and the Social Liberals (Radikale), ensuring that it will pass.
The Danish contribution would be available from mid-2016 and the 400 soldiers would include pilots, support staff and 60 special operations forces.
It was not immediately known what the special forces would be assigned to do in Syria.
"It doesn't mean that the Danish soldiers will be in direct offensive combat. But they could be attacked, and therefore they will have a robust mandate," news agency Ritzau quoted Foreign Minister Kristian Jensen as saying after the foreign affairs committee's meeting.
Denmark currently has around 120 troops stationed at the Al-Asad air base near Baghdad, where they have been training Iraqi soldiers and Kurdish security forces.

New Best Friends? US Building Two Air Bases in Kurdish-Held North Syria
The construction of two US air bases in Kurdish-held territory on the northeastern and northern edges of Syria is under way, according to Kurdish media.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The United States is allegedly nearing completion of constructing two air bases in Kurdish-held territory on the northeastern and northern edges of Syria, Kurdish media cited military sources as saying.
Unnamed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) revealed to the BasNews outlet that "scores" of US experts were working on the runway in an abandoned airfield straddling the Turkish and Iraqi borders in Rmeilan, Hasakah province.
"The majority of the work is already completed," the SDF source said, adding that a second air base is slated for construction in southern Kobani, Aleppo province, on the Turkish border.
The Stratsfor security analyst team said in January it had satellite imagery depicting US forces expanding a disused airstrip near Rmeilan to nearly double its length to 0.8 miles.
Rumors of US activity in the region have been going on for several weeks prior to that.
The Kurdish outlet claims the two air bases would be used to boost US presence and military support for the Syrian Kurdish forces engaged against terrorist organizations, including Daesh terrorists, as well as for non-military purposes.

Re: Syrian Civil War: News #7
Informed intelligence sources have disclosed that ISIL leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has moved from Turkey to Libya to escape the hunt operation of the Baghdad Intelligence Sharing Center after he was traced down and allegedly targeted a number of times in Iraq and the Syria.
“Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi who was injured in Syria was sent to Turkey for treatment and from there he was sent to Libya,” the Arabic-language media outlets quoted former Egyptian intelligence officer Hesam Kheirullah as saying on Monday.
In relevant remarks in December, sources in Libya said al-Baghdadi had arrived in Sirte, the hometown of the slain Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, which is under the control of the Takfiri groups.
The ISIL Leader is running a secret life as his life is at stake more than anyone in the world now. Al-Baghdad’s terrorist group is under massive airstrike by the Syrian, Russian and Iraqi Air Forces all throughout the Western Iraq and Eastern Syria.
While reports earlier this year said the ISIL leader was always on the move between Iraq’s Mosul and Syria’s Raqqa – the self-proclaimed capital of the terrorist group – tips and intel revealed in November that Al-Baghdadi had moved from the Syrian city of Albu Kamal to the Iraqi city of Mosul in Nineveh province.
Then in October, Iraq’s air force bombed his convoy as he was heading to Al-Karable to attend a meeting with ISIL commanders. 25 other ISIL militants were killed in the special operation that was the product of the Baghdad Intelligence Sharing Center where the latest intel arrives from Iranian, Russian, Iraqi and Syrian spy agencies round the clock.
The notorious terrorist leader escaped the attempt on his life narrowly, but with fatal injuries. Few hours after the assault, the spokesman of Iraq’s joint forces declared that Al-Baghdadi was injured in the Iraqi airstrike on his convoy and was taken away from the scene by his forces.
The terrorist leader was first transferred to Raqqa, where surgeons saved his life but failed to give him a thorough treatment due to a lack of specialized medical equipment.
Sources disclosed a few days later that the ISIL leader had been taken to Turkey for treatment through a series of coordination measures by the CIA.
“The CIA has done the coordination with the Turkish intelligence service (MIT) for transferring al-Baghdadi to Turkey,” the Arabic-language al-Manar TV quoted unnamed sources as saying.
The source said that two companions of al-Baghdadi who were also injured in the attack on the ISIL leader’s convoy and were captured by the Iraqi forces confirmed that al-Baghdadi had been injured in the attack.
After specialists said al-Baghdadi needed months of recovery, one of his aides was appointed to run the cult until the so-called caliph would return to duty.
Al-Baghdad has, thus far, escaped several attempt on his life, making him suspicious of his team of bodyguards.
“While everyone is looking for him in Iraq and Syria, no one expects him to be in Sirte,” the Libyan source told FNA, adding, “If he is to be exposed to danger, Sirte would be the last place on Earth for his life to be endangered as it is the safest Takfiri stronghold in the world.

Over 100 villages reconcile in Syria
https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/over/ | Al-Masdar News
The countrywide ceasefire has surprisingly been successful as Syrian government officials report over 100 villages have now agreed to reconcile after several years of war and instability. According to a source from the Syrian government, the majority of the reconciliation agreements have taken place in the Hama Governorate, where several groups recently settled their differences in exchange for peace. The source added that several villages around Qal’at Al-Madeeq inside the Al-Ghaab Plains were among the recently reconciled in the Hama Governorate. In the Damascus countryside, a Russian peace delegation is working to reconcile the rebel groups and the Syrian government forces in the Qudsiyah suborb after several failed attempts in the past between the two parties. Conducting the mediation process is a Russian peace delegation that is working diligently to uphold all agreements and to oversee their implementation. Since Jihadist groups are excluded from the countrywide ceasefire agreement, the Russian delegation has specifically focused on local rebel groups that do not have a criminal history.

The 2016 Irony Awards: US Claims to Have Killed ISIS' US-Trained 'Minister of War'
Well how about that. First you train them. Then you kill them! Or at least you do if you're Uncle Sam
Irony, thy name is USA
In latest Syria news US claims to have carried our a series of airstrikes against ISIS in eastern Syria. It also claims these strikes "likely" killed a top ISIS commander. The Chechen-Georgian Abu Omar al-Shishani (born Tarkhan Batirashvili):
An Islamic State commander described by the Pentagon as the group's "minister of war" was likely killed in a U.S. air strike in Syria, U.S. officials said on Tuesday, in what would be a major victory in the United States' efforts to strike the militant group's leadership.
Abu Omar al-Shishani, also known as Omar the Chechen, ranked among America's most wanted militants under a U.S. program that offered up to $5 million for information to help remove him from the battlefield.
Now this would not be particularly humorous but for the fact the man Pentagon describes as ISIS' "minister of war" was originally trained by Pentagon in the build up to the Georgian-Russian war of 2008:
According to Batirashvili’s ex-comrades in the Georgian military, Batirashvili was tapped immediately upon his enlistment to join Georgia’s U.S.-trained special forces.
“He was a perfect soldier from his first days, and everyone knew he was a star,” said one former comrade, who asked not to be identified because he remains on active duty and has been ordered not to give media interviews about his former colleague.
“We were well trained by American special forces units, and he was the star pupil.”
What's more, in between his stint in the Georgian army and his currrent engagement with ISIS Batirashvili al-Shishani ran with Jaish al-Muhajireen wal-Ansar, a foreign jihadi group in Syria that "comingled" with the US-backed Free Syrian Army and the Al Nusra front. Al-Shishani was specifically praised for contributing to FSA gains around Aleppo:
Thanks to Abu Omar’s willingness to speak to Al Jazeera, we also have video confirmation of his emerging star status within rebel ranks and relationship of direct cooperation with the US backed FSA commander.
Omar Shishani’s interview was archived online by Al Jazeera Arabic. While offering a simple statement about conquering all of the Syria from “the kuffar,” Abu Omar is surrounded by some of the same men, including emir Abu Jandal (identified above by the New York Times) – the same Abu Jandal that is presented as second in rank under Robert Ford’s friend Col. Okaidi in the latter’s victory huddle.
In another video where he stands proudly amidst a mix of fighters, Omar addresses the camera in Russian and recognizes the FSA’s valiant efforts in its eight months long siege of the government airbase.
So, let's review the timeline:
2006: USA trains Batirashvili al-Shishani
2013: USA allied to Batirashvili al-Shishani
2016: USA glows with pride for having "likely" killed Batirashvili al-Shishani
Maybe USA doesn't know what the eff it's doing???

Russian TV crew doing full "Desert Storm" thing outside Palmyra:
How some people can fight war in a place without a single tree or at least a decent shrub is beyond me...
